  1. Can I just thank all the guys who replied to this thread. Having a bad time at the moment here as there are loads of little niggles with our new system that are keeping us very busy. It's great to know that people out there are willing to help us without expecting anything in return!
  2. I'll stick to robocopy thanks. Did the job with a /S switch.
  3. Although I may have to take back some of the praise as that currently takes anything that is in the folder and removes it! I assume the /MIR switch at the end is to blame!
  4. As always FN, I bow down to your amazingness! That worked!
  5. I'm using Windows 7 with server 2008 R2. Thanks for all the replies so far!
  6. Hi, We are running through are numerous tidy up jobs after changing our whole domain and workstation setup. I am having a real struggle trying to do the simplest of task, I think because there are so many of them! I am trying to create a boot script that will copy files from \\Dc1\netlogon\_INF\SMTRAN\_ALL to c:\windows\start this is to add any extra shortcuts to our users menu as an when they crop up. However when my script runs - COPY "\\DC1\NETLOGON\_INF\SMTRAN\_All" "C:\WINDOWS\START\" I get an error the system cannot find the file specified. Can someone tell me what I am doing wrong? Thanks
  7. Just to reduce the load on the main fog server really!
  8. Yes indeed they are! Hmm apart from about 3 staff members! Are you saying that the same accounts will work when i cahnge across to the new ldap server so a user called jjones will still be able to log on but authenticating against the new ldap?
  9. Hi all, We created a new domain over the summer and moved everything except moodle to it. We left moodle as the students were using it during the holidays. Now I need to work out the least painful way of moving it to the new domain. It looks straight forward in the ldap settings but I'm panicking that if I change it and then have to change it back all my users data so far will be lost. Has anyone done this who could give me some advice? Thanks
  10. I have tried running the install script again in the hope that I could change the setting there but there is a config file somewhere with all the settings already made for me that I can't alter. Does anyone know where this config file resides? Thanks
  11. Hi, I installed HAP on a new server quite a while back, ready to look at rolling it out after we upgraded out domain servers to 2008 R2. I have now gone back to my HAP install and can't remember what the admin password is! I'm not sure if there was a default or if I can change this somewhere? Can someone help this idiot? Thanks
  12. Thanks for the suggestions. I eneded up making sure my scripts ran asynchronously via GPO and all is well.
  13. We have just set up a Server 2008 R2 domain and sent out Windows 7 to all our clients. All works fine except on a group of lenovo laptops that refuse to run the logon script while on the wireless. Can anyone suggest what might be causing this? Thanks
  14. I'm not sure about anything! Might end up running it as a Virtual server to get it up and running and then see how we go from there!
  15. My main concern is SCCM. This was a right pain to install. I'm not sure how easy that would be to transfer?
  16. Meh, we don't have Backup Exec so that is off the table! We also don't want to run it as a Virtual server. We set it all up on a workstation in anticipation of the purchase of a new server. That server has now arrived but we can't restore a full metal recovery to it using standard MS tools!
  17. Can anyone suggest how I can recover a server 2008 R2 server backup to a different piece of hardware? I am banging my head against anything hard I can find as I can't see how this is possible? Thanks
  18. Also there is an open thread about this issue on their own support forum https://groups.google.com/forum/embed/?fragments=true#!topic/app-inventor-instructors/jKHkkyfZEeQ
  19. This is no help but just to let you know it is happening for us too. Admins go through same filter as staff and it is running for admins but not staff!
  20. I'm waiting in anticipation for the virtualisation bits to start!
  21. That really is an interesting idea!
  22. Our DT department fancy a projector in their workroom. The downside to this is that it is a dusty room with woodcutting etc going on in it. Can anyone suggest a projector that could cope with a room like this? Dt also want an interactive board so if this was an all in one board and projector all the better! Thanks
  23. I have been tasked with finding furniture for our Music suite which is being revamped over the summer. We need to desk it out to fit 20 imacs with 20 midi keyboards. The closest thing I have found to what we want is here Verso Tower Music computer workstation | IT furniture from iTech Desking but we don't need the sliding monitor thing at the back but we do want to slide the midi keyboard out of the way. Has anyone seen anything decent like this? Thanks
  24. oops! I'll try that then!
  25. We completely formatted one of our servers for other purposes recently but my nagios box still tries to monitor it and obviously goes mad as it can't find it. I have removed all reference to it in /usr/local/nagios/etc/objects/windows.cfg and restarted apache but it still keeps looking for it. Do I need to remove it somewhere else as well? Thanks
