Honestly, I think that will do you nicely. As someone else has said, don't get caught up in gear. It's very easy to believe that a new lens will improve your photography but its simply not true. Yes the kit lens is a bit limited but it's dirt cheap when bought with the camera and you can use it to learn the basics of photography and understand what type of photography you like. The only thing that might be worth buying is a zoom lens which will allow you to dabble in some Wildlife stuff etc but realistically there's no need upgrading from the kit lens until you feel it's holding you back.

[sims] Excel Reports - Macro's do not exist! Help please?
MrMat replied to rhysduk's topic in MIS Systems
This is actually how it's designed to work which makes it a little difficult to resolve. The template is actually just the middle man, all the macro contained within doesn't actually end up in the resulting Excel document. Think of it like this: - The report is ran within SIMS. This outputs a Txt file containing all the data - Your template is then opened and the macros are run - One of the jobs of the Auto_Open macro is to create a new Excel document and copy all of the Text file into this new document. The template file never actually contains the data from SIMS, all it's Macros are ran against the newly created Excel document - Once it's done it's job. The Excel template is then closed (along with your navigation macros!) - You're left with a nice tidy newly created Excel document containing zero macros! I think what you will need to do is write some VB that copies your navigation macros and any command buttons etc across from the template doc into the new doc. -
Once again my cheap FD Ebay glass is doing me proud All the below shot on my Sony A7 with a Canon FD 28mm F/2.8 Let the dust settle as the sun sets... by Alex Matravers, on Flickr Hey Guido, It's a real Ferrari... by Alex Matravers, on Flickr 288 GTO by Alex Matravers, on Flickr Little too close... by Alex Matravers, on Flickr

The old glass is great but it doesn't work as well on modern DSLR's. When you add an adapter, the distance from the sensor to the lens is increased which changes how the lens functions (the field of view will be different (more 'zoomed') and you most likely wont be able to focus to infinity etc). That, to me at least, is one of the biggest benefits of Mirrorless because to keep them thin, the sensor isn't set back very far so you can add an adapter/lens and it'll function exactly as it would on an old film camera as the distance from Sensor to Lens is the same. On that note, I think i may have developed a slight addiction... I won three more last night!!! Got a Canon 50mm F1.4, Canon 28mm SCC 2.8 and a Vivitar 135mm 2.8 on the way To pay for the above, I'm selling my Samyang 35mm F1.4. It's a cracking lens, just doesnt feel quite right on my Sony A7.

Couple new'uns from me. Nothing too exciting, just been playing in the garden with the new glass. If you have Capita Hosted SLG the it's free. Self hosted SLG is £1 per pupil per year with a minimum of about £200 and a maximum of £1500 i think. If you don't have SLG at all, it's £2 per pupil per year with the same min and max.
-
Yeah it's limited to just teachers at the moment however, at the Capita Conference it was mentioned that they are working to change this so that other members of the School can also have access to the Teacher App. When this will be however, I have no idea.

Blimey! That's quite a lens for your first. I've just purchased myself two new lenses: Tamron 300mm Adaptamatic f/5.6 (made sometime between 1969 - 1972) Vivitar (Komine) 200mm f/3.5 Both for £70 delivered. I think this Legacy lens thing may become addictive...

That's now changed. It was originally planned to be Smiler but is now Nemesis I believe.

*Cough* Nerrddddd! *Cough* Different strokes for different folks . I did used to be far more strict but i found that i'd end up wasting time or getting frustrated if i couldn't keep to my plan for whatever reason (gym being busy, PT's doing circuits on like 57 different machines at once etc). Good news on the shoulder though woohoo. Hopefully not long until you can get yourself back into the Gainnnzzzzzz making business...

