I always thought that without highlighting and printing "Selection" that IE will by default print each frame onto a separate page. Try diagnose the problem further, do you have Firefox, or Safari anywhere at hand. On a linux machine, specifically Squid Proxy. Two is ideal, one for inbound/outbound traffic from lan, and the other for inbound/outbound traffic from the Internet. So the internet is theoretically never connected to the lan. The middle man and IPtables tell it what to-do with certain traffic. Good for a easy "load balance"

And if the laptop was provided with an OEM activation license, its out of the question, as you can only activate to one MAC/Serial/Hardware ID.

Network not working, or no power. Only to walk around half the school and find out, that the RJ45 cable is unplugged, or the power button wasn't pressed. I don't have time for people that cant even troubleshoot themselves, even after being shown how.

Resolved. Inheritance of policies and not checking the "site wide" default policy. Had the tick box checked to disable download of files. However only recently occurred when we tried to resolve another issue. Three states of change, either gray (assuming inherited from default) ticked to break inheritance and do what its told or white uncheck to disable and break from inheritance. Not easy when you've spent 4 days trying to figure out if its profile based, ranger based, machines hating you, or little green men. Thanks for the advice, but if it were not for the ability to monitor student activity via webtracker/ranger screen viewer, start menus and desktop information, we would like move away ourselves, after the distraught that Sophos/Ranger gave us.

I accidentally loaded under HKCR, instead as a hive under HKLM. And alas your idea does work, and the issue with the older proxy settings resolved.

All, Seem to be having a spot of bother with Ranger 5.9. A week ago, everything went haywire when .man files went missing on their own accord and now with the student mandatory profile reset, Ranger decides it wants to have a go. Problem as follows. GPO settings for IE6/7 null Ranger settings for IE6/7 null (Clean Ranger testing group) Man Profile for IE6/7 null (Clean and clear, even reset defaults, runonce as well as allow downloading of files). When a user browses say AQA to download previous papers etc in PDF for other format, IE blurts out "Your security settings do not allow this file to be downloaded" However even than reseting internet explorer settings doesn't allow the file to be downloaded. However........ It all works with the removal of Ranger (however no policies are applied) Anyone got any suggestions as too the underlying cause? Thanks!

Althought it does work, the only way is to overwrite the current settings, than re-export it as a hive file. I may have just accidentally imported the hive onto my admin machine, perhaps a logon/logoff will make things better. However even importing the file, I cant find reference to the isdncache registry setting, however windows grep still shows the syntax within the file.

Good Morning (on this joyous monday morning), Reference older requests, we have approximately 1/10 users having this problem. That problem being older isdncache.rmplc.co.uk which was used over 3 years ago as primary proxy, however everything is now in house with ISA etc. Ranger is set to stick the ISA settings as WCSISA:8080 but using Windows Grep, I found that ntuser.man references the isdncache settings. Easy fix to just change ISA settings, but not when its every morning. This problem only affects some users, not all. I do believe that ntuser.man holds registry settings (renamed from .dat) Is there a way to remove the isdncache registry setting? Many Thanks.

To be honest, the whole system looks fantastic. The overview of tutorials and demonstration videos on the website are superb. Suppose I have a question to ask. The AP's state they support 802.1e (VLAN) switching. Is this applied at "Director" or "AP" level? Over summer holidays, my primary task or focus will be installation, configuration of Mcafee NAC. Enforcement via VLAN switching (switch side) to a remediation portal. Problem comes with the route. IT > BACKBONE > ROUTE > BOARDING HOUSE > AP. User has a non-compliant machine accessing network through the AP. The only logical route for NAC would to switch the AP to the remediation VLAN. Problem as it turns the whole house off. (That is until Mcafee + Windows Server 2008 NAP comes into affect, and the enforcement can be user-sided.

When creating new users, ignore scripts. Just create them on AD installed on your mail server (which will replicate onto your DC) When creating, 3/4th box in it asks you if you want to create a mailbox for the user. Easier if you copy an existing student (as groups, logon script, etc etc are all there, only thing you need to type are username, first/last name, and check for mailbox)

Thanks for the feedback RIC_. I suppose the only problem without cost implications (other than a new suite) is locking the machines down. I don't suppose the locking down can be done another way? Or only on an OSX Server?

Hi All, We're currently in discussion regarding our Music Technology faculty regards overall performance and workings of their department from IT. (We are a Independent Music Specializing School) At present we have 2 rooms. 11 Machines in each room. However machines are different in both rooms, so are the keyboards. One room has EMU404 sound cards and standard roland keyboards, where the other don't have 404 sound cards, but imbedded into the keyboards. Problems with student profiles, ranger profiles, hardware profiles, software profiles between the two rooms are causing an absolute nightmare. (Sibelius, Cubase, Acid Xpress) Cubase works but only just with scripting help. Sibelius has major latency issues and the need to always be setup pre using it. Acid Xpress doesn't like outputting sound in either room and the list continues. Now our only solution being unifying equipment between the rooms. Same keyboards, same sound cards if needed, same hardware and software profiles. Either PC based, or MAC based (I've spoken to a few people, other MTECH Directors across a few schools, and the majority use MACS standalone, as the software isn't really designed for this type of environment). Would like to find out pro/cons between the two, if anyone has a moment to contribute to my thoughts. (Music Tech will be run on its own private network. One server, Roaming profiles for users, 22 machines. Plagiarism and folder permissions and the rest are their responsibility) Thanks for any feedback.

Our helpdesk, Ilient Sysaid does all this wonderful stuff. It deploys across the network. Inventories all machines, gives a lovely overview. Tracks software and hardware changes. Installs VNC and other stuff as well. Free to try for a month from Help Desk Software by Ilient, and you can export the data to csv and PDF. We loved it so much its now our Software, Hardware, Helpdesk, Licensing, VNCing system. I'll attach a rough screenshot of what it looks like if you would like. EDIT: It can be installed via logon script, and removed the same. Create a dummy account with no password, add the logon script, and login all the machines, wait 10-15mins, turn them off and away you go.

Uninstall - Reinstall. If it still occurs after fetching the updates than updates are the cause. Generally I find when AV updates with new dat files or whatever else they tend to kick off an un-intended system scan, and dependent on what you are doing can take days to complete. If its updates, contact them and explain the steps you've taken to prove its the update, and hopefully others will too.

Perhaps there was a configuration change that need to be applied at service stop/start. Generally if things don't work I just restart the services and any changes waiting to apply get taken aboard. Facility SQL connections for example, when they're down or playing up just restart services and they're back up.
