I've got some rooms with TVs and dual-screens. Got the teacher monitor on DisplayPort-DVI and the classroom monitor on VGA splitter from PC and to the monitor and TV. Using the onboard graphics.

Time to get management to pony up, sorry dude. No such thing as a free lunch.

Isn't this the same as this example? What app would you use to type a letter - A Word processor program Give an example of an app like this - Microsoft Word. I know Adobe Photoshop is the world leader/number 1 product I'm not going to disagree there. But that's a bit like us techies saying we can't use a Phillips screwdriver as we prefer a flathead/slotted screwdriver - even though the flathead screwdriver could fit in the phillips screw (probably not the best example) It's teaching the the principle and skills surely, not teaching the application itself? Otherwise we could make money doing Photoshop courses on an evening

What sort of warranty are they under with Biostore if supplied by them? That's the kicker.

We're in the same place to be honest. Casio dropping out the market with the lamp free ones is a pain in the bum. Epson are still my favourites to be honest. Epson EB-X39 is a recent one we've been supplied with. I'd love to do exactly that. We're not in a position to do that either though. [emoji26] I'd like to get rid of the 4:3 smartboards and replace with interactive flat-panels all over. Just can't see that happening at £300 versus £1K optimistically.

We're still looking at Serif Affinity Photo to be honest. The feedback from our Art teacher last year was positive on the trial we got from Serif (Adobe never bothered to get back to us). Annoyingly that teacher left now I have to do it all over again. [emoji23]

It's the same "I cannot teach with X / Y /Z" claim from teachers isn't it though? No, it's not a show-stopper, the world doesn't stop revolving. It's an inconvenience if the sound, projector etc doesn't work. If SIMs doesn't work, you can take a paper register. We all survived fine before the tech came along. There's alternative plans for most of these situations. It just means they have to work a little harder in the lesson and not rely on the tech as it's an easy copout to blame the tech not working. In businesses some staff deliberately log tickets with IT as they say IT haven't fixed it and I can't do any work so they can sit around all day without doing any work and get away with it. This is from people I've worked with as teams and end users and told me this! If you claimed you cannot teach purely due to tech issue that could happen at any time to anybody I'd seriously be questioning your ability to cope with situations like this. I'd imagine for most of us these issues are sorted the same day which is a pretty damm good service to me.

Someone wiser than me said... "Are we teaching them to use Photoshop, or teaching them photo-editing skills?" I thought that was a very apt point.

Could you do this via task scheduler and display a message? The cynic in me says come on....can they seriously not tell when it's the end of the lesson? [emoji33]

Has your risk assessment included IT though? Surely the staff mixing through bubbles are the ones likely to be the spreaders?

Exactly. This is when we're at the mercy of cloud-based systems and GUI changes. For better or worse but it will be IT getting the blame for stuff that's our of our control [emoji26]

We had similar with SIMs last year changing icons that have been the same as long as I've been using it. Including changing the SIMS icon from blue to white apparently due to wanting to be a gender-neutral icon.

I've literally said to our SLT if they're not getting back to us now, god forbid if we have an actual problem with them!
-
Their Twitter page has lots of users complaining about no response either recently as Monday [emoji33][emoji26] I've sent that to our SLT who are complaining about things not being done.

Tried Tuesday to get hold of them and today. Neither time is the phone being answered - working from home apparently or emails acknowledged. Apparently going as "Community Brands UK"?

Which model out of interest?

Yes only when it actually stops something in a lesson e.g network socket issue the other day - purely as they've pulled the cable and broken the socket on the wall. Otherwise everyone has been told no - to reduce PPE usage etc. I wear a mask whenever I'm not in the office. Hit and miss and No. New starters have been told this and given a sheet saying this as I created the sheet myself. No visits to IT office, must be emailed or phoned etc. Yep the only place I don't wear a mask is when I'm in my office. I have a bottle of hand sanitizer in the office and around the school sites/classrooms. Exactly as yourself - skeleton crew in the summer and sometimes didn't see another soul all day. Bit different to last and this week.

Not with one of these, but we had a Roland sticker cutter in another job from DT. We had to just cut our losses in the end and write it off. Couldn't get the driver or software to work at all. It was about 10-15x years old then approx anyway.

Majority of the Casio ones are ones I inherited. There's not a single one mounted that has an adequate focus/image in the screen. But with zoom and basic keystone correction I can't do a lot else at the moment.

For business use - I don't think you're gonna get anyone here who's gonna disagree with you.

Shocking mate... With so many proper video/access control systems like Paxton etc out there they brought something they saw on the tele, designed for home use As IT pros we all try to save money and be as efficient as we can with money, to the point of reusing keyboards and mice not just chucking them out because they are "old". Yet some other departments go ahead and do this sort of stuff, yet don't get chastised or questioned as to why Yet as the pros we don't get consulted on matters relating to IT.

Nice. I think this stuff is cool.
