That's interesting to note. Do you as an admin have access to restore features, or do you have to log a support request? What's the process you go through to restore a single file, for instance, that a user has screwed up? That's our most common restore scenario.

We're considering making the move to Office 365 over the summer, and I'm costing up so we know what to budget for..... Do you backup your Office 365 tenant, and if so, what software are you using? Onsite or cloud backup? We use Veeam for our onsite backup, but at first glance their O365 product comes out at something like £2k a year :/

I've heard nothing as yet - it's also quite frustrating as you can't find out the current version number (to see if it's been updated) without registering, downloading and extracting the software :/ -
Yeah, the "corporate tinder" aspect of the app can go away, don't like that. I've left it on my phone, I'll see if I use it / if it works in the poor signal at Excel.

There is a floorplan available on the app under More on the bottom left, then Floorplan. I had to enter and select BETT, as it didn't come up automatically. It's an ongoing irony that a tech exhibition can produce such a painfully poor app...

Whereas if you used a ball mouse you wouldn't have that problem....

Nice! I'd missed this first time round, so thanks for the updated method. An alternative method we'd been using on our Dell laptops was to use group policy to prevent the installation of the hardware switch on the case....

I'm successfully leveraging the available data...
-
If it were me, I'd really try and use this as leverage to get touchscreens in. For the time and money you'll spend getting second hand boards in, and still investing in projector maintenance after that, it's a false economy. A school will always find the money if it's a case of this, or letting it fail. Buuuuuut, if you really must...... these guys do refurb Prometheans at about £300-400 a go - Refurbished ICT Store - I've not used them myself, but I've had them saved as my last resort.
-
I had not seen that, thank you that's really useful to know. Don't tell management though eh, I'm using the line that parts are no longer available to get upgrades
-
@DSAGEY, if you've got an ActivBoard 2, you can plug a regular USB lead into the board controller on the back instead of using the serial connection. You can leave the serial connection then just plugged into the power supply.

From a slightly different angle - have you tried a driver update? We had problems with dropouts on some of our HDMI ports on desktops, and a driver update seems to have improved reliability quite a bit.

ActivInspire crashes if more than one user logged on

Just tested, and can confirm that this bug is not fixed in 2.18.68238, just tested on Windows 10. Any indication when 2.19 might be out? -
Sounds like progress @hudsen123! Hopefully they won't come back to you and ask you for evidence of ownership on the domain, ie, invoices etc. They have for others, who have then been baffled about how to prove they've "paid" for their sch.uk domain... Luckily, we had bought ours, a shorter one, and had the paperwork to prove it.
-
I'm going to assume that it does @hudsen123, but I'm afraid I asked that question myself and got no answer (classic Microsoft....)

I don't think the Powershell side of things is necessary. I do remember running a few Powershell commands (probably reading the same pages as you) but I don't recall what they were, other than they didn't do anything.

Here's a quick crib sheet to help anyone else who goes down this maze: Check eligibility from here - essentially, if you have O365 A1 already, and have Office ProPlus through EES or OVS, then you're eligible Ensure your Pro Plus licensing is on your AAD tenant; your licensing provider may need to add this for you Activate the Pro Plus licensing on AAD tenant, and ensure you can see it on your licensing page Visit https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/education/products/office and attempt a self-service signup, for some schools this may be enough to activate A1 Plus licensing For a lot of people though, it won't, so open a case with Office 365 support: Do not allow them to fob you off and say it is a Volume Licensing issue; it is not and VL support cannot help you They need to make sure you have the EDU tag on your domain, to denote you are a school If the support agent does not know how to provision the A1 Plus licensing for you, they need to escalate it to the AVE team [*]When the AVE team have provisioned the licensing for you, you'll need to take one student and one teacher account through self-signup, which should cause the licensing to activate, and appear on your AAD tenant. Do not let support tell you this is an additional product to buy, it is not, or that you need to go through a Cloud Solutions Provider, you do not. Only Microsoft can provision this licensing. I can only echo what others have said, keep fighting your corner, you are in the right. If anyone needs my case ref as an example resolution, go ahead, I was ticket 17138820.
-
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! It's only taken three months, but Microsoft finally granted us our A1 Plus licensing I mean, in another three months we might be moving to the full paid Microsoft 365 licensing, with Office A3, but still. VICTORY!

*bump* Any idea on a rough timescale for this @DangPro? Not that I'm desperate for a quick resolution, but if it's going to be a while, I'll roll back to an older version. Thanks! -
One GP setting I've used is Windows Components/File Explorer | "Prevent users from adding files to the root of their Users Files folder". This stops users or programs dumping files or folders in C:\Users\Username. Beyond that, I've just got hide A, B & C drives enabled, so you can't browse anywhere.

I do wonder if the Sophos box at the other site kicking out DHCP is still handing out the dead DC address, OR, if those machines are still remembering it / haven't updated their leases somewhere along the way. BUT, first things first. The testing you've done on your VM does suggest there is a fundamental problem with DNS at main site. Definitely have a trawl through the DNS zone as mentioned above, to look for anything still pointing at the old DC. I'd also be looking at running dcdiag /test:dns on both remaining DCs. It really does look like something isn't right on the DNS front somewhere.
-
Something is definitely wrong on the config of that machine then, and you would think DNS, as evidenced when you tried to remove it from the domain earlier. Have you tried doing ipconfig /flushdns, since demoting the old DC? That's worth a go, then try again, it could have cached material from the old DC. What happens if you ping the IP address of the old DC, just in case?
-
Ah, ok. That would suggest that bit is correct. What about the firewall profile, is that showing as domain?
