  1. I checked out the site yesterday after reading the post on the forums and saw you up for the ages as i scrolled through the video. Takes guts to get up there in public like that
  2. FTW = for the win. Mainly seen it used in games such as WOW. Oh and more importantly, WELL DONE ! Great story.
  3. Ashok sent me a decent guide in the past for 2003 server. Below is a link to his post and possibly the guide. Might help with your 2008 server. http://www.edugeek.net/forums/networks/13961-wireless-802-1x-radius-authentication-using-ias-server.html
  4. Wish Linux had better support for gaming. I think the whole movement towards it would speed up incredibly if games ran better on this OS. Have run Wow in the past and other games and done this on Cedega and on the free WINE but it is nothing like as easy as running a game on Windows. An average family will have a at least one person that will want to play games. Ubuntu has got so damned easy to set up and use over the last year or two but on Linux in general gaming is poor. Even when the games do run they run with bad fps much of the time or with other glitches. Windows 7 does look exciting though and i do want to play with it. Could not stomach Vista and still work mainly on XP at the min. Ubuntu with all the eye candy addons can look amazing though. For a while i used it for my main PC. Windows 7 for me though i think for a while!
  5. Licenses should cost the same regardless of where and who you purchase from. It's not like a physical product!!! It will be like oil next and the price will rise and rise!
  6. The kids driving like maniacs on these shows don't always have licences and don't seem the sort to bother. Most of them are like 15-16 and from deprived council estates having a "laugh". Either that or drugs. If they were responsible enough to wait till they were old enough and then get a licence and go on a special fast driving track they probably would be different kids than the ones playing rally racing in the streets.
  7. We had a few pressies........ laptops to rebuild for them over the holiday
  8. I watch these shows all the time, you could say i am addicted to them. How many of these tearaways get prison time? 3 months maybe for the few who do? You can drive around smashing up streets near killing kids in prams and STILL go home to mummy and daddy if you are a teenager. How about we just lock up the idiots for 5 years minimum? Sensible sentences for those who endanger others lives. I would prefer stiffer sentences but i doubt that would happen. 10 years would be better.
  9. Good luck at uni. I'm sure you will still find some time to pop in and post a few messages. Depending on what you are studying there are many knowledgeable peeps on here that can offer assistance or advice when you want a fresh perspective on something.
  10. Apologies for the lame intro and deceit. My GF was sent this on Facebook and jumped out of her skin. She had already been fooled by the red dot one and a few others so shame on her. I decided because my technician was such a MJ fan he would swallow the whole ghost spotted rubbish. Yep, he watched it in the office and cranked the headphones up full whack because the volume is muted so low on purpose. Then BAM the screeech and he nearly fell off his chair in shock. I laughed real hard yesterday and even found myself laughing last night remembering his reaction. He was not too happy later as he said it was disrespectful to Wacko but whatever!!! I got him good!! :D Apologies for not putting this in the internet joke forum bit too but that would have given the game away and i was hoping to give some of you less internet savvy readers a shock!
  11. I remember some pop up with some code example that did not work on a couple machines but did on others. The issue with that though is the pop up itself that appears. It was not able to be copied and pasted so i would sit there trying to work out if there was meant to be a space here and there or was it just the default gap between the brackets etc... too awkward. Just let me copy and paste it!!!!!!!!

I tend to use RyanVm or other hotfix packs as it is much faster than trying to gather up hotfixes manually. RyanVM Hotfix Packs Driverpacks
  13. Not sure if you guys have seen this but my technician is a big Michael Jackson fan and is full of conspiracy theories. He also believes that people have seen the ghost of Jackson. Apparently it is visible on BBC news during the tribute concert. I will link below so you can tell me how real you think it might be. Apparently the sound system went a bit strange when the ghost was visible in the background so it's worth whacking on some headphones to hear it. Let me know what you reckon. Is this just a load of rubbish? [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3IFzZrfjXnA]YouTube - michaels ghost spotted as SHAHEEN JAFARGHOLI sings at michael jackson memorial[/ame]
  14. I dislike VM for loads of reasons that i won't bore everyone with. Many do and many don't. Glad you posted the news as it is always good to know whats going on. When major companies get mentioned in a public forum you will aways get people who have had bad experiences time and again give their input. That's life i guess. No offence intended as my comments were meant in a light hearted way as i thought it a little strange you were saying you would prefer the thread closed rather than have people come on and complain about VM. That is inevitable i guess. A forum thread is like a wildfire, you can start it but you never know where it will spread
  15. You mentioned news about Virgin Media and their great speeds and offer right? I mentioned that they are a crappy company in my opinion and their speeds are all a con as you never get the full speed all the time anyway. Others comment on the merits of VM or not in some cases. I just see a typical thread here, although if something bad said about a company you brought up in a thread on a forum upsets you so i suppose you could report your own thread to a moderator
  16. If it says 20 it should be 20. If it says 50 it should be 50. It may not be capped now but as soon as VM send in their mathematicians they will work out 50 should be 10. False advertising from a crappy company. We should never have to make do with something when we are paying for something else.
  17. Good time to insist on staff using the helpdesk eh?
  18. When i use Ubuntu on staff machines to recover files i am usually annoyed by the NTFS drive not opening because it was not cleanly shut down. Then i have to search a gazillion forums to find the exact code that forces it to open. It's quite annoying especially as the code always differs depending on the types of drives used in the example. I always find our old Knoppix live cd works best to restore stuff.
  19. Virgin are the worst company out there for traffic shaping. You get 10mb and they let you enjoy that whopping speed for about half hour until they kick in with the 2mb slow down. Oh and this always happens at peak times, ie. when you want to use it Once i get my house i am paying through the nose for whoever is uncapped and un-throttled. That will never be VM and co.
  20. Book a holiday celebrate in style! Pleased for you.
  21. Anything invisible and so small can't possibly be able to kill me!
  22. Have used Ontrack recovery program in the past, not free though. Can you not blame it on the other technician? Someone else? Perhaps you could even break the hard drive and claim it blew up on you? Good luck, not nice when you get into this sort of situation.
  23. Can we install these in my classrooms set to go off during lessons?
  24. Done this for staff a few times in the past. Rarely so i always forget how (ITIL knowledge management failure!). Probably prepare to rename the account they use if they insist. Would begin though by adding the new email address to their existing mailbox account in Exchange a month or so before so that they have both the new and old aimed at them and it gives them time to let non school people know of the change (Exchange Global Address List will automatically deal with those on the school system). Then i would pick a date they were happy with and change the login username and remove the old email address. The home folder may have the old name but that matters little. Just something to keep in mind. I used to tell people that it was loads of hassle but that was when i was just feeling lazy to be honest and not really a worthy excuse.
  25. I would expect 20 minions for that. Joking aside, it did not look a "bad" wage to manage a school network but as i was skimming through a long long job description i got bored. Not in my location to worry about it but seemed a lot of stuff in there.
