Turns out we were using an old group policy method, using a group policy preference instead to make the scheduled task has worked Run shutdown.exe arguments: /s /f /c "computer will shutdown in 30 mins pres the desktop icon to cancel" /t 1600 Icon on the desktop runs: shutdown.exe /a

Hi Folks, The old lemon of shutting down PC's again is rearing its ugly head. We had a shutdown scheduled task sent to every PC via GPO, but thanks to this: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/2962486 It no longer works. We get a security warning. The scheduled task is to start a programme: C:\Windows\System32\shutdown.exe with the arguments: -s -f -t 1800 -c "Automatic Shut Down Commencing. To postpone this click on 'Abort Shutdown' on the Desktop" It runs as a separate shutdown user. Has anyone found a workaround or know of another way we could make this work? We've been using impero in the meantime, but to call it unreliable would be an understatement.

Well I still can't get it to work in chrome, but its now sorted in IE \o/ had one of those, been staring at it for 6 hours lets get a cuppa and start from the beginning, oh, there it is moments. I love those moments, just wish they'd happen sooner

Thats pretty much what mathsnet did, pointed us at that webpage which hasn't worked. I've whitelisted everything i can think of, lowered every setting I can find. Google just won't play at all, and firefox and IE just seem to ignore the whitelisting

Hi Folks, I'm trying to configure google apps to login automatically from a desktop icon. has anyone ever had any luck with this? Gapps is synced with AD and we have a short cut to google apps on everyones desktop, pointing to docs.ourdomain.co.uk

thats sort of helped XD now IE doesn't report an error and lets it run, but the moment it reaches java its still blocked. there must be a url for the app that isn't apparent, I've whitelisted the entire site in java now but it still doesn't run >.<

It's added as a trusted site, but even IE blocks it for being unverified now

chrome just says, application not supported, IE goes with, well it actually just outright doesn't run. Firefox (which we have an outdated version of and are hoping to uninstall soon) goes (yip yip yip) - activate java - allow to run - error -security settings prevented it from running

I get the same error in IE. Chrome default blocks some of the old plugins, but Java itself blocks anything that isn't secured too Chrome - blocks old Java apps Java - blocks unsigned Java apps Its a double whammy for some websites though >.<

Hi Folks yet more tales from the makes of, oh god why, why do people still use Java... Over the summer we updated to Java 8 and a new version of Google chrome. Sadly, now a lot of websites aren't working, part due to last being updated seemingly sometime befor the internet itself was invented. Our current problem is mathsnet, specifically MathsNet Ltd: Equation Buster 1. has anyone had any luck getting that towork with new versions of chrome and java? Downgrading isn't an option, data security and all, but even adding java exceptions doesn't seem to get the website to run.

Netgear genie didn't find a thing :/ Will all the netgears have serial ports, i couldn't see any on ours.

What do you mean by self brick? Is this something the model has a tendency to do or an age related issue? I don't think there'd be a subnet issue. Most of the netgears are plugged into HP's as they were relegated/replaced by HP's when the network was upgraded a few years back. All the subnetting, anything special is handled by HP's. The netgears were just kept to add capacity

We've got a bit of a problem in our network. It works, but damned if i know how. The documentation for our switches was never completed by the installer/manager of the time. Everything works, but some of the switches are getting old or need to be upgraded. But we don't have any IP addresses for about half our switches, and I can't find them anywhere in DNS or DHCP. I've tried scanning the network but they didn't show up in solarwinds or spiceworks. If it wasn't for the fact they are there and working I wouldn't know they existed. Its Mostly Netgear kit thats undocumented, Multiple netgear GS748's and GS 724's, a GS7241, gsm 1x 7352 (though thats possibly paired with another to show as one unit), aand a lone cisco catalyst 2950 All our HP's I've been able to locate either through documentation or through dhcp They don't even seem to have a way to connect directly too them. Any ideas how to track them down?

I've had to outright disable the group policies for now, its worked, down from 30 gp errors to 2 every restart. The run once option is still my preference, but it just didn't seem to work
