Disaster Recovery Virtualization Project
blu4 replied to blu4's topic in Thin Client and Virtual Machines
Stop reading my mind Yes, it is broadberry. I'll look into the DDR4 route as well but our budget is tight as a drum.. I'd love to go there but the cost... Even if it is a few hundred more. -

They work closely with VMware so it's safe to assume that it is made for virtualization. They bring it up everywhere. I'll be going with microsoft hyperv. -
Hello! Some time ago I posted asking for virtualization advice (here: http://www.edugeek.net/forums/thin-client-virtual-machines/144015-failover-cluster-one-san.html). Time has passed and we decided to go with two servers, replication and local storage. I have never done virtualization but I hope I have a good estimation. We are a school of: 550 pupils 50 staff Computer wise: 300 devices (desktops, laptops) The devices are used all day and so is the data on our current SAN. We are planning to virtualize the following: Solus SIMS DNS DHCP AD with Group Policy File Server Moodle (when finished) Print Server Cash office Exchange (in near future) Impero Server, ID Manager, Cashless catering and other little services- non critical Below is the server spec: Supermicro SuperStorage Server 6027R-E1R12T | SSG-6027R-E1R12T 2x E5-2630 V2 Intel Six-Core Xeon 2.6GHz 15MB Cache - 80 Watts 8x 8GB 1600MHz DDR3 ECC Reg w/Parity DIMM Dual Rank 12x 1TB Enterprise Class SATA 7200RPM - 3.5" - Seagate CONSTELLATION CS Intel PRO/1000 Dual Server Adapter RJ45 10/100/1000 Dual Port 3 Year Standard Warranty 9-5 Technical Support for System Lifetime 48 Hour Comprehensive System Testing Procedure UK Country Kit & Mains Cable The cost of a single server is £4,066.88 Ex. VAT RRP: £4,880.26 I really would appreciate advice on this. Thanks a lot

The DC is connected to a brand new UPS bought a few months ago. It is running on physical hardware- I will try running memory checks on it.
-
Hey, We recently (past 3 months) started having major problems with our main DC. It keeps restarting without any reason! On the event log I get kernel power error. I have attached a picture. After the first time this happened, I read about some forums and people said it's the power supply- we replaced that and the problem still persisted. Any ideas where the problem might be? Thanks

Hey, I was wondering if it is possible to have a set up with headphones and speakers: -When I turn ON the headphones they override the speakers -When I turn OFF the headphones they get overridden by the speakers Is this possible? I couldn't find out the answer myself.
-
I just got unity- I will need to return it. I've got dual GTX680 OC and it stutters and runs at 23-25FPS on LOW with AA and vsync off.
-
I've installed the latest patch and updated my drivers- runs at ultra 1440p at 35-40 fps.. ^^
-
I've got an FX8350 with 8GB ram, but not on an SSD. I'll doubt that putting it on SSD storage will make a difference- I think there are some patches for it.
-
But I would expect two GTX680 to run it at least on high..
-
I got FC4 but it's a little bit glitchy and unoptimized. I have two GTX680 OC on water and the game runs on medium @ 34-40FPS... I ran FC3 on Ultra at 50fps.. Something isn't right here- I believe because Ubisoft put their hands on this title.

Thanks, I have added this feature to the File Services role. I will give this a go.

Hi, I was wondering if you can limit user area sizes via GPO. I tired using the GPO option "Limit user area" but it isn't working. We have pupil folders made by AD when creating their profile- I want to limit that. What is the way to do it? Thanks
-
Why did they do it the long winded way? What was the MAJOR reason for not using domain GPOs? They save so much time. Sorry for the lack of contribution-I am curious why he set it up this way.

Hey, Anyone played The last of us on ps4? Is it worth buying? I got it on PS3 but want to switch to a PS4 soon.
-
Hey, We have a few students that have been banned from the network- I have to disable their account manualy every break and lunch and then enable after. If there a way of automating this with a script? The logon hours on AD are not good enough.
-
Managed to fix it- I had a clash of static IP addresses. Works like a charm now
-
It is correct- the nano editor just shows up wrong- I used vim here to show you that is is correct format.
-
I am accessing it from the IP address- it works for a while then stops... So it has to be pointing correctly otherwise it would just 404 right away. Btw- I am using hyperv for the server. This is my config php file:

quad sli with titan black z should give you 4k 60fps xD
