If it's getting stuck at Starting Services, I would hazard a guess that one of them is perhaps failing to start and Sysprep is stripping out something that's needed. I'd take a look at the log files on the HDD after it gets stuck (either plug the hdd in somewhere else or boot into WinPE using something and ead using notepad) in Windows\panther and windows\system32\sysprep\panther and see if anything jumps out. Hi Just wondered if something has changed recently? I logged in today at work and logged in successfully, but then visited various pages flicking between being logged in and logged out. I narrowed it down to being Cumbria's round robin proxy as if I work out which proxy the login request went through and specify it then I stay logged in, switching to one of the others I get logged out. I don't remember it being this way before the summer, but I could be wrong.

Well, it seems the UPS fairies have paid a visit during the night..... After a week of constantly claiming that there is insufficient run time, I came in this morning to phone APC and the runtime double to 8 minutes. Not just that, it decided to do it 3 minutes before I got into work! Running another calibration now and it's running much more like it should, so I'll give it another week and see where we go. It's things like this that make you wonder what chance you have of keeping things working....

Hi All could someone provide some advice to me about this please? We have a Smart UPS 2200VA which is getting on a bit now and recently the battery came back as failing the Self Test. So, I ordered a replacement battery and fitted it, however now the UPS is only reporting a runtime of 4 minutes with a load of 20% - I'm sure it should be more the 4 minutes though.... anybody any advice as to whether I'm missing something else obvious that I need to do? I've run a self test and a calibration on it but it didn't make any difference. The Event log reports every 10 minutes that the Battery is Discharged and then 8 seconds later reports that it's within range. Stuck as to what else to do now.

I had this on my account just last week when I was experimenting. At first I thought leave it and it will sort it's self out, but it never did. What did seem to kick it in to action was to go to the Sharepoint Admin section, go to User Profiles, Manage User Profiles, find my user profile, edit it and then save it. After that it seemed to reset itself and work straight off. On our letter there was a code to enter at the checkout. One year there was a problem with the code and an email to either Microsoft or Kivuto (can't remember which now) gave me a new code ot activate Dreamspark. A while since I activated it now though.

I have for a couple of packages, it's been a bit hit/miss depending on what it is and what the exe actually does. Exe's that run the Visual C++ Redistributable for example don't work.

Yeah, I've just had to update mine to that too. The Sophos Licence we had through our LA was for base Sophos only, Sophos have just retired this licence and we've had to shift across to the one which includes the firewall too.

If your on 3.9 that shouldn't be an issue. When the client comes online the agent should check in with the console, detect the update has been deployed and install it. It's become a lot quicker in recent times - have you got Solus 3 configured to Automatically download the updates to clients? That might help matters if it has a few days to download updates before you deploy them. Reimage shouldn't be so much of an issue any more, if your on 3.9 when you reimage a machine providing it has the same name you can issue the Reinstall Agent from the console which will then install the agent and SIMS again. Discover you will still need to redeploy. Rename is still an issue, I think my change request is still floating around on Supportnet/My Account from a few years back if you want to vote for it.

Looking through the microsoft OVS-ES licencing guide though, it only mentions that Education Desktop with Core CAL grants access to Windows Education edition, not enterprise - therefore are we sure that we are licenced to use Enterprise? I've not really considered it to be honest as it'll still be a while before we can deploy.

I 3rd the above! For us it's working great, yes we've had some (major) issues with it at times, but for deploying the last 12 months worth of SIMS/Discover upgrades it's been good and has got better. The UI unfortunately leaves more to be desired then the original release.

I can't remember who I stole it from now.

So solus3 is all set up? In which case, go to your Update Library, find the Summer Upgrade (you might get away with Summer Report Patch) and click on Deploy now in the bottom right hand corner. Bit late I know so hopefully you got sorted.

My base build is rather bare - just Windows 7 + updates. Sophos and Office installed by a script on the computer at build and everything else pushed out through gpo.

You configure the dedupe age in the deduplication config - the default date is 5 days. I slipped up on this recently, using robocopy and copying the date attribute will allow you to dedupe straight away.

I was told that Smoothwall needs a public IP address for it to be able to work as a reverse proxy. If the traffic goes through a NAT first then the reverse proxy won't work. That may be specifically down to the way our RBC does it, I don't know. We have a public IP which goes through their Web Gateway and then forwarded on to our server. I spent a bit of time trying to make it work before support told me it wouldn't, just means I ended up with 3 public IP's pointing to different internal servers instead of the single one which I wanted.

Been looking at something similar despite my loathing for ipads at the moment. I think you can use the Device Enrollement Program and Meraki MDM which will effectively supervise them without the mac I think. We've done the Meraki MDM bit but see that you can still remove the profile if your in the know so the DEP is the next bit to look at in September. I might be wrong, but someone else might be able to point in the right direction.

Aha, I see. I forgot about the limit on NITE. What you could try then is having 2, possibly 3 NITE columns but I've not fully thought it through so it might not work or even be possible. Your first NITE column would do your first 4 < values and then have an Else condition of something like NA and not set a colour. I'd then see if you can do with your second NITE, start by looking to see if your first NITE != NA and leave the then blank, then continue with your NITE for the remainder of your values. You'd then have a 3rd NITE column which the first 2 ITE's would check for NA's before finishing off the remainder of your colouring in. It might end up in a huge mess and it might not work, but it's the only way I can see of trying to achieve it in SIMS at the moment. Edit: I would hide the 3 NITE columns as it will be confusing to anyone looking at it even if it does work and have them colouring the marks column with the approrpiate value or colouring another column in which you set the value to the grade.

How is the data being input into the Marksheet - as marks or as grades? Assuming it's going in as marks, do you already have a grade set which would utilise these values or would you need to create a new one? What you could try is building up the NITE by using the less then property starting with your lowest first, so <16 = red, <22 = bright orange, <28 = orange etc and I think it should then stop at the first match for you providing it is in order. You'd need to test it to see if that is the case though, I can't quite remember and it's a while since I worked in assessment properly (but need to start getting my head back in to gear for it for the new term). If it doesn't work then providing you have a gradeset or you create one which ties those values to the grades, then a hidden marks to grade formula based off the mark entered by the teacher and then you can do your NITE based off the hidden formula on the grade.

Personally, I've taken over 5 weeks or so ago, have knowledge of the core SIMS system, its configuration and setup but haven't used in touch until I started here. I only have a rough idea of where intouch started and where its gone from release notes and documentation but none of it seems to explain the process in touch uses for connecting and sending messages which is where I'm stumped. Using SSM does that make the VPN redundant? I'll call the service desk, but with other things I'm addressing I keep only coming back to it fleetingly because I want to understand how it works.
