  1. This isn't a good argument, it is increasingly not the case that the world revolves around Microsoft software.
  2. Linux isn't a homogeneous system like Windows. If you want to lock down the graphical interface you will need to choose a desktop windows manager that will let you do this, both Gnome and KDE will let you do this for example. https://www.maketecheasier.com/configure-linux-for-children/ That said, Salt can aggressively manage the files on a system (In Linux everything is a file) and thereby enforce a default configuration. https://docs.saltstack.com/en/latest/ref/states/all/salt.states.file.html If you combine these two aspects together, you get what you want.
  3. I refer to my earlier comment about configuration management, one aspect of that is bascially GPOs (You can consider Linux configuration management systems as SCCM + GPO if you want an analogy). Although terminology differs between the tools, it's the same basic theory. For example Salt Stack has a concept of 'states'. You can ask salt to enforce a configuration 'state' for a group of machines. This can be as simple has having paticular software installed, or you can enforce a uniform configuration for the software and ensure the service is running on the machines in the group. https://docs.saltstack.com/en/latest/topics/tutorials/states_pt1.html
  4. Yes, Azure AD should protect you if this is failed / disabled by not letting you do password resets in O365.
  5. You can at least look at the feasibility and costs involved in such a migration even if you have no intention of going through with it.
  6. AD Writeback will not occur unless you run the command. This'll break your Windows 10 clients ability to authenticate against Azure AD.
  7. If are serious about a Linux back end (or even your front end), please learn about configuration management software. I don't care which one (although we can have that discussion over in the *nix forum if you wish). You're life will be vastly easier if you orchestrate your infrastructure with one of these tools and sets you up perfectly for Cloudy based DevOps in the future. It's also a super desirable skill on your CV.
  8. Oooh that's pretty.
  9. I spotted this blog post today. Another step in licensing transformation: new policy and guidance for Enterprise Agreement customers - Microsoft Volume Licensing Blog - Site Home - TechNet Blogs Do the seat / device limits apply to education EES?
  10. Managed to fix my nether portal so it doesn't 'jump' to yours @localzuk using direwolf20's Journeymap trick. My portal is south and down from yours about 100 blocks in the nether. It's a stone block tower at the edge of the flesh overlooking the western lava ocean, you can't miss it.
  11. We buy from Dell Direct. We get the Latitudes (only Latitudes have a TPM chip for Bitlocker) with SSDs. I personally have an E6430.
  12. Also if your Tier 1 storage is flash based. Fragmentation doesn't matter.
  13. Also worth noting is the MS SQL Server 2012 Best Practice Analyser. https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=29302 It will tell you if you set anything up wrong.
  14. If there is a cable fault then it will try and negotiate down to a lower speed. Another symptom would be RX/TX errors in the 'netstat -s' output or fluctuating ping times.
  15. I think maybe it crashed and I had connected just after it was reloading
  16. The server seems very laggy
