Sounds like scare tactics tbh. Out of interest who is your current supplier? All of our E1 licenses were 'purchased' through the Portal in the admin center, rather than through our resseller.
-
It would give them them access to the Office 365 ProPlus software, not the other extras.

If you have EES, staff (Like Students) are eligible to a free copy of Office 365 Pro Plus. Office 365 ProPlus Benefit for Teachers – FAQs - Microsoft UK Schools blog - Site Home - MSDN Blogs

Yes, I think they said they would give some low cost upgrade licenses but no idea on actual cost.
-
You can trial office 365 without even registering your current domain - you will get an xxx.onmicrosoft.com domain, which you can use for 30 days or so. Now when you want to 'purchase' (for free) your licenses (E1) you will need to add your school domain which would then involve adding the TXT in your DNS. That won't effect mail delivery, and when/if you want to switch, its a case of changing the MX record (plus a a few more records) in your DNS.

Known problem I believe, try searching windows update for the new driver that apparently fixes it.

Smoothwall will do the install as they did ours.

License price (Device CALs, MultiPoint)
ellsandell replied to moodesstas's topic in Thin Client and Virtual Machines
You would be best asking a your License reseller, as they will be able to give you the exact cost. -
Have a search, plenty of threads regarding deployment etc. Exchange - Decommission Exchange Server after Migration - Attributes? | Directory integration services | Microsoft Office 365 Community I think the issue you might have when using Dirsync atleast, is that uninstalling Exchange will remove the extra attributes in AD (related to proxyaddresses etc).
-
That will only show those who have the license assigned, rather than staff\students who have actually downloaded it and used it. Not aware of anyway to see the actual uptake of O365 ProPlus I don't think.

Office 365 GAL Segregation - Custom Attributes
ellsandell replied to CHiLL's topic in Cloud Services
I think from memory, use the Exchange Setup to extend the Active Directory Schema, which will then give you the custom attributes in the local AD for syncing. If you don't want to do that you can manage the custom attributes via powershell. https://msftedublogger.wordpress.com/2008/07/23/using-and-modifying-exchange-custom-attributes-in-exchange-labs/ -
Its a universal app which to the user, runs and would look like any win 32 app. Metro is now defunct as it runs within the desktop (windowed etc). Now it is actually a universal app which is updated through the store and shares its codebase edge on windows phone for example.

ellsandell replied to snagrat's topic in Cloud Services
We have has this problem in IE for the last couple of months, the loading icon will just constantly spin. We just tell them to use Chrome if it happens. -

Experiences with Office 365, Azure and using Cloud
ellsandell replied to MrWu's topic in Cloud Services
We use O365 for staff and students - can't beat it really. Particularly if you want to use Outlook. Constantly updated and with free extras like Student advantage - it makes it even more inviting. Staff and students do like it - don't have any bandwidth problems on a 100Mb line. Currently there is no way of mapping OneDrive for Business (SharePoint Workspace) like you would a home drive (there is a few really hacky ways/scripts however my experiences weren't great with them) and the object limits, it really wouldn't work for most in its current state. Hopefully that might change mind. Using Sharepoint as a VLE is enterierly possible, although we use Moodle and are planning to use the O365 integration (here). O365 Video Services might also be of use for hosting video resources online but not publicly. A few things to note: 1. If you are used to Exchange onsite - you will likely have to look at ADFS to handle your Single Sign on to O365, which requires a minimum of 3 servers (recommended 5?) to handle the ADFS service. I think this is probably a must if you use Sharepoint Online as a VLE. 2. We use Dirsync (Same Sign on) which means users have to logon each time albiet with their network credentials. -
As above, its in the Azure AD settings, previously only available to those with Azure AD premium. Had it running for a month or so, looks much more professional and users seem to like it.

Netflix & Now TV (Entertainment). Netflix cost is shared between a few people and Now TV is used by the parents mostly.
-
Is there a cost saving with using a the hosted version? Other than the obvious not having to run it locally... i.e. license costs.
-
We don't pay, have a few local companies that will pick it up for free. We usually wait until theirs a fair bit mind. Last few weeks we have had alot of companies phoning about paid disposal... With some charging up to £500 per pickup...
-
You could use Office 365 with ADFS, which would allow SSO, It does have added infrastructure requirements mind, so really depends on the size of the school.
-
Yes. Only select subjects mind.

Doesn't suprise me tbh. BT Lancs tried to migrate Moodle to MBC, which failed miserably when they realized they couldn't move any data and didn't do half the things Moodle does. So good move by Lightspeed.

External Moodle Hosting for Schools?
ellsandell replied to PotNoodleTech's topic in Virtual Learning Platforms
You could host it onsite? Would be much cheaper than externally hosting, if your infrastructure can handle it. (as long as your internet is good enough that is...)
