It's usually cables not devices that pick up the EMI. Power, speaker and interconnects. Does the volume of the pop increase/decrease depending on the volume of the amp ? If its not then it would indicate its entering through the power or speaker cables.

Perhaps load some games and play them on that 1080 instead of staring at the PC ! They are meant to be used not looked at

Yes, they will look noticeably domed if they have failed.

I've rescued/revived several Netgear switches over the last year with visibly failing capacitors in either the power supply or on the board itself. I'd suspect it's these if it's not a loop.

The two cables have different resistances. I have my original 10base-2 cables here from 16 years ago and my first network, a couple of T connectors too. Would they be of any use ? The serial hoarder side of me is shaking his head but i have to start somewhere to shrink all of this stuff.

I'm surprised they didn't lag the pipes themselves to hide their awful soldering. The plumber that did that takes very little pride in his work. I'm guessing they went for this all electric system as you're not on a gas main ? I take it you've noted the annual servicing requirement on the immersion heater ?

We had some of these cases at the school where I worked and the kids did exactly the same thing. We asked our Design + Technology Technician to make us something. He cut some black acrylic rectangles the size of the hole and some MDF that was a little bigger that the plastic, to stop any flex and to take up the space between the front and the back. Mounted in with hot glue, there was no movement what so ever. If you manage to find some original blanks from somewhere, chances are the same damage will happen again and again. Hot glueing in the original non broken ones slowed down the vandalism but didn't stop it. Some students i think took it as a challenge. Once they were replaced with our mod, it stopped.

There's coreboot https://www.coreboot.org/ I'd run something like heavyload and monitor the temperatures before thinking about overclocking. There's not normally much thermal headroom in laptops. The heat pipe tends to cover both CPU and GPU. Increasing the temperature in one will increase it on the other.

My guess would be something on the light sensor, a dodgy light sensor or a poor connection to the IR LEDs. You could try swapping the ports to rule out power issues but I don't think it's that.

BIOS latest version ? Remove sticks and check the slots, perhaps a bit of dust has got in and is causing issues. Test one stick at a time with memtest.

It sounds like the KVM is failing. I've seen faulty power supplies in HP IP KVMs do similar.

I'd guess at failing NAND. Cheap memory stick or branded ?

As someone who fixes TVs, I'm going to say get yourself a second hand Panasonic Kurro. Blacks are properly black and the picture is amazing only the new OLED TVs give a better picture but they are expensive. LEDs in modern TVs do not last long especially when TVs coming out of the factory are set to full brightness. Forget smart built in. Get an Android box with the same features. If you do buy a new LED TV, ensure you turn down the brightness or backlights and get one with a 5 year warranty, Richer Sounds provide them.
