  1. User Config > Windows Settings > Folder Redirection
  2. Thanks @DaveP but I think that it's a little too in depth.
  3. Hi Guys, Does anyone use an alternative to Outlook search? Our admin department are moaning about the way the Outlook search works. To be honest I think its more the user as I can normally find the email they are looking for, I have tried explaining/showing that they need to be looking in the correct mailbox etc but to no avail - i'm after a better solution. Our Exchange is hosted by lgfl and we use outlook 2013/16 to access. Thanks in advance.
  4. Hi Guys, I'm after some examples of the type of print/photocopying volumes people do on a typical month. We are a primary school of about 650 students and around 20 teachers + TA's. This month our printers have done 98,000 pages across all printers 99% is done through our RISO - we have papercut and follow me printing etc. Our SLT think this is excessive (they are doing SAT's test papers etc so some excuses are there) but in general I tend to agree, but not knowing exactly what resources staff need for lessons etc I can't really comment. Just wondering what other schools of similar size are doing. Thanks
  5. @Bobby_Moore I am currently moving our Shared Areas to the Google Drive. I am using a program called Insync which monitors a folder which contains my Shared Areas and UserDirs. I have uploaded the areas to my admin account in google drive then shared them the relevant groups. I have GADS working so am using our AD groups to set the permissions. Any changes made to our shared areas a synced to the cloud and vice versa. Google Drive clients seems to get hung up on system files etc.
  6. ^^ on Office 2013 and above there is a setting you can change in Powerpoint to stop it from doing this.
  7. You can do it through GPO and a reg entry so it will change when certain users logon, if you want I will see if I can dig out the entry?
  8. This is what I am trying to do, all my Shared Directories, User Docs etc are in the d:\data folder which is my sync folder. I'm then Sharing the staff home directories with the relevant staff so it will appear in their shared with me area.
  9. I have setup here with a RISO - for us its done through papercut. We have a machine with Papercut web print running on it which checks a mailbox and then processes the print job, we can do word, excel, pdfs etc. I had to make sure that the staff email addresses were present in AD so it knows who to charge the job to etc.
  10. We have year of intake and initials (14CB) all have the same passwords. I email a list to each class at the start of term with the usernames and passwords which the teacher laminates and takes with them to IT class - some of the kids have it stuck on a little badge.
  11. Morning Everyone! So next question........is there a nice way to set directory permissions in Google Apps? For instance I'm uploading all user directories from the server to GApps but would rather not have to set permissions manually on everyone's home directories. Thanks
  12. Do you mind me asking which app you used?
  13. Currently doing our Public and Staff drives and it seems to be ok apart from the drive app bombing out occasionally
  14. Just does it work ok? I currently have all users data in d:\Userdata\Staff Directories, i am going to move the it to d:\data which is my Google Drive folder and just re-share with the same name. I'm thinking once the data has synced I will need to manually share each users homedir within Google Drive. I'm thinking it shouldn't affect anything on site in terms of folder redirection breaking etc.
  15. Has anyone moved tried syncing the redirected documents to Google Drive? as in \\servername\userhomedirs\ - i'm thinking it might be a way to sync everyone's home directories without having to install drive on the desktops.
  16. So i'm trying to sync the data and the drive client keeps dropping out with an error of none.. has anyone else come across this?
  17. Is there a global trash that everything goes in to or does it go in to whoever deletes the item?
  18. The more I delve in to this the more I think I will have to do the same - its a shame because the drive does offer some nice functionality
  19. Thanks that might solve my problem. The problem with adding it to their my drive is that the client on the workstation then decides to download a copy of the folder - not good if the folder is 8GB! :/
  20. Am I missing a trick? I've uploaded a test folder and shared it with the allstaff group but when they login to the web client the folder doenst show in their "shared with me" area. Any ideas?
  21. Hi Guys, I'm in the process of moving our shared areas to Google drive, a sort of Hybrid Cloud environment if you like so we still retain a local copy in the event of internet issues etc but will make life easier for staff working from home. I have installed the drive client on the server and selected the folder/s I want to sync. My question is this, If I get a new server and copy the data from my old server to the new one and install the Google Drive Client will it try to re-sync all the data to the cloud again or just look for changes? Hope this makes sense.
  22. I can't fault ours! We have the finisher unit which makes booklets, punches and staples etc. It has saved so much time for TA's and Teachers. 90-120ppm (not with too. The only thing I would say is make sure they come and check it once a term (clean rollers etc) that's the only time ours jams. But even when it does Jam its so easy to get the paper out. Setting the cards up with Papercut is a bit of a Faff and there isn't a self provisioning option with RISO also if you are using the card reader (MiFare) make sure its on the latest firmware version, ours initially kept dropping out but the support was top notch. Really cant fault it.
  23. DPF's should regen on a short motorway journey say 30mins at above 50mph - check your handbook. you normally get a warning though if your DPF is blocked from lots of town driving in which case sometimes they need to re-gened at garage this can only be done a limited amount of times - also DPF's are a serviceable item at some cars around 90K. Clogged EGR valves can cause poor performance also. Wouldn't recommend 2 stroke with modern direct injection diesels the injectors a fragile enough as it is.
