Dropped the price a bit. I had checked Ebuyer but appears it's much cheaper to buy new from Amazon so price dropped accordingly.

I work from home quite a bit now (at least once a week) and going from having two in the office, to only one at home is the killer for me. I'm also doing more design/photography stuff which again will benefit from some extra screenege! Gaming wise one is enough although i don't game as much as i used to these days. Note: I can courier at a push although i'd rather not if i can help it.

Yeaaah it's a really crackin' screen. I just can't deal with only having one. It's amazing how much you miss having two screens

The Auto-download on the Agents tab will mean the agents download any update that's been downloaded on the server, regardless of whether it's been deployed or not etc. Really strange one this though. My only other thought is that there's a permissions issue and the agent(s) are just constantly downloading the upgrades etc. Maybe check the permissions on the C:\ProgramData\Capita\Solus3\Deployments\ folder on the workstation. This is where the updates are stored on the workstation, could be that the agent is downloading it to a temp folder but then can't write it to here. Keeps trying etc etc.

Certainly seems high to me. Quick thought, do you have the auto download updates (Settings - SOLUS3 - Updates) AND auto download agents turned on (settings - SOLUS3 - Deployments)? If so, it could be that everything single patch, upgrade etc is being downloaded and then sent out to the agents (although it still shouldn't be this big). The only other thing i can think of is if the machines are pulling all the historic updates as well. How big is your SIMS Update Repository on the server?

Talking rubbish! I was under the impression that the Agent not returning the Agent Version number was a .Net Framework issue. Solus 3.12 requires .Net 4.5.2 minimum to work properly. If you've upgraded from 3.10 to 3.12, this might explain why you're getting the issues all of a sudden etc. Also, if the agents are reporting back etc however, rebuilt machines aren't automatically deploying SIMS when you re-add them back to SOLUS. A quick fix is to go Environment > Targets > Clients, remove the PC from the list (doesn't uninstall the agent etc). Then Add > Choose Clients > Agents and re-add the PC. Seems to clear the history and the agent will generally then install SIMS as required.

Yeah i thought the same. A simple read only version of the pupil account would be really nice so the parents could hop on for a quick look.

I had a brief play yesterday. The pupil account does exactly what it says on the tin. It allows the pupils to login and choose their options. It's actually really quite nice etc. But we couldn't get the Parent one to work. The user was set up in the Admin and the Parent permission box was ticked etc but it just wasn't playing ball. Whenever i tried to log in it just said that i didn't have permissions to view anything. In honesty I don't actually think it's set up yet as there's no mention of Parent accounts in any of the Capita documentation.

How odd! Last week, we had a very similar phone call. The school called saying a whole bunch of users logged in just fine at 8am but then couldn't log in mid-morning. Checked the accounts and they had been set as Inactive so had to be re-activated and have their passwords reset. Very strangely, it was in alphabetical order i.e. only those with surnames beginning with A - L were affected. No idea how it happened or what could have caused it. To be honest, if someone had told me about it, i probably wouldn't have believed it!

The Home should then be of use to you as your phone doesn't actually have to be connected for it to work. We have a Google Play Music subscription (also works with Spotify), the Home signs in as me so then doesn't have to rely on the phone to stream etc, you just ask it to play whatever you want and it'll play it. This also works with Podcasts and as Radio is free and online etc, i'm assuming it will do the same thing.

We now have two mini's, one in the kitchen and one in the bedroom and so far, i'm really impressed. The communication with Lady Googs is great and generally the voice recognition is spot on etc. Plus for it's size, the sound quality if surprisingly good providing you don't try and blast it out etc. Obviously it lacks bass and any real oomph but it's pretty decent for some tunes while cooking or a podcast while getting ready. Might even be tempted to pick up a third for the shed

Following on from this... Might not be related at all but worth mentioning. We've had issues in the past with slow logins and it's actually been the proxy/smoothwall etc. When you first open SIMS, the first thing it does it check the DMS which, by default, operates via HTTP. If you haven't got the MIS server (or whatever is hosting the DMS) within the Proxy bypass then it will go through the proxy which can really slow things down (a good few minutes to login). Easiest test is obviously turn off the proxy on the machine and try logging in to SIMS again.

Hmmmm I'm dubious about that. Although i'd imagine the SIMSApplicationSetup will run as it's the first thing to deploy so will upgrade Pulsar etc so people should be able to get into SIMS but AMPARK and the rest won't be done. Might have to deploy to a small School and find out Ps. I'm LEA but ssshhhhh I like it here!

Another response from Capita: Thank you for your feedback.You are correct. When running the update manually it will install the SIMS application successfully, however, the SIMSApplicationSetup.exe will continue to hang after the install completed. Having tested, we can confirm that the above behaviour is observed on instances where Sophos/Indirect x are present. No fault with the installers themselves have been found. Now they're desperately trying to close my call. I think Capita just want to wash their hands of the issue. Technically it is Sophos issue but you'd think they'd want to take some ownership (even a little bit) to ensure it gets resolved before the upgrade comes out because A; to help us out as we are paying customers afterall and B; it's going to become a much bigger issue if its not fixed before people start deploying the upgrade.

I suppose it doesn't really cause an issue but i thought it was worth highlighting to Capita incase they were missing something.
