Thanks for the suggestions. I recently got rid of a few laptops. Regretting it now as I should have removed the keyboards. Grrr.. Google seems a fine place and I found a website with plenty of spares. Thanks again.

Hi all, I was wondering if you know a website where they sell HP Probook spares? Line keyboards, optical drives, screens and so on? We have a bunch of them with devastated keyboards and no budget to replace for new models... Cheers

Hi guys and gals, I am looking for some good IP phone system supplier- we are looking for installation and support. I looked into a few but I'd like to hear if you have a good one that never let you down. Thanks

Bit late on this but I just had this issue and logging off and re-deploying solved it. -
Virtualising SIMS (and other servers)
blu4 replied to Archipelego1's topic in Thin Client and Virtual Machines
We have moved from a single server to double virtualised environement in about a week. I have created a brand new domain. Starting from scratch is way easier and nicer to document. The SIMS server was just a matter of creating a high spec'd VM and getting Capita to migrate your database from the old server to the new VM. When we did it I think it took them about a day to get everything across and on day two just a few hours to finish up. -
Problem solved... Only took a reboot. I don't like the idea of it happening again though. Thank you for all the suggestions! I will still perform a checkdisk on that drive.
-
Same thing when browsing the server directly, logged on as local administrator.
-
It doesn't. Very generic error. This is the XML view: - [/b] - 57 3 2 0x80000000000000 1032573 System FILESTAFF01.domain.local - 00000000010000000200000039000480000000000E0000C000000000000000000000000000000000

Can't do a checkdisk on the affected VHD.. "cannot open volume for direct access". Check disk works fine on the other two.
-
The disk is a fixed size, 511GB. Files have to be there, not possible they were deleted. It's not letting me do a chkdsk even in elevated CMD- error chkdsk cannot open volume for direct access. Update: I can do a chec disk on all the other two VHDs but not on the one that has the issue.

Hi, I'd appreciate help with this as it's critical... and I'm pulling my hair out We are running a virtual file server that has got three disks atattched: E: Admin Data F: Teacher Data G: Other shares This is the problem- there are multiple shares on the E: drive and people can connect to them and browse folders but they are ALL empty. The F: and G: drives are unaffected. Weird thing is, since all the folders are empty, why is the VHD still 240GB? It's the size that it normally is. I have checked the logs and I'm getting a LOT of the following: Event 57: NTFS The system failed to flush data to the transaction log. Corruption may occur. Event 51: Disk An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk3\DR3 during a paging operation. I have tried removing and re-atattching the VHD to the virtual machine. Did not work. I have also checked the SAN's where the CVS resides for disk errors. All fine. I did not reboot the server yet as the other two shares are in heavily in use. There is pleny of RAM to spare and CPU overhead. It was working fine last friday and I come to work, on a monday morning, to this. Please help. I'm about to lose my sanity (I'm on my own at the moment). Thank you for all the help.

Hi gents, gals Microsoft has included Forms for Office 365 (free survey money, yay!). My question is- is it possible to disable this for a group or a certain number of users or globally? The only was that I found is to do it manually for each individual user. I was to disable it for everyone and then enable for few. I was to avoid survey spam, it's a terrible virus. Thanks!

Hi forum! We have a SAN running 12x 3TB SAS drives in RAID 6. One of the drives failed and has to be replaced. Our supplier sent us a 4TB drive. Exactly the same model and speed, just 1TB more. Would it be a problem if I used a 4TB in a 3TB array? Thanks

Hi All, We have the most bizarre issue with our finance system- Civica. It has been working fine for the past two months that I have worked at my new place. Below is a screenshot of the issue: This error appears when some users try to approve financial documents via the web portal. It is not the user, but the machine as we have tried doing this on a different laptop/desktop. I have found a way to make it work on the affected computer. You login to the web portal on IE, go to the requisition you want to approve, then you copy the URL, paste it in to Google Chrome and it works. When you do it via chrome on its own, it doesn't. This issue is so bizarre that I have hope that I've explained this clearly enough. We already have the software developer team looking into this but I also would like an opinion from the forum- does this look like a browser issue to you or the Civica server being a douche? All the support at Civica is stumped by this problem and nobody seems to have an idea what is causing this.

I'm having real trouble understanding those "transactions". What are those? Is is a request to copy data to the cloud? So, a single file copy would be 1 transaction?
-
Hi all, Me and my network manager are trying to figure out Azure pricing. What we want to do is simply copy a backup to the cloud. Every week. That's it. We are unsure if we need blob storage or file storage. The blob storage is a low cheaper than file storage. We have 5TB of data. Can someone explain please?

Veeam Backup moaning about AutoRecovery
blu4 replied to blu4's topic in Thin Client and Virtual Machines
No, it's a Server 2012 Standard R2. -
Morning guys/gals, I've recently set up a backup for our VM environment using Veeam Backup & Replication. One of the VM's I get a warning- "Failed to update AutoRecovery changes for disk D:\Hyper-V\Virtual HDD\Data.vhdx. change tracking will be disabled for the next job run" Can anyone let me know what how this warning can be solved? The backup is done fine and the VM has no inconsistencies. It says the change tracking will be disabled but I get that every time it backs up.
-
We have one instance, on the first server.
-
Hi forum, We have got Veeam backup and replication for our servers. Is there a piece of software from Veeam that would let me manage both the servers (replication and backup) from my work computer? I had a look at Veeam One- is this the software? I don't want to use the license just yet for it.
-
thanks for the tip! Great words of advice, thanks a lot. It's my first time doing this sort of project. Appreciate the help.

Unless it's a hardware issue, the second server is a failover with replicated virtual machines. The reason why I put it on just the 10Gbps link is that it would make the replication faster and it's a 10Gbps link, so why not use it anyway. We can't afford to get a 10Gbps switch at the moment. You made a very valid point though. I completely disregarded this fact.
-
Yea, just realised that. The vSwitch still thinks it's a 10Gbps however the link speed is 1gbps. I need to rethink my strategy.
-
Okay, I will try to explain this the best way I can so bear with me... We have two servers, VH01 and VH02. VH02 is connected to VH01 with a 10Gbps fibre link (Intel NIC) VH01 is connected to the core switch with a cat6 1Gbps link (Emulex NIC is 10gbps but the core switch is 1gbps, so the connection is only 1Gbps) The fibre link (Intel NIC) on VH01 (that connects to VH02) is bridged with the 10Gbps Emulex NIC so that VH02 can access the network. I have done it this way because the Virtual Machine replication traffic ideally should go over the 10Gbps NIC to avoid hogging the main network NIC. Now, the problem- when I copy from VH01 to VH02 (connected with a 10Gbps fibre) I only max at 1Gbps even though both adapters report 10Gbps and the bridge reports 20Gbps. Picture added for even less confusion. tl;dr servers connected with 10Gbps but files copy at 1Gbps
