  1. Hi All, I have a Toshiba Laptop running Windows 8.1 Pro and MS Office 2013 Pro Plus. When I try to open a PowerPoint file downloaded from the internet I cannot open it even after saving the file to the laptop. It comes up with the following message; "sorry, PowerPoint can't read C:\Users\administrator\AppData\Local\Microsoft\INetCache\IE\0N5TU8NB\Mini Beasts.ppt." When I click on Show Help it talks about Anti Virus and that might be blocking it and if you trust it you should disable the anti virus. I have the same laptop and on mines it works fine. I am trying to download files from TES website. When I save the file to the laptop, right click the file and in properties it has an option to unblock the file, when I unblock the file it works fine. This issue is also affecting 4 other users who have the same laptop and MS Office. When I downgrade the MS Office to 2007 it works fine. Any advice or tips will be much appreciated. Thanks
  2. Hi Guys, Got it working, it was a sound setting on the TV. I left the cable setup as it is. Many thanks for you help. Much appreciated........
  3. TV model is LG Smart 3D 47LB70. I have checked the side of the TV and it has 3 HDMI (HDMI in 1 (ARC), HDMI in 2, HDMI in 3 (HML)), 3 USB Ports and PCMCIA Card Slot. The Sony Cinema sound system has 1 HDMI out ARC, 1 Digital Optical In and Audio In R and L. I have my Sky connected to the TV in HDMI 1 port and the Sony system in HDMI 2 port. Do I need to switch the connection to the TV from HDMI port 2 to HDMI port 1 which has the ARC label? Also I have the sony system connected to the TV with Digital Optical cable.
  4. Hi All, I was wonder if anyone can help me out. At home I am trying to have the TV output through my home cinema system but doesn't seem to work. I have an LG Smart TV and a Sony Bluray Home Cinema system. I have both connect together with HDMI cable and Optical Cable. Any suggestions will be welcome. Thanks in Advance
  5. Thanks guys, all sorted.
  6. Group Policy.
  7. Hi All, I have noticed that printers are not deploying properly on the network. I have checked the event viewer and there was a warning regarding Group Policy Printers. The message is below: Log Name: Application Source: Group Policy Printers Event ID: 4098 Description: The computer preference item in the '{GUID}' Group Policy object did not apply because it failed with error code '0x80070bcb The specified printer driver was not found on the system and needs to be downloaded.' This error was suppressed The printers usually deploy. I have noticed in the past that at times certain printers would not deploy but thought nothing of it and manually added the printers. But today after imaging a new laptop (win 8.1 x64) and added it to the correct OU in AD and after GP update realised the printers were not installing and identified the above error. The printers are installed on Server 2012, clients are Vista business, Win 7 and Win 8.1 x64. Printer drivers x64 and x86 are installed on the server. I can manually add the printer without any problems. I have tried the below but still no luck 1. Go to your local GPO (type gpedit.msc in the search box) 2. Go to Computer Configuration / Administrative Templates / Printers 3. Find a policy named "Extend Point and Print connections to search Windows Update" and Enable it 4. Then run gpupdate /force in the command prompt and see if all of your printers are installed on this computer via your GPP Any suggestions will be helpful. Thanks in advance.
  8. Thanks. I have made my mind up and will be going with Ruckus.
  9. Hi Everyone, I thought I would ask for some advice from people that have used or managed either Ruckus or Xirrus wireless networks. I am looking to upgrade the school wireless network. Currently we are using cisco standalone wireless AP's which are about 10 years old. Both suppliers are saying that theirs is the best. I would like opinions from neutral people that have used it. We are a primary school of about 450 pupils are use laptops and ipads at school. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks in advance.
  10. The laptop is not currently joined to the domain, so when navigating to the Deployment Share I use the domain administrator details to get access to the share. Regards to the nic driver I have extracted the drivers from the laptop and uploaded them on to MDT.
  11. Hi Everyone, I am using MDT 2013 on server 2012. I am trying to capture a windows 7 x64 image. I have create a capture task sequence but when I try to capture an image it goes through the whole process then at the end it says it has failed. Below is the message: Deployment Summary Failure Operating system deployment did not complete successfully. Please review the log files to determine the cause of the problem. During the deployment process, 9 errors, 0 warnings were reported. I am using the following customer settings ini for Capture: [settings] Priority=Default Properties=MyCustomProperty [Default] OSInstall=Y SkipAppsOnUpgrade=YES SkipCapture=NO SkipAdminPassword=YES SkipProductKey=YES Thanks in advance.
  12. This laptop is new and the VGA port has not been used before.
  13. I have tried connecting a monitor and changed the resolution but still no luck. It is also not the connectors because other laptops work fine. The resolution settings on the laptop are as follows: Display: 1|2 Multiple Monitors Resolution: 1280 x 720 Orientation: Landscape Multiple displays: Duplicate these displays (I have changed this setting to Extend these displays, still the same)
  14. I think I have tried changing the resolution, but I will try again tomorrow also will try connecting a monitor and see what happens. Thanks
  15. Hi All, I have a Fujitsu Lifebook A series A544 Laptop which does not connect to the projector. Projector is displayed with no signal. I have pressed Fn + F10 and selected the correct option till the same. I have changed the settings on the projector (Computer 1, Computer 2, VGA etc) still the same. I use a different Fujitsu Lifebook A series A544 Laptop and that works fine with the projector. I have checked the drivers and screen resolution and they seem fine. Any advice would be welcomed.. Many thanks
  16. Thanks guys, finally working. It was a permission issue, I added authenticated users and domain computers.
  17. CSCC - The shared folder it called MSI$. I will change the permission and see what happens.
  18. CSCC - the msi folder is labelled as MSI$. I will change the settings and see I that makes any changes. Speckled - I'm a bit confused to what you trying to say.... lol
  19. Currently the computers don't have access to the share, only what's stated above.
  20. The folder that contains the msi's, is a hidden share. Would that be the issue?? The permissions on the MSI folder are as follows: System - Full Control Administrator - Full Control Domain Users - Full Control Administrators - Full Control
  21. Yes. I have just installed policy central and Microsoft XNA framework browsing to the UNC path.
  22. Hi Everyone, It is failing to install all MSI's that I am trying to deploy. I have checked the permissions on the msi folder and it seems fine. The server was installed during the last half term. I am also trying to deploy Microsoft XNA Framework and that is also failing. I have deployed these software in the past on other servers and they worked fine.
  23. Hi All, I have just noticed that my msi deployment via group policy is failing. I am using Server 2012 R2 (newly installed) group policy to deploy policy central, for some reason it shows that it is installing during startup but when I check the laptop it does not show anything installed. I have checked Event Viewer on the laptop and it shows MsiInstaller with Event ID: 1040 and 1042. Message is Beginning a Windows Installer transaction:{2a858ef4-0801-40ca-b045-2dee9874804e}. Client Process Id: 1084. Thanks.
  24. Thanks Sparkeh, I will probably do the same as I think Moodle and WordPress would be a bit too difficult for children to use at this stage..
  25. The ICT Coordinator has bought the Rising Stars Switched on Computing package, which has Moodle and WordPress in the Year 5 and 6 Units. Not 100% sure, but I assume the children will use them to design/create websites. We currently have server 2012 which has IIS. If it is for the children to use, what would be the best way to implement this?? Thanks
