  1. Hi all, We are using the smoothwall source exceptions to bypass the filtering for a bunch of things around our place, like translator pens, home assistant devices, raspberry pi's and some heating controllers. At first, the list was easy to manage but after a while, having 100 records in one long list is getting out of hand. Is it possible to group them in any way? For example: Raspberry Pi's xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx Home Assistant Devices xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx I tried doing a location group with the IP's included and then making a policy as "do not inspect" but that isn't working. Any ideas? Cheers
  2. Hi, We're having a peculiar issue regarding teams, it's regarding chatting with students. So for example, I am unable to find [email protected] through my teams but my colleague can? I have checked the account of the student and everything is correct, licenses, permissions, groups etc.. Even in classes they are able to communicate. I do have the setting "scope directory search using an exchange address book policy". Any ideas? Cheers
  3. Hi, We recently acquired a lovely new interactive panel for our meeting room, a ViewSonic IFP6552-1A. I also got a camera with it for Teams meetings and so on. So the issue is- I can't seem to install any apps on the board. I have a selection of APK's but none seem to work. I double tap, click install, it does something and then says "App not installed", no other error. I have followed the guide below: How to install custom apps in the Android module for IFP50 series displays : ViewSonic Customer Care (freshdesk.com) I did everything as per the guide to no avail. Any ideas? I contacted ViewSonic directly but it might take time before they reply. Thanks
  4. No- it keeps happening to staff as well, sometimes it updates and sometimes it doesn't (but mostly doesn't). - - - Updated - - - Do you have this running in your setup? Would appreciate ANYTHING only to get this image off the desktops ;<
  5. Hi all, I am really hoping someone could shed some light on an issue we've been having for quite a while. I reckon it was maybe in June/July, all of a sudden ALL of our student machines pop up with this: In a nutshell, this is an issue for every single device because no matter if I update it on my profile or local admin profile, this pop up every time a student logs on. It's causing delays in learning and so far we had to resolve to using Teams Online (not ideal). There is a "solution" here: Teams needs an update issue - WinCert The solution above is really out of the question because I cannot do every single computer manually. So far I have tried doing the things below: -Deploy the latest Teams.msi via SCCM -Deploy Teams via the O365 Packager Both of them give me the same results. There was a solution that the shortcut for Teams should be this so that it invokes the update as soon as it launches: %localappdata%\Microsoft\Teams\Update.exe --processStart "Teams.exe" but that doesn't work either. So my plea, is there a way around this? Would appreciate all the help... Cheers
  6. We had a similar issue at our site when we had ALL of our units go offline. Well, you could still ping them but they were not responding to any commands. We fixed it by going to Configuration Utility on the server, TCP/IP tab, select all units and click "detect". That worked for us.

  9. Honestly if I were you I'd barge in there without asking for any permission. The level of incomptence they have shown is off the chart. You are talking about important equipment here. Your involvment in all of this is justified. Don't be afraid to take charge here.
  10. Nothing in the logs. Just vdisk scrubs and checks. No warnings at all. Couldn't find anything in the CLI either.
  11. Hi, Today I logged on to our SAN and it states that it's "degraded". I checked everything, including CLI and it reports nothing. All vdisks are okay, so are the PSUs and controllers. It's a little bit slow on logon though and I get disconnected from time to time. Any ideas that might cause this? Thanks
  12. Hi all, We are experiencing a really weird issue with a mailbox. We have a cover email that is full managed by 5 people. They use Outlook 2016 to manage that inbox. After they came back from half term the mailbox is empty in Outlook 2016 but all emails are in the OWA. I already tried re-adding those users but that didn't seem to help. Thanks
  13. If you're worried, try Microsoft Forms if you have O365 for Education. Data stored in Ireland.

  16. I had a look through their website about GDPR. Nothing so far- are you aware if they are putting something in place? I like the way it looks..
