Further to my first post, the exit code I'm getting is -536805289

I've come in and taken over an existing system, and am currently firefighting and finding my way around it. Providing I get SLT approval, I'll be looking at changing the AV solution as soon as this license expires, however in the meanwhile I need to get this pushed out and working as soon as possible whilst I negotiate.

I've just moved to a new school and one of my first issues is the update of the antivirus. The school uses AVG business edition, and in the past have rolled this out using SCCM. I've tried replicating the setup of the last AVG iteration however I can't seem to get the installer to run properly. Has anyone else got a similar setup, and if so how do you manage to package AVG for install> For the record I am calling the setup.exe using the /ConfigFilePath switch to do a silent install and put in the remote server details - this works fine when run from the command line on my machine, however I simply get an exit code when I run it via the SCCM advertisemnt

We are running Kaseya as a support system, and are using it to push out file into the windows directory. THis is done by sending out a zip file, extracting it and then calling a batch file to move files into their correct locations. This seems to run through correctly, but the files don't appear in the correct directory. If I run a command prompt as System, I can see the files through that (but not through a normal/administrator command prompt) If I run the extracted batch file manually, it works correctly. Can anyone explain why these files are visible only to System, and how to overcome this. Cheers

I'm trying to find a (free) piece of software that will allow me to create a custom screensaver consisting of a single image (for corporate branding). The aim is then to copy the resulting SCR file to the machines and set it as default using GPO. Can anyone recommend a suitable piece of software? Cheers

We've just started deploying BeCrypt to any machines that won't run TrueCrypt. It's not free, but it is reasonably priced, has a central management option, and is straightforward and reliable to use

We've a couple of Lenovo machines which seem to have stopped communicating with any external IP addresses (can't even ping them, although accessing our local netowrk is fine). * We've removed and re-added the network device * We've reset the TCP/IP stack * We've reset the winsock catalog * We've turned off the windows firewall * The machines are DHCP, the same as every other machine in the building * The route tables all look correct * I've run virus and malware scans One of the machines had only been out of the box for a few minutes and was still being setup (following imaging it) The other machine is in an office and is used. I'm at a loss what is causing this - can anyone help?

I'm trying to setup Sophos Enterprise Console on a server behind a firewall in our datacentre. I'd like to install Sophos on each machine at each of our sites and configure it to talk to the central console. Currently I've tried to set up an HTTP update location on the server, however the endpoints are not connecting to the server (I can browse directly to it using a web browser) There doens't seem to be a lot of easy information on this online, and the Sophos site isn't very helpful. Can anyone offer any assistance with this?

Good afternoon folks, I've trying to setup a fog 1.0.1 server on our network, but seem to be having a few problems with the PXE boot (specifically around DHCP options). If I boot using the DHCP server build into the FOG box, everything works correctly, however if I try to use our company DHCP server, coupled with the DNSMASQ proxy, I can't seem to get anywhere - it comes up with cannot start download: operation not supported I've attached my DHCPd config file which works, and my LTSP.conf file for DNSMASQ which doesn't work. Do you have any recommendations for 3rd party tools?

We've just rolled out Exchange server 2010 here, and are trying top get Exchange to add an automatic signature to all emails. We've added a transport rule to append the signature, including dynamic entries for name, job title etc so all is good on that front. The problem we have is if we reply to an email, the appended signature goes right at the bottom below all the text, rather than at the end of the new text and before the text of the email we're replying to. Can anyone suggest any method of automatically applying a corporate signature that puts it in the correct place.

OCS Inventory - we found it excellent

at about 10 minutes to 2 this afternoon our Exchange 2010 server stopped sending emails (they startin queuing with a supposed DNS resolution failure). About the same time, our event log started getting flooded with errors about Active Directory not responding and the GC not listening. Even after a reboot taking 3/4 hour we are still just getting a sea of red in the event logs. Nothing had changed on the server, and the Exchange server is on server which is also the FSMO and DC (it is a separate domain purely for Exchange) Has anyone come across anything similar to this, and if so what was the cause/resolution?

I think this relates to a problem with autodiscover not working at all (trying to find the config from the wrong URL). My issue is slighly different, in that the autodiscover process works correctly, however the server name it is returning is the internal "exchange.domain.local" address

Thankyou network41 - thats got me most of the way there now. Only bit I'm still struggling with is that the autodiscover is returning the internal datacenter URL for the exchange server, rather than the external public facing URL.

Good morning, Our exchange server is hosted in a datacentre behind a firewall (Sophos UTM). I'm struggling to get Outlook to connect to it correctly without turning the firewall off completely Can anyone offer any ideas of what ports/ranges I need to open to allow it through. I currently have 80, 443, 135, 137, 143, 389, 3268 and 88 opened for it, along with statically assigned ports for the RPC and AB services, yet I'm still unable to connect to it.

We moved about a year back. The problem has only been apparent since then, but that was alongside a lot of other changes such as the move to Windows 7, so wasn't able to pint it down to that. Do you know what it is about Office 2010 that causes the issue?

We are running Office 2010, however it's not an upgrade - it was installed clean.

Good morning folks, We have a bit of a strange issue starting to appear intermittently on our network:- When a user tries to save / resave a document, or delete or rename a folder they are intermittently getting some weird issues:- On the majority of cases it saves/works correctly Users are sometime getting an error saying their is a network permissions error and the file saves with zero bytes Users are sometimes getting a message when deleting or renaming a folder saying the file/folder is in use - please try again Saving under a different name will usually work (although very occasionally not). Now the tech bit:- Workstations are running Windows 7 enterprise, 32bit Server is Windows Server 2012 Shares are in the format of \\server\username$ (hidden share) Share has been mapped to a drive letter and the user is trying to save to the drive letter Share permissions are set to everyone, full control Security is set to Domain Admins - full permission, User has modify rights. Network is running on Procurve 1Gb switches with spanning tree enabled Hopefully that gives all the info you need, and someone may have an idea of a resolution to this.

We've recently started experiencing a lag when writing on the smartboards. You can write a sentence before the ink starts to appear. The hardware is a core2-duo PC with a SB680 board. Has anyone else experiened this issue, and if so have you found a resolution to it?

We've used Kroll ontrack data recovery in the past. Don't run the drive any further, and book it in with them for recovery!
