I didn't see any zapping this year I have to be honest. I sent all my spam out this morning, but this was mostly to suppliers

Have a look at Sporting Nation. The software is biased towards sports clubs but seems can be generic enough for those needs.

I'm wearing mine now, my daughter finds it hilarious! Best freebie of 2014

Well... aside from Magic Phil's (Smoothewall) Magic - off against the Lapsafe man... I was impressed by a more generic feel, split between the arrogance of some big suppliers that their software was infallible (for once I am not aiming a swipe at Capita!), and mirrored with some really impressive offerings from some comparatively micro suppliers. These included ClassCharts (simple but effective classroom data analysis), Sporting Nation (sports teams and events management software), and then some of the simple innovative hardware pieces mostly for tablet management, like micro multi charging and syncing devices.

Interesting question: is the data, or information important to you? Data being the field contents in each record in each table. Information being the data combined together to give meaning. Therefore, as we would all agree that the information is the important bit, you would be allowed to keep the underlying data model intact, it belongs to you, as the data 'owners'. Are you sure this is not a payment for maintenance and updates??

What are you talking about, it is a fantastic product! [Message sent 25/01/2027]

It's plenty busy on the edugeek stand today

EduDrunk leads to EduHeadache. ...

Ah see the hosted argument is a little better because they would still be supporting the back end so is justified. .. not 75% mind

Hummmmmmm they maybe walking into a minefield here. Firstly they do not own the data or database... you do. They only own the software interface. Secondly this goes against some of the principles of the BECTA report. I have to be honest from a company still recovering from bad press this is not a good move really. A quick buck scheme that damages customer relations (like a certain supplier charging academies twice...) Not suggesting I know the ins and outs, only based on this thread, and legally I am sure they are justified in this... morally however...

I'm having all my meetings at your stand!

As if we are not doing enough drinking these next few days!!!

Just leaving for the train now, a packed week ahead! Interested to know, as I was just having this conversation with @penfold_99 what is the first stand you are going to visit? Don't all suck up and say Edugeek!

God help us - UKIP councillor blames storms and floods on gay marriage....
GREED replied to tech_guy's topic in General Chat
I did wonder if this bloke wrote headlines for Daily Mail... -
Let's hope that isn't the 2013 version too!! Or blank
-
Think there would be a line of complaints if it were open to the general public
-
It is shocking, totally shocking, that for an ed tech show their app is so bad. And has been every year
-
Big Data I think will be mentioned more. He loves his terms that are so abstract they could mean anything, yet he doesn't understand their meaning, particularly in a school environment!
-
Indeed, there are alternatives out there (I'm barred from saying, because I work for one of them...)
-
Yes, I wonder what ill-conceived yet sector-shaking announcement he will make this year (I was there when he disassociated ICT from the curriculum... he needs to better himself this year!)

We seem to have strayed from the OP slightly, although this is just as meaningful. And I have long professed the same mantra: You don't need to buy and have a tablet because it can do the same job as pen/paper/phone/computer/. If it does it better, faster, easier, and has a proven benefit long term for the user regardless of who it is, then great, but not just get it for the sake of have them (or worse, boasting you have them).
