Chromebooks and Google cast for Education work nicely for this. I think the problem is that TV's don't have the longevity that commercial displays have; and if you look at the cost of a commercial display vs an interactive LED screen there is very little in it.

Why can't it happen in the short term? How long is it going to take? Configure a scope, configure your switches. 40 phones and 70 computers you should have that done inside an hour.

So my take on this is that 99% of files are never access therefore it is a sensible strategic decision to use nearline storage, this is what Google,Amazon and Microsoft suggest for their cloud based systems. Yes you could copy all of your data files directly into redundant RAM and have super fast access but it isn't necessary. You are not tied to a NAS supplier, you are tied to the software be it NFS,SMB,iSCSI. You will always be able to restore from a workstation as long as it can read the filesystem and most NAS devices are unix/linux based and 99% sure you will be able to read that on a workstation (maybe your workstation software is limiting this?) That rather depends upon your IOps and budget same

File storage is near line. Putting user files on your fastest storage system is a waste of resources if you need that for disk access eg for booting your servers.

Sorry for being a div but could somebody explain to me why the need to disable SMB1 please. All I see is posts about how this screws up peoples networks, or do the patches provided by MS not fix the problem ? Surely it's patch OR disable SMB1 ???

Our SLT did it quite easily. They told everyone that our system is Google and told us to uninstall MSOffice. It is only difficult if you make it difficult for yourself.

I need to qualify why I think they are a nasty hack: UTP cable is a twisted pair because the 'spare' wires are NOT redundant in 100Mb/s. They are there because a physicist called Michael Faraday found that interference can be reduced or eliminated by using twisted pairs. Thus the twisted wires shield other connections from interference caused by the data stream and the data stream is shielded from RF external interference. On top of these considerations, have a think about what is going on in an environment where you are mixing gigabit and 100mb/s. The 100mb/s connections are competing for bandwidth against something with ten times the amount. Think about how TCP windowing is going to work here? the 100mb/s clients are going to be at a huge (more than ten times) disadvantage when the network gets busy. I'm not saying spillters don't work, I'm saying they are a nasty hack.

How will the upgrade work with a schools agreement? Do you have to pay $49 for each device to go to pro and then upgrade to enterprise?
