azman? Lost me there..

I've already tried both with saved and non-saved creds - it makes no difference

The user login to our curricum network as normal, and then use those same credentials to login to the VMM portal. Once logged in there, they have been granted ownership of a single VM (one per user, so each user gets a different VM) on a seperate sandboxed network. The idea is they start and then connect to the virtual machine and then login to that with credentials from that network. This works with about 50% of users, however the other 50% get the error message when conencting the the VM.

It's a worry if no-one is able to help with this.

We are currently running SCVMM 2008 sucesfully. I've recently created a batch of 32 users on our curriculum domain, each identical (created via a software utility). If I log in to the PC with some of the users, and then access SCVMM web portal, they will connect to VM's with no issues at all, however other users come up with a message saying Virtual Machine Manager lost the connection to the virtual machine because another connection was established to this machine This is related to the user account used to logon to the the PC rather than which P it is, or which user logs in the SCVMM console I've tried a compare and contrast between a user that works and a user that doesn't, cleared the appdata an checked for hidden files in the documents folder. All these users use the same mandatory profile. I'm absolutely at a loss on this so hoping you can help Cheers

SQL Server referencing user accounts that no longer exist
neonetman replied to neonetman's topic in Enterprise Software
Yeah - I looked at that, and the query SELECT name, sid, principal_id FROM sys.database_principals WHERE type = 'S' AND name NOT IN ('guest', 'INFORMATION_SCHEMA', 'sys') AND authentication_type_desc = 'INSTANCE'; gave an error sayign Msg 207, Level 16, State 1, Line 5 Invalid column name 'authentication_type_desc'. I'm at my wits end with this now. I've even (apparently) got a local account on one server which means transferring that database causes an error on the new server. I'm not sure quite how this has been set up by my precessors, but it's a bit of a nightmare -
When trying to copy a database from one Sql Server to another, I'm getting a 12550 error in the event log which reads:- * InnerException-->Windows NT user or group '{removed for security}' not found. Check the name again. The username relates to a user who has long since been deleted. I've looked in SSMS under both Security/Logins as well as under {database name}/security/users and can't see any refernece to this user. I've tried re-adding this user in AD, which seems to resolve it but it then fails on a different deleted user (I know there may be a few "ghost" accounts for former technicians involved in this issue. Obviously I need to find and remove the references to these former technicians accounts, but I have no idea where to look now. Can anyone offer any insights as it's battering my tiny mind

The services are running as a dedicated domain admin account

Has anyone got any thoughts on this?

Because I'm doing an OS upgrade at the same time, I'd be happier to migrate databases properly to a temporary server prior to rebuilding the original box. It's just these ghost user accounts causing a niggle now

OK - so I've got a bit further now, but have hit another issue. The username relates to a user who has long since been deleted. I've looked in SSMS under both Security/Logins as well as under {database name}/security/users and can't see any refernece to this use. Obviously I need to find and remove the references to these former technicians accounts, but I have no idea where to look now

I've just installed a new Server 2016/Sql Server 2014 box to move our DBs onto:- * Firewall turned off * remote connectivity turned on I'm trying to copy a database from our old (Server 2008/SQL 2008) box to our new one and am hitting problems:- * Using SSMS on the old server, it cannot connect to the new server * Using SSMS on the new server, I can connect to the old server and initiate the copy, however it fails on the execute step, stating it cannot connect to the old server As SQL server is not one of my strengths I'm struggling a bit. Can anyone help with this please The project as it stands involves moving all the DBs to a temp server whilst we install the new OS and SQL on the original box, then move all the DBs back again.

Good morning all, I'm starting to look at a migration from SCCM2007 on Windows Server 2008, moving to SCCM 2012 on Server 2016 Has anyone already done this, and if so how easy was the process - are there any pitfalls I need to consider?

When trying to invite students to a Google Classroom, the search mechanism is just spinnign and not finding the students. I'm presuming this is a change at Googles end meaning I need to change something on my firewall, but I'm struggling to find what it is (I'm running a Sophos UTM for the firewall). Has anyone else had this issue?

Thanks to both of you - that worked a treat. I'm now working through the admin console updating the existing accounts, however new accounts are being pulled in correctly now.

By DNS suffic are you referring to the UPN suffix?

Good morning all, We currently have AD connect working to sync out students with the O365 tenant as follow:- * {user}@internaldomain.local is created as {user}@externaldomain.onmicrosoft.com I've now added our correct external domains to the tenant and would like to sync both staff and students (both in same AD tree) as follows:- Staff users - {user}@internaldomain.local is created as {user}@staffemaildomain.co.uk Students - {user}@internaldomain.local is created as {user}@studentemaildomain.org.uk I can see how to change the default domain in the O365 tenant, however I can't see any way to set this using the AD connect utility based on the source OU Can anyone help advise on this headache, or do I need to resort to manually changing the login domains after sync, and taking paracetamol? Cheers

We have an Evolis Primacy card printer whcih we use with Cardpresso. Photos can be linked to names in the list, meaning batch import/print is easy. We also use this for printing staff ID badges

We've recently had some corruption on our Hyper-V host meaning I'm having to restore backups of someof our virtual machines. One of these restores is causing me a headache:- * Looking at the config, it looks like there were 2 ide HDDs configured on the VM (which is borne out by the VHD files on thE backup server) * The first VHD is only 4Gb, with the second being 500Gb * When I restore them and boot I get a message about a device being inaccessible * I I boot fromt he DVDand choose to repar, it only sees a Windows install on the 4Gb partition * If I mount the larger VHD onto another VM to look at, it tells me it has no partitions * This server is the file share for our redirected appdata folders, so I need to get this online asap * Just to add more pressure to this, I fly on holiday on Wednesday morning so I only have today and tomorrow to get this sorted Can anyone offer any suggestions on what I'm missing in the config here?
