  1. Hmm. Lost some sympathy for this poster when they both had a go at their NM not being up to date and then chipping in with the comment about being on here during the day. It's what the site is for - it helps keep you current. And, not defending this specific NM at all, but you can get de-skilled very quickly in that role if you don't spend a LOT of your OWN time researching and testing things out, and if your SLT don't provide necessary training. Perhaps in addition to being de-skilled they have become disenchanted. There are usually two sides to any story.
  2. As I haven't yet come back to tell myself that I successfully invented the time machine, I guess that one is out.
  3. My wife works in a Peterborough Primary, and I know they have RM - but the support is another matter, as theirs seems to be sporadic, outsourced, and by all accounts, pretty awful.
  4. Absolutely - though if you like redheads...Wilma, Ariel, Jessica, plus there's always Lois from Family Guy.
  5. As Pete says, you need to get in there with the plans and get your people re-thinking...we had a minor new build here, and I had to work hard to make sure our needs were catered for in the planning stage, not after they were all drawn up. An LA IT engineer was trying to plan it on our behalf, and I ended up taking him to task over several issues. Has to be done if you want it right.
  6. I'm toying with the notion on Monday mornings, too, but again that might be just me...
  7. Used Stone here for several years - excellent units, excellent pre-sales, mostly excellent support. And they should come with a standard 5 year warranty.
  8. I've given this some thought...I'm thinking of Ariel after she's gained her legs. I think marry Ariel and keep Jessica on the side...
  9. Quavers vs Wotsits Jessica Rabbit vs Ariel (or is that just me?)
  10. Top of the head thoughts: You'll probably want to run your data cable during first fix when electricians run theirs; you'll also need to identify as many power sockets as you can unless you want to run additional trunking; specifically try to identify power outlets for your edge cabs, as these will be placed higher than any other trunking they intend to run. I would absolutely love to start from scratch - I'd actually enjoy planning that.
  11. I got a similar approach - suggesting it was going up by 29% - something to do with Euro regs???
  12. Anyone have a rough idea how much a taxi is from the train station to the hotel? Cheers.
  13. Yeah, you and everyone else there, I suspect. I know what my best-case and worst-case costs are for the Capita-KCOM solution that we need, so if they can improve on that with a one-stop solution then I won't be complaining.
  14. Yeah - I know what you mean. I have asked for further info before the meeting in Leicester next Tuesday, but I suspect they may wait to clarify there.
  15. Here you go: embc direct
  16. That date was set when first prices were released. They will base final costs on replies, and release those costs by the end of this month. It's only an expression of interest, after all. Mind you, now there's 'embc direct' to consider, too - a bit late in the day but may suit some.
  17. They were quick to respond and, yes, quick to make promises, but then they're business people first and foremost, so that was to be expected. They have an all-in price for services, some of which we didn't require, and so when set alongside one of the emPSN options they were no better financially. There will be slight cost differences sometimes even within the same county, but for us it just didn't stack up.
  18. Thanks again - one last thing, was your Exchange box v 2003 or higher?
  19. Thanks - did you change password only for local admins, not domain admins?
  20. Thanks, yes I knew from a search that these were the Google dns settings. I also saw that link, but thanks.
  21. Actually it's our Exchange box, too - coincidence? I may contact our ISP as well, just in case. Cheers
  22. Has anyone come across an attack whereby the DNS setting on a server NIC has been changed to 8.8.8.8? Google searches suggest a DNS cache 'poisoning' but none of the replies look right. The DNS is a static setting, but twice now it has somehow changed. Anyone else had experience of this? Cheers.
  23. Permission??? They wouldn't care less here.
  24. Yes, I can see that being quite a problem, actually. Taking responsibility is not high on the agenda for some.
  25. As well as the wailing and gnashing of teeth, was there any genuine discontent, or did it all settle down quickly and people just got on with their jobs?
