  1. Hi Can anyone recommend a door video phone that we can integrate with our current VOIP system and ring the main office phone when the call button is pressed? Thanks
  2. That makes more sense! The clerk has put EFSA and I couldn't understand what Food had to do with it
  3. That was my argument as I wouldn't know who each account was for. I wasn't being provided with names, just a request for 15 generic accounts which the chair would give out. My concern from safeguarding stance would be if any of the accounts were used to contact students, register with 'adult' websites, etc and with security generic accounts are more liable to be hacked and compromised. As a governor can you see why there might be the need for a generic rather than named account. Thanks for your input/advice
  4. Hi I have been asked to provide generic (Gov1@...) email addresses for our school governors, which I have said I'm not happy to do because of Safeguarding/Security issues. I've said I can create them individual emails, which isn't a problem. The clerk to governors has just emailed back saying that the chair and vice governor has approved it and they need them to comply with EFSA legislation (not sure what that is). What does everyone else do? Do you allow generic emails? Does anyone know of official advice? Thanks

    Room booking

We use Room Booking System and it works really well. Syncs with SIMS every night, or you can do a manual sync too. It has a helpdesk function too which we've found really useful for our IT and Premises department. Costs approx £700 per year though so not sure how that will fit in with cheap...
  6. We've been with them for three years now and apart from the initial setup/teething issues the broadband connection has always been reliable - I'd say we've had less than 5 downtimes in the three years and at their worse only a couple of hours. If you PM Dave he's really good at getting the issues resolved.
  7. We've had connection issues whole site for the past couple of days. Intermittent internet access for all staff/students and not access to the portal.
  8. I agree but I've checked on the Microsoft Volume Licensing Centre and it's the Win 10 Education key I'm using. Plus all our other PCs have built to Win 10 Edu and not changed...
  9. Hi Very random issue that I've never come across before and can't fathom out. We've built some HP desktops recently to Windows 10 Education (1809), once built we've logged on checked activation, etc they're also showing in our console at Win Edu 10 machines. Come into the office the next day and they've become Windows 10 Pro machines... I've created a new build disk, checked the activation key and all states Windows 10 Education. How/why?? Thanks
  10. We're in the same situation! Our business manager is having to deal with their ridiculous pricing to replace the Win 7 tills and server. I didn't think the till connected to the Internet though so do they really need to be upgraded? I know it's not ideal but they don't connect to our network... Awful company to deal with, they try and overcharge you for everything despite paying for their support. The wanted £200 from us to install the software on one PC and I had to fight to get the install pack from them and do it myself. Not surprised to hear they've been taken over from Capital - they seem to be taking over the world!
  11. We're using an RM Network in our school and with that we've been given free licenses for Minecraft Education Edition. However we need an msi installation in order to install Minecraft which is nowhere to be found. I have tried multiple exe to msi wrappers but non will work. Has anyone had to deal with this on an RM Network? Thanks
  12. That made me sit up and listen! Where does it say free?? Thanks
  13. Hi We've invested in a few Chromebooks for pupil premium students to take home for revision, homework, etc. I'm trying to work out the best way of managing them... We have a Google domain so could add to that but that doesn't allow you to monitor usage, or apply filtering offsite. I could set up as a stand alone and add the students as 'children' which would allow me to set screen times, allow/block Apps, parental filters and locate the device. What do others do? Thanks
  14. We used C-Learning, they were brilliant! Gave us a class set of Chromebooks to test and play around with and we've not looked back since. We now have 200+ Chromebooks in school that are booked out every lesson and work really well!
  15. They have some help guides here with info on how to add to Ipads: https://www.schoolsbroadband.co.uk/how-to-guides
  16. Hi I'm trying to book some train tickets on trainline.com. I can add to the basket but when I click on Pay with Paypal it opens a new window which I select my card and click continue but I then get the following error: Don't see the secure Paypal browser? We'll help you re-launch the new window to complete purchase. The window then disappears and I'm back on the Trainline checkout page having not bought the tickets. I've tried Google Chrome, Internet Explorer, I've allowed pop ups and redirects and have tested on our server too which is unfiltered but still no joy? Anyone have any ideas? Thanks
  17. Hi I been left with 15 ZyXEL switches that have not been configured after the company we employed did a runner. What I want to set up is a VLAN for our VOIP phones. I have never set up a VLAN before and have limited networking knowledge. What I need to know before I attempt this is: Can I setup a VLAN that will allow all VOIP phones to connect to, regardless of what switch they're plugged into? Currently we have 39 phones that are plugged into all 15 switches. If a phone does not have a dedicated network port and is connected through the computer can I still add to the VLAN? More questions to come once I know I can do the above or not! Many thanks
  18. Hi Does anyone use My School Phone VOIP through Schools Broadband? And the Yealink phones they recommend? They seem to be very cheap but if they're only for 3 years we'd rather not spend a fortune. Thanks
  19. Hi We're in the process of renewing our Broadband and VOIP. Hopefully by using the same supplier for both it will iron out some of the issues we currently have. Has anyone used Atomwides solution through LGfL? My School Phones through Schools Broadband? Thanks
  20. I'd checked the DHCP and we still have plenty of IPs. Will check timeout settings. Thanks! - - - Updated - - - How do I check for a rogue DHCP server? Thanks
  21. Logged this with Schools Broadband support yesterday but students are still able to access YouTube. Netsweeper gives a connection error when I log into it so it's hard for us to try and monitor the traffic and what URLs are being allowed (I've logged a call for that this morning). Frustrating that something that should be so simple takes too long to be resolved...
  22. Hi We have 200 Chromebooks on site and have recently been having DHCP lookup failures on them. Sometimes just the odd one, or two but other time the whole class so it can be quite disruptive for the teacher. They're setup via a static IP to allow through our firewall and filtering set up via Netsweeper. We use Unifi wireless APs. Any ideas what could be causing the issue? Thanks
  23. They were already on it Dave! I just wanted to give a heads up to anyone else that wasn't aware. We've had this issue a couple of times recently though despite YouTube being blocked on Netsweeper-not sure why.
  24. Not a helpful post Perhaps an offer of how to use/setup WSUS would have been kinder - we're not all experts...