  17. Can you control what data it pulls from SIMS?
  18. Hello, We have recently opted out of class charts to save some money. We went with another company but they closed down their doors before we could set anything up. Do you use any good seating plan software in your school? We would be leaning towards it being very simple but it must have SIMS integration. Thanks
  19. Hi all, We are installing Smoothwall over the Easter Half term. I have a question regarding the authentication to the internet. At the moment we have got a client that sits on the laptop/desktop and that reports back to the web filter. Does Smoothwall have an equivalent of that or is it only done via a Proxy? Thanks
  20. I'll try the cable trick you mentioned. With the Wi-Fi, we tried logging on on one channel XYZ, I then go to another part of the school, different AP but still same channel XYZ- Issue still occurs. Chaning a channel doesnt do anything.
  21. Well, we got a laptop this morning with this issue. We hooked it up with a cable and that didn't seem to work. We have already rebooted and AP controller and checked all the settings and all seems good. We have an MSM765ZL module as our Wi-Fi controller. Other laptops did behave when plugged in. That's the bizzare thing about it- we cannot seem to replicate the issue.
  22. Hello all, Right- we have the most bizzare situation at work now.. We have got 3x DC's on SRV 2012 R2. Two weeks ago there was a power cut and all of them had a dirty shutdown. My collegue comes in the following monday and SOME (<-- important) users have slow log on times, on laptops only. Desktops work fine. So we try to locate the issue, nothing in the logs. All of a sudden the issue fixed itself for the users that had the problem and "moved on" to the next batch of users that could log on fine. @mrbios on Discord kindly suggested to enable verbose logging, we did and we found out that the logon gets stuck on "applying folder redirection policy". We disabled that policy but issue still persists. Thigs that we did and sort of work: -If you disable the Wifi you logon instantly, turn back on, log off and issue is still there. -Wait for about 35-45 minutes. No thanks. -Re-image the machine, that works right away. -Run in safe mode with networking. So it's definately some sort of policy that's slowing down the logon but we can't figure out which on it is. I did a little research and this is what I found, http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows-server-2008-r2/86860-slow-logons-applying-folder-redirection.html We actually had that disabled on FSRM, we disabled that policy with hope it would work but no. The issue seems to rectify itself and it moves on between users. I tried explaining this as well as I can but it's like trying to describe a colour to a blind person. It's less persistent than last week but still causing issues for us- I am buried in laptops, so is my collegue. I'd appreciate any help, please ask away for more information. Cheers
  23. Hi all, I have finally managed to get to this point... Appraisal: Get a new phone system- Check Quotes: Got 5 various, hosted and on premises- Check Decision:Well, I am down to Mitel vs Splicecom- I already know how the splicecom system works and the phone quality as I had that at my old job. I had a look at the Mitel handsets, the 6XXX ones are so much nicer than the splicecom ones. We are doing 5 year operational lease on this and the monthly costs between the two are very similar. The Mitel has the same functionality as Splicecom but is slightly more expensive. My dillema- when something is too good to be true, it probably is. Do any of you have any experience with the Mitel system? I really do not want to step into something that I will regret later on. I have a meeting next week and that's when the decision is made- I'd really appreciate any input on this. Thanks
  24. Morning, I want to add some branding to the "stale" office 365 login page. I go via the Admin centre to Azure AD -> Configure -> Customize Branding. I add all the necessary files and I get green ticks when it's done. Issue is that it's not showing when I type in my login or whenevery I go through this link directly to our organization https://login.microsoftonline.com/?whr=yourdomain.com (I do replace the yourdomain with my domain, duh!)Do I have to wait some time for this to apply or should it be instant? Cheers EDIT: Just had to wait 10 minutes. It's working now.
  25. Hi all, In recent days I had a couple of pupils come to me saying their work is "missing". Naturally I asked if they have saved it and they said yes. It is a part of their coursework so they wouldn't lie about it. We are running a Hyper-V Server 2008 R2. I checked the event logs and two weeks ago I had a multitude of NTFS errors about the file structure being corrupt. If you need any more information let me know. I'd appreciate the help as I don't want to be bombarded with missing work :| Cheers
