Hello All, I am wanting to add a new virtual queue so that we can manage colour/greyscale printing. I have set up the printer queue on the first server and configured it in Papercut. Do I need to restart something (server or some RM service) to get it to appear in the Printers list in RMMC? Many Thanks, TomHD

BE is on our SIMS server, I'll test Veeam on the Exchange server so I can leave BE alone for now I take it that will be OK?
-
No offence taken. Have just looked at Veeam's site, their slogan is "It just works!" and that the majority of their customers have switched from BE! I now think my issue with BE is using imported media tapes that prompt for overwrite so the job is missed because nobody is there to say yes to the overwrite! I have a valid tape loaded for tonight's jobs and hopefully they should succeed. I will still be looking into Veeam on the recommendations in this thread

Thanks guys, I will have a look into Veeam

Thanks jamin but I already have a proper solution, just not working 100% at the mo. All I am really after is knowing that the SIMS/FMS data is safe

Hello All, Backup Exec is new to me and I have an issue with jobs being missed giving error: "e000e020 - The job was scheduled to run, but the availability window closed before the job could start. There may not have been any destination devices available during the window, or the job may have been submitted to run when the window was closed." We have a rotation of 15 tapes but in BE under "All Media" there are 12 tapes, 4 of which are "Imported Media". I have noticed that when an "Imported Media" tape is loaded, BE prompts for overwrite when the job starts. Am I right in guessing that the jobs that are missed are probably due to the tape loaded either being "Imported Media" or not listed at all in "All Media"? I have a tape loaded for tonight's jobs which is shown under "All Media" and is NOT "Imported Media" Hopefully the jobs run! Cheers, if I can give any more information please ask TomHD

Thanks win, do I do that via the vSphere client? Select the VM>File>Export>Export OVF Template? And the VMs are running 2008 R2 so will have to be done this eve out of hours? Cheers, TomHD

Hello All, I have noticed that our Backup Exec hasn't completed a backup since middle February! I am looking into what problems it has. What I would like to know is: What is the best and easiest way to backup SIMS and Exchange (both VMs accessed using vSphere) without using Backup Exec? I'd rest much easier knowing I have the SIMS data backed up somewhere! Cheers, TomHD

Yeah sure, had the computers only been used by Year 1 I would have uninstalled the client Buying more seats is an option but I don't think the year 1 students will print much and therefore not economical / money could be better spent. @clareq The client is deployed via RMMC and installed on each computer. Maybe I should look at removing the client via GPO?

Random.org uses atmospheric noise but still, given enough accuracy, can be predicted.

Apple did rework their Shuffle to be less mathematically random. Maybe this Vsauce YT on "What is Random?" helps this topic?

Hi All, I'm looking at the DWN4194776 Article suggested by @Chris_ and it states "Requirements: Windows 7 SP1 64-bit (Professional or Enterprise) must be installed first." Does this mean that the machines I want to rename have to be using 64bit Windows? Cheers, TomHD
-
Thanks @Chris_, I will look into installing that
-
Thanks @yasir152. We are still on CC4.3 so I don't think we can use the renaming tool?

Hello All, We have an overly complicated location structure and naming convention in RMMC (not installed by me) which I'm looking to simplify. What is my best option for changing the structure? Do I create my new location structure, rebuild and rename our machines to the new locations and then delete the old locations? Cheers, TomHD

@Hawkeyez, Can you not push the communcation settings out via SEPM?

WOOP WOOP, turns out the send connector wasn't configured correctly! FQDN was incorrect and had to go via a smart host IP. This info was given to me by Schools Choice. All back up and running now Thanks all for your inputs
-
Thanks @Oaktech I think our send connector isn't configured right and that we are not supposed to send through the IP showing in the bounced back message. Waiting on response from Schools Choice.

Yupp, the domain is romanhill-pri.suffolk.sch.uk Currently the send connector installed connects to the Internet directly and I am wondering the same. Waiting for response from School's Choice. An example of the bounce back: BAY004-MC5F28.hotmail.com rejected your message to the following e-mail addresses: '[email protected]' ([email protected]) <mailto:[email protected]> BAY004-MC5F28.hotmail.com gave this error: OU-002 (BAY004-MC5F28) Unfortunately, messages from 85.12.76.1 weren't sent. Please contact your Internet service provider since part of their network is on our block list. You can also refer your provider to Troubleshooting.
