Hi All, I have checked Event Viewer and I am getting a Event 13508, NtFrs error. Please see below: The File Replication Service is having trouble enabling replication from DC1 to DC2 for c:\windows\sysvol\domain using the DNS name DC1. FRS will keep retrying. Following are some of the reasons you would see this warning. [1] FRS can not correctly resolve the DNS name DC1 from this computer. [2] FRS is not running on DC1. [3] The topology information in the Active Directory Domain Services for this replica has not yet replicated to all the Domain Controllers. This event log message will appear once per connection, After the problem is fixed you will see another event log message indicating that the connection has been established. DC1 is a server 2008 R2 and DC2 is a server 2012 R2. This error has been happening for a few months. It was working before. I have checked the File Replication Service on both servers and the are working fine. The storage space on on DC1 c drive is quite low. Could that be the problem? Hi All, I was just wonder if it is possible to export all the data in CMIS regards to pupil and staff on to a spreadsheet. Our current MIS system is SIMS. CMIS was used previously and we only have a read only licence as it is not a live system. The only reason we have it is to refer back to historic data if there is any SARs request. Financially we do not need it as it has been over 7 years. We are currently upgrading our MIS Server and was hoping to save some cost not having to migrate CMIS over. Thanks in advance.

Good point, probably much cheaper. ON CBT Nugget do they have lab work and sample mock tests? You mentioned about Sybex books, i tried to google it and it came up with prams!! lol Do you have details of the books?

Thanks for your response. The course main focus is on the CompTIA A+ where they provide you with lab work and the exam certification. With all the others i think they are more like taster course and if you interested in a specific area you will do the proper course where you will also do the certification exam. One of my friends given me the CBT Nugget videos for Server 2012 many years ago. They are really good. Do you know how much it costs to access the CBT Nugget program?

It was £2846 but now £749. I found it through reed.co.uk website. This includes the CompTIA exam fee as well (both parts). The other areas do not include exams. They are more to get a feel of the topic and then decide which area you want to focus more on. I phoned another company yesterday and just to do the CompTIA A+ is £699 including both exams.

I must be years behind as I don't have WSUS or PDQ. I've had another teacher report the printing white stripe issue today. Her printing worked fine on Friday. Her laptop must have updated since then. Could i just manually uninstall all the updates done since last Friday?

Do you know which particular update is causing this issue? or should i just uninstall the recent updates?

Please let us know the outcome.

About a week now. I have another user who also prints from a camera SD card and she can print fine. I have raised a support call with the suppliers of the printers but i don't thing they will be much of a help.

Hi, For some reason now when I print a JPEG image, the middle part to the image is missing. I have attached an example of a print to this email. Printing images was fine up until about a week ago. A user started to get this issue when she was trying to print images from a camera SD card. Then I tried this same SD card on another laptop, it worked fine for a day or two then she started to get the same issue with her laptop. Now I am getting the same issue with my laptop when I want to print pictures straight from a folder. It doesn’t matter which printer I use, all pictures printed have the middle missing. When I copy and paste the pictures to MS Word, it prints out fine. I have restarted the print spooler but that hasn't made and difference. Hi All We recently had G-Suite for Education setup at our school with all the classes and pupils extracted from the MIS system. We have recently purchased 60 Lenovo Chromebooks awaiting delivery sometime in October. We are a school that is use to using laptops and active directory environment so Chromebooks are totally new to us. I was just wondering are they easy to setup and configure? Also can I customise them with our school details? Any setup details/process will be most appreciated. Thanks in advance!

We have office365 and with that we get SharePoint and Teams. I have been tasked in school to somehow try to get our school shared area (staff shared) to be available online (or parts of it available online). My thoughts are that I can either use SharePoint or MS Teams. I don’t have much experience using them. I just want peoples’ thoughts on this as they may have much more experience or have already implemented this. I want to know which one would be better to use in my situation? The pros and cons for using either one. Is there any backup available just in case files/folders are deleted or corrupted? Any suggestions or advice will be mostly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Hi All, I was wondering as all schools are closed, what other schools are doing regarding how teachers are communicating with pupils, are they doing online classes and how they are doing that, are they using any particular platforms etc. We currently have Office 365 suite which includes share point and MS Teams but have not been used yet. We currently give out homework packs to all the children's. Any advice or tips will be much appreciated. Thank you.

