About LeeMartin

  1. This is a permanent, Entry-Level, whole year post based in the I.T. Network Office of this large 11-18 Multi Academy Trust School with 1320 pupils on roll, including 230 students in the Sixth Form. We currently employ in excess of 100 teaching and 70 support staff. The post holder will provide first line hardware and software support to ensure the continuance of a fully operational system of computing and audio-visual devices within the school under the guidance of the IT Systems Manager. This post holder will require a good understanding of computer hardware, software, peripherals and audio visual equipment. A clear logical approach is required in identifying and solving problems and an ability to assist users (staff and pupils), on a school network, working under considerable pressure at times to tight time constraints. See our listing on our website: Vacancies | Alsager School All the prerequisite documents and details are there, don't hesitate to PM me for more details.
  2. Just to chime in with another perspective, we've just finished replacing our remaining bulbed projectors with Casio LED projectors, after trade-in they were approximately £300 each. We looked at touch/non-touch TV panels, but with 60+ classrooms, there wasn't much chance. Durability wise, we've had LED projectors in some areas for nearly 6 years now and bar a few early failures under warranty from a bad batch, they're still just as bright and reliable now after tens of thousands of hours of use. The only maintenance we have to do on them now is blow out the accumulated dust once a year with a battery-powered leaf-blower! Previously we were doing maybe 150 hours of projector maintenance a year. As far as interactivity, we've previously had a wide deployment of interactive boards, but as 2ilent8cho rightly points out, not many actually had regular use. Now we're going ahead with a deployment of Pro hybrid tablets as staff devices and have installed the projectors with Miracast adapters, with which we're so far impressed (we have video cable backups just in case). I'd say the only downside with the projectors is that they're only XGA rather than HD, but since we're using Miracast, it helps cut down on the amount of required bandwidth so it's kind of a benefit to us at least. For the price of one 80" touchscreen setup I can have 4 projectors, with the same size projected image, and the tablets to go with them.. seems like a no-brainer to me!
  3. It's definitely an jobseeker's market no doubt about it! We've just had an opening close without any applications at all.. I didn't think the pay or description were too unreasonable.. not to hijack but would anyone mind giving some feedback? Here's the vacancy page: Vacancies | Alsager School Where else would you other Network Manager's recommend advertising? Our HR posted in local papers, as well as the local council job site and some others, but I'm not sure they're too up to date with online jobs boards. Edit: I posted here too obviously!

  5. Hi EduTech, as outlined in the original post "Chrome on Android, Safari on Mac, IE/Chrome on Windows 7/8/10" - the bug happens on the very first sign-out, every single time on every device I have at my disposal.. resetting browser data does clear it, but it's not a totally workable solution. But I will PM you.
  6. Mmmmm well I guess at least I'm not the only one. @cooper, I'd rather not take that route unless I have to, but I've been considering it as plan B. @JRowley, the issue occurs even on android unfortunately, whatever the bug is, it's based in the interaction between the user's account and the way the login page is coded I guess..
  7. Hi witch, Thanks for the quick reply... no I don't think so, I need to grab the user to check. I've tried on her behalf but I think she's changed the password again since testing friday (can't begrudge good security!). I've notice an odd one though. She's got an apostrophe in her email address, when I try and login as her, it bounces it giving 'This doesn't look like a valid user ID', and changes the apostrophe to ' She's not the only user we have with that (their email address is initial.surname), so I don't think it's important.
  8. Hi All, Just wondering if anyone else had encountered the same bug as one of our users have. When she gets the login.microsoftonline.com sign in page, and her credentials have been remembered on the device she uses, the button for her login name is unclickable, as are the three dots... also the 'use another account' button is also gone. Finally, if the device has saved any other credentials before, if she logs in, it magically forgets all of them too. In case that was too incoherent, here's a screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/kYkIFAv.jpg This happens on every browser, on every device, on every Internet connection I have at disposal to test.. Chrome on Android, Safari on Mac, IE/Chrome on Windows 7/8/10, on our school Internet, my home connection, 4G phone network... I've never seen anything like it. I'm just praying no-one else onsite has the same issue, or our big move to 365 is going to be dead in the water .. Any advice is most appreciated!