  17. I'd guess it's the startinginventory mod. The config should look like this by default: TConstruct:pickaxe,1,0,{InfiTool:{BaseDurability:121,Head:3,HeadEXP:1L,BaseAttack:3,ToolEXP:1L,HarvestLevel:0,Attack:3,RenderHead:3,ModDurability:0.0f,Handle:0,Broken:0b,Shoddy:0.0f,RenderHandle:0,Accessory:0,MiningSpeed:400,RenderAccessory:0,ToolLevel:1,HarvestLevelModified:0b,Unbreaking:0,Damage:0,BonusDurability:0,TotalDurability:121,Modifiers:0},display:{Name:"§fFlint Pickaxe"}} TConstruct:hatchet,1,0,{InfiTool:{BaseDurability:121,Head:3,BaseAttack:5,ToolEXP:0L,HarvestLevel:1,Attack:5,RenderHead:3,ModDurability:0.0f,Handle:0,Broken:0b,Shoddy:0.0f,RenderHandle:0,MiningSpeed:400,ToolLevel:1,Unbreaking:0,Damage:0,BonusDurability:0,TotalDurability:121,Modifiers:0},display:{Name:"§fFlint Hatchet"}} TConstruct:shovel,1,0,{InfiTool:{BaseDurability:121,Head:3,BaseAttack:4,ToolEXP:0L,HarvestLevel:1,Attack:4,RenderHead:3,ModDurability:0.0f,Handle:0,Broken:0b,Shoddy:0.0f,RenderHandle:0,MiningSpeed:400,ToolLevel:1,Unbreaking:0,Damage:0,BonusDurability:0,TotalDurability:121,Modifiers:0},display:{Name:"§fFlint Shovel"}} TConstruct:dagger,1,0,{InfiTool:{BaseDurability:121,Head:3,BaseAttack:3,ToolEXP:0L,HarvestLevel:1,Attack:3,RenderHead:3,ModDurability:0.0f,Handle:0,Broken:0b,Shoddy:0.0f,RenderHandle:0,Accessory:0,MiningSpeed:400,RenderAccessory:0,ToolLevel:1,Unbreaking:0,Damage:0,BonusDurability:0,TotalDurability:121,Modifiers:0},display:{Name:"§fFlint Dagger"}} flansmod:m9,1,0 OpenBlocks:sleepingBag,1,0 harvestcraft:epicbaconItem,2,0 flansmod:m9Ammo,5,0 If you don't want the guns: TConstruct:pickaxe,1,0,{InfiTool:{BaseDurability:121,Head:3,HeadEXP:1L,BaseAttack:3,ToolEXP:1L,HarvestLevel:0,Attack:3,RenderHead:3,ModDurability:0.0f,Handle:0,Broken:0b,Shoddy:0.0f,RenderHandle:0,Accessory:0,MiningSpeed:400,RenderAccessory:0,ToolLevel:1,HarvestLevelModified:0b,Unbreaking:0,Damage:0,BonusDurability:0,TotalDurability:121,Modifiers:0},display:{Name:"§fFlint Pickaxe"}} TConstruct:hatchet,1,0,{InfiTool:{BaseDurability:121,Head:3,BaseAttack:5,ToolEXP:0L,HarvestLevel:1,Attack:5,RenderHead:3,ModDurability:0.0f,Handle:0,Broken:0b,Shoddy:0.0f,RenderHandle:0,MiningSpeed:400,ToolLevel:1,Unbreaking:0,Damage:0,BonusDurability:0,TotalDurability:121,Modifiers:0},display:{Name:"§fFlint Hatchet"}} TConstruct:shovel,1,0,{InfiTool:{BaseDurability:121,Head:3,BaseAttack:4,ToolEXP:0L,HarvestLevel:1,Attack:4,RenderHead:3,ModDurability:0.0f,Handle:0,Broken:0b,Shoddy:0.0f,RenderHandle:0,MiningSpeed:400,ToolLevel:1,Unbreaking:0,Damage:0,BonusDurability:0,TotalDurability:121,Modifiers:0},display:{Name:"§fFlint Shovel"}} TConstruct:dagger,1,0,{InfiTool:{BaseDurability:121,Head:3,BaseAttack:3,ToolEXP:0L,HarvestLevel:1,Attack:3,RenderHead:3,ModDurability:0.0f,Handle:0,Broken:0b,Shoddy:0.0f,RenderHandle:0,Accessory:0,MiningSpeed:400,RenderAccessory:0,ToolLevel:1,Unbreaking:0,Damage:0,BonusDurability:0,TotalDurability:121,Modifiers:0},display:{Name:"§fFlint Dagger"}} OpenBlocks:sleepingBag,1,0 harvestcraft:epicbaconItem,2,0
  18. I still can't mine anything with these wooden tinkers tools. Has anyone found a way to get flint? @localzuk you really shouldn't of taken the starting tools off us.
  19. There's no harder ores / custom ore gen. Plus we actually have smelteries this time.
  20. I see an option called ATG though? Alternate Terrain Generation. Seems to produce similar results.
  21. Cool. RTG again?
  22. It might be the radiation sickness talking but I don't think this pack is playable yet. Can we try the original revolution pack? https://www.atlauncher.com/pack/Revolution
  23. You could tweak/nerf the tesseracts rather than removing them if that's all you are bothered about. Just remember tesseracts and enderchests / endertanks are a lot less laggy than 1200 blocks of buildcraft pipes.
  24. I did try removing things. But honestly other than the 'optional' mods it just breaks if you try and take core mods out (I tried to remove Galacticraft).
  25. The sooner the better.
