I'm guessing the documents are being redirected? Sounds like the address there being redirected to isn't avaiable? And if your a school do you not have a volume liscence account?
-
How about just adding a hash rule of allowed just for those 3 exe's?
-
Ouch! Ye Can't imagine them being please with that, We have had to change the way we do promissor and are currently looking into a better way todo it after the update stopped the method we used previously!

Adobe - Flash Player Licensing

I'm gonna agree with the MSI as well, Works fine here for the deployment! Maybe you didn't create the msi folder share with permission for system to have access to it? thats a common one to catch people on on msi deployment

Also if i rememeber right... Set the screen saver to come on in like 1 minute, As once the screen saver comes on it resets the box.... If i remember correctly?

Time to image that machine by the sounds of it

Where i work we use ABtutor as well, Very useful tool!! Sorry just want to make sure i know exactly what your after... So are you on about you only want abtutor to show restart and get rid of shutdown etc, (At first i thought you ment on the start menu for the students you want to remove it)
-
In all honestly sounds like its hardware shot! Guessing its not under warrenty? Normally like a week after
-
Its one of those things that are possible, But plexer would be correct that its against EULA!
-
Where are you looking to remove it from? Are you on about the login screen? Or once they are logged on under the start menu?
-
In all honestly it was nice to put on the machines you knew people where going to get abuse that didn't live on the domain, Shame to see it go... But always alternatives luckily

Basically you can use software that will do it for you, Or you can download Resourse Hacker and edit, msgina.dll (Found in c:\WINDOWS\system32\), Then copy a new msgina.dll called a different name (i just do msgina2.dll), Then put a new registry in [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon] , "Ginadll"="msgina2.dll"

Public Folder Permissions Added To Exchange 2010 SP1 Beta EMC… | How Exchange Works Is that link what your after by any chance?

As chazzy said, You could be looked at multiple different problems with this one! I'd presonally try installing windows again from scratch (normal xp sp3 disc) having it hard wired into the network rather than wireless, This way you know more of what your looking at in terms of where to start lookin for the problem!
-
Are you using one of the replicated areas? Is so are you sure replication is working accross everywhere fine? i know one problem we hit once was that we enabled software restrictions to disallow all apart from a white list and the new server hadn't been added to the students white list
-
You say the workstation service is falling over, Is there anything in the event logs to show this? Never had this problem before tbh with you, And Techie "isnt running the script!" Does your batch script run then? Just can't find the correct Network share? Its not the firewall on the new server is it?
-
On the machines that fail to connect to the share, Can they actually ping the server your trying to connect to? Not something like your hitting your max connections on that server?
-
SYNACK Has the right idea reinstall XP with a SP3 disc, Will have everything nice and clean for you and like new Just remember to take a full copy of the drivers if you dont have the discs to hand! Otherwise the install process could take allot longer than you planned!
-
When you say takes an hour to appear? is that on bootup they get stuck on waiting for network connection? or is that once there logged in and using windows wireless utility? I'm just thinking maybe you have the GPO turned on for wait for network to be available?
-
When you say 'network name could not be found', Is this the batch script causing that error to say the shared drive isn't available or is that windows throwing that error up to say it couldn't find the batch script? I know before i've seen domains getting this error when a dc wasn't correctly removed and the login was trying to run batch script from old dc that is no longer available!
-
How about booting it with a linux live cd? Just to see if that can use the usb's fine? That way your know if your looking at hardware or software

Cheers Ric_, Looks like my NM got it wrong with what type of cards just been doing more reading up on it today thanks for the point in the right direction Aaron

Hey i've just been looking about on here and well can't seem to find what im after, I'm sorry if im just using bad tags to search or something.... But anyway here goes... Basically my NM is all really looking togo for these new Sun thin clients, which have built in swipe card readers which can used for logon, Now my question is how do you go about creating these swipe cards (we already have a magnetic card writer and blank cards due to being donated it by another external company that ended up changing there mind) and once you have created them how would one go about tagging it into the corrosponding active directory account, I'm looking about and just feel like im not getting far. Thanks for any advice. Aaron