I have changed the 1 to 0 and tested it on 2 laptops with pupil and staff login. It has taken the tick out so is not using the proxy address. I will do further testing in the next few days. Guys thanks for all you help. Much appreciated!!!

Thanks I will give that a go tomorrow. If that option takes the tick out I don't really need to worry about the Default Domain Policy. I will make the change and do a gpupdate /force.

Am I making the change in the Value Data field from 00000001 to 00000000? and then just applying the changes.

Regards to the Default Domain Policy, I have followed your instructions and identified which GUID it is, following the path C:\Windows\SYSVOL\domain\Policies\{6AC1786C-016F-11D2-945F-00C04fB984F9}\USER it is empty. There are no files in the User Folder. I have used the same method you mentioned for the TEAGPO and managed to locate the IEAK file. The C:\Windows\SYSVOL\domain\Policies\{4BFBC0A2-8EA4-401A-9600-2CE4532510AC}\User\MICROSOFT\IEAK. This policy is not linked to any OU's. Any reason why I can't find the IEAK for Default Domain Policy?

Hi All, I have gone through my group policies and found that I have the proxy settings deployed using 3 different policies (not sure why). One of them being the Default Domain Policy another Curriculum Internet Policy and the last one is TEAGPO. Default Domain Policy setting is below: User Configuration\Policies\Windows Settings\Internet Explorer Maintenance Editing the policy using the above path is not available because the Internet Explorer Maintenance is no longer available. Curriculum Internet Policy User Configuration\Preferences\Windows Settings\Registry This policy shows the following: ProxyEnable(Order:1) ProxyOverride(Order:2) ProxyServer(Order:3) As I can see and Edit this policy, what is the best way of undoing this policy? Should I just delete the entries in the policy? Or Change the Action from Update to Delete and save the changes made. Would that take effect on all the users\laptops? TEAGPO This GP was applied to an OU that have old usernames no longer in use in this domain so I just deleted the policy. Sorry about the essay. I am a newbie to Group Policy. I just want to be able to remove all proxy settings on our system. Thanks

Hi All, After deploying proxy setting using GP a few years ago, today I tried to access internet explorer maintenance to remove the proxy settings but couldn't find Internet Explorer Maintenance under User Configuration\Windows settings. I have tried to search the internet but can't get my head around find a solution. As we are changing internet providers I need to remove all the proxy settings from the laptops and computers. I am using Windows Server 2012 R2 and we have IE11. All I need is to be able to remove the current proxy settings. Thanks in advance.

Thanks for that. I think I got my head around how to raise the domain and forest functional levels. As we have 2 DC on the network, 1 on Server 2008 R2 and the other 1 on Server 2012 does it matter which DC domain functional level I raise first? would that replicate to the other DC or do I have to manually raise the domain functional level on both DC? Once that's done I will raise the forest functional level.

I am trying to setup password policies through active directory administrative centre and realised the New and Delete options are greyed out. After doing some research it could be because of my domain and forest functional level. We have 2 servers, the domain controller is a Server 2012 (R2) and the other Server is 2008 (R2). I have checked the Forest and Domain Functional level on both servers and it is set to Windows Server 2003. I want to raise the levels on both servers so that I can have access to the facilities on ADAC. What do I do? Do I just raise the level on the Server 2008 R2 to its highest level which is Windows Server 2008 R2 and do the same to the Server 2012 R2? Or do I need to do it on server 2012 first? I am guessing I should not raise the Forest/domain functional level do Windows Server 2012 as Server 2008 will not support it. Is there precautions I need to take? If there is any issues can I just roll back etc, does the server need a reboot after I have raised the level? Thanks in advance.