Try inserting * inside of your "" when doing the Countif i.e. =countif(A1:A50,"*>*")

Sorry to hear you're bored already. Does sound to me like you need to mix things up a little bit. For me, one of the best things i ever did was throw the 'book' out the window. I try to train each muscle group once a week but i don't have specific days (i.e. Monday = chest etc etc). I just train what i want to train how i want to train it. Example, today i turned up to the gym knowing i was going to train legs but didn't have a specific plan. Started with some leg extensions and leg curls (used the prone machine for a change!), then did a pyramid set of squats (as the squat rack was free) then heavy leg press (heavier than usual) and finally calf raises. It was fun! My point being, use your PT to get an understanding of how to train and what trains what etc and then start throwing your workouts together on the fly incorporating the rep ranges, sets, lifts that you enjoy. Obviously make sure you don't neglect things but providing you're not training for a specific purpose (bodybuilding, powerlifting etc) just do what you want to do and have fun with it

The sellers clearly nut horsing around! Obviously making hay while the sun shines...
-
Yeah you'll feel it more in your quads and lower back as they're the main muscles that are performing the lift i.e. they're the muscle groups that will be contracting to pull the weight. However, your lats, traps and shoulders will also be engaged as they'll be stopping your shoulders from coming forward/down and stopping your arms from falling off.
-
Nice one! I shall give it a go Recently I've started focusing much more on the eccentric phase and trying to take as long as i can to come back down from the bar. Certainly will try that counting thingy! Yeahh i do need to start including more Deadlifts back into my workouts. I've had a bit of time off them recently so i could concentrate on the other lifts etc but i think it's time to throw them back in

Sometimes there was a slight cheesy taste to it but not nearly as bad as i was expecting. I will eat Mild Cheddar but besides that, i'm not a fan of cheese either.
-
Thanks buddy Shoulders are a strength for me. Shoulder gaiinnnnnzzzz have always come comparatively easy for me, and it helps that it's one of my favourite bodyparts to train. On the other side of the spectrum, my lats are poor! Really struggle to get stronger on lat pulls, pull ups etc. Rows & shrugs (i.e. Traps, Rhomboids) are fine but my lats suck. 5 pullups are all i can really manage at the minute and even that ruins me. I feel for you though, i'd hate to be off the gym. It's the highlight of my day! Ohhhhhhhhh also, check these out: 20g Protein Yoghurts. Tried one today and they're actually pretty nice; like a big Pettis Filous. Only £1 at the minute too.
-
Me too. It's utterly fantastic.

47kg is light, even if you're small 47kg is light. I hadnt actually checked mine in a while so i thought id have a look and can officially announce that i'm no longer obese (just) yay!
-
Argggghhh Sorry my bad. It's actually Sainsburys not Tesco. Linky Link Stupidly heavy for your weight!! I know the feels. Good ol' BMI making out your bigger than you actually are?
-
I've had a change in routine recently too and have lost a good few lbs so far. My diet currently: Breakfast = Small bowl of Proteiny Granola followed by a pre workout on the way to the gym. Second breakfast (once I arrive at my desk) = Banana and protein shake Lunch = Good serving of salad, coldslaw and pork (Tesco Pulled Pork shoulder £6, cook it on Sunday and makes about 4 portions for the week each with about 40g proteiny goodness - tasty too and a bargain!) Afternoon Snack = Protein Bar, some other fruit and/or yoghurt Tea = Whatever we fancy however currently either avoiding the carbs entirely or sticking with Sweet Potato. Snack = Yoghurt Not entirely sure on the Macros or the overall Calories but definitely in a caloric deficit as the weight is dropping off. Protein is still really high and still lifting 5 times a week to make sure i don't just disintegrate entirely! Plan to keep going for another couple of weeks, no set goal weight wise really just going to stick to it until i get bored. Oddly my strength hasn't suffered all that much, put up the 38kg dumbbells for 3x8 reps shoulder press over the weekend which is a best for me so happy days!

Getting records to spread in to RTF Table cells
MrMat replied to SimonCygnetIT's topic in MIS Systems
It's fiddly getting it to work this way as word generally works down the page and not across it. What you're probably better off doing is creating one table per pupil and having it repeat across the page etc. I created an Exam Photo Cards report using the following format: The really important thing to remember is to set columns on the page (I used 2 columns). Also, bare in mind you have to get the sizes spot on for it to work which can get messy. The above template results in a report that looks like this: -
So i watched Predestination the other night...ARRRGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH my brain!! Interesting film to say the least. Need to watch it again to try and understand it.
