Slows lessons down having to wait for me etc. apparently! It's things at the minute like Task Manager and Regional Settings. For some reason some account are getting US keyboard layouts, not sure why. Which is fair enough, but then other students change it to Chinese meaning I have to re-image the machine. With the Task Manager I don't think they realise the process which can be stopped by students to bypass things. IMO students account should be locked down to the max and staff should only have the rights they need. Staff with Admin accounts wouldn't be able to fix user related problems anyway so...!

Morning! So I've been presented with the most difficult (but simple in my head) question to answer this morning from the HT. A member of staff has complained regarding the amount the network is locked down and insists it 'affects the students learning'... I've now been asked why she can't have an Administrator account to be able to change these things in my absence etc. There are 101 thousand reasons why you don't give Administrator accounts out left right and centre and the same as to why we lock things down with GPO's! Could anyone help me put it into words (less-technical) as to why we as NM's do these things...? TEACHERS!!!

Morning, I'm really keen to set up an SCCM server to host my AntiVirus, Imaging System, Updates etc. however I'm not entirely sure where to start! Going into my volume licensing center presents me with a whole list of SCCM products and then those dropdown to even more versions. Could anyone point me in the direction of what to download or a good guide? (See below for what's showing in my VLSC)

Morning, I was just wondering if anyone knew a quick way to control the blocking of Layer 7 applications such as iMessage/Snapchat etc. I'm testing with an account which has no blocking at all and I don't seem to be able to send iMessages? Thanks!

I currently have a host with 4 drives in it. They're configured in RAID 1. It is aligned as: 1TB, 1TB, 2TB, 2TB This means, within VSphere I have 2 datastores: B1 - 2TB (total) B2 - 1TB (total) I currently have nothing on Datastore-B1. What I want to do Swap all the disks in the host (I need a lot more space) and then configure them in RAID5 (for parity etc.) How do I do it? How do I go about swapping all the disks so I can have say 12TB (4x4TB) and configure them in RAID5 WITHOUT losing what I've got on the current array??? HELP! My brain is fried!

Morning all, I've been greeted this morning with a lovely error from VEEAM telling me that it's not compatible with the free version of ESXi. Does anybody know the minimum version I have to purchase of ESXi (or the most common?) to ensure VEEAM works with it? I've had a look through the options, but they don't detail very well. Links would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Morning, I'm wanting to configure the start menu so that it shows the name of the user logged in, but doesn't allow the user to click on it and open their 'Libraries' folder. The main idea behind this is so it's still obvious who is logged in, but so that people don't get confused where to save. The section I'm talking about is marked below:

Lots of questions, here we go: Netstat isn't showing the MSX server at all (from the client). We DO use a proxy (at the moment). The client and the exchange server are both connected to the same proxy server. ISP is LUNS, proxies are internal IPFire/Smoothwall (soon to be changed) and an external local authority (soon to be changed). Not too sure how to use Wireshark, any insight on this? UPDATE: if I do a manual netstat -ano 1 | find "exchange_ip" I receive an 'established' message.

Zone for the external: Edit: 10.105.16.13 is the internal IP of the Exchange Server.

I've found that it imports two Google Chrome folders in the GPO editor. Try setting it in both, and setting the 'what happens when you start chrome' setting and the 'what happens for a new tab'.
