Teams phone system is probably worth checking out if you're using 365 for other things.

The whole "tacking the other end of the cable next" thing did sound a bit unnecessary considering how ubiquitous USB Type A is for the "other end".

But it's not just a phone charger, it's also a data transfer cable. And eventually everyone will move to USB 4 except in the EU where they're still waiting to vote on the updated standard.

Would you be able to expand on this?

What about managing guest access? On our current system we/reception create user credentials for the guest portal. How easy is that sort of day-to-day thing on unifi/aruba?

Hi guys, We're looking at replacement wifi and have narrowed it down to either Unifi or Aruba (using Aruba central). Now I'm looking for some comp installations, so is there anyone who's using either Aruba or Unifi for a large installation and would be willing share their experiences? We're a 1500 student secondary with 4 buildings. Installation plans suggest 104 APs and we're looking at having both nps/radius and guest web-portal authentication. Thanks.

The school IT team might be able to help with this. They could at least check if the server is critical on space. Depending on how comfortable they are with SQL, they might be able to make the backup/logging changes themselves. But TBH as a network manager, I wouldn't risk trying ourselves over calling our SIMS support people (But in our case they're pretty responsive).

We had this a couple of updates back. As I recall, it was something to do with the SIMS backups/logfiles getting too big. I know the SIMS engineer compressed our backups and turned off verbose logging as part of the fix.

You can get physical adapter cables/modules, but I thought RJ11 only went up to 6 cores while RJ45 is 8. If so there's a good chance it won't work for regular network traffic.

I see what you're getting at. But the Real3D that (according to Wikipedia) is most prevalent in cinemas, works by alternating frames. So for each 2D frame you get one frame from angle 1 and then one from angle 2, or in this case 1 frame without the subs and then one with subs. So people with glasses would work like you suggest (people with 2 RH lenses get the subs, and people LH lensed glassed don't). But the people without glasses are still only seeing the subs on every other frame (but with the film running a double FPS). It might be that this would work fine, but I can imagine the "flickering" (even if it's too fast for most people to notice) causing issues for some people.

If you can do this with some degree of success then I really don't see why not. Although I think everyone would have to wear the glasses for it to work. Theoretically you'd see the subtitles without the glasses but it would only be on every other frame which is probably super uncomfortable.

So what you're saying that by mid January we'll have reached 100%. That's pretty good going if you ask me.

But you have to wonder how many parents are going to let their kids have a vaccine given what the JVC has said. That's correct, thanks. While this one is the for the follow me, it works just as well installing individual printers based on computer/location. As in if a PC is in an office with a private desk printer, then the desk printer is mapped (as well as the follow-me) and set as default. (We've set up different OUs for each room that has access to a local printer).

We get pretty reliable deployment through the below GPO settings.

I always loved the idea of playing Advent Rising. It looks very much my jam, but I can't quite bring myself to actually install and try it. I'm too scared it will feel rubbish compared to modern games.

We have a wall of racking in one of the server rooms with network cables sorted by length an color (and a bin for fiber patch leads ), and a set of crates for power, USB, audio and video cables. For hardware we have a set of tamber units with drawers/shelves for mice, ram, SSDs, keybaords, etc.

What gives you that impression? According to linkedin they've been around since 2014 and have 143 employees (https://www.linkedin.com/company/heimdal-security/) and I'm pretty sure it's the same Heimdal.
