  1. Oh dear... this is not good news for those schools
  2. Sorry, I use cling-film... more plastic to ruin the environment
  3. And what is the alternative? Turn all wifi off everywhere and live in the dark ages, cripple industry around the world that depends on it, and carry on living with our tin foil hats on...
  4. How about asking for the data you need once and transpose that across several collections? Coupled with requesting information on a more sensible timescale for the data item - why collect all person demographic every single time? Any many more classics like that (all on a 3 disc set )
  5. Tony, I totally understand your point and agree with it. However when has any research piece every been total proof and not contradicted or argued about, particularly in the modern world with new ideas and claims. The fact it this is early days still in the research, so some are claiming x while other contradict with y.
  6. I have the Flame police speed dial on standby... Would appear neither of you are going to agree... so how about move on!
  7. I only wish I had anything to do with the setting of policy for the Census - unfortunately that is at ministerial level. I've been helping/researching on the what where when and how for Data Exchange mk2
  8. Interesting to see light spots all over the world particularly in very remote areas!
  9. Watched the NZ game last night, on the edge of my seat at times (only a few) to see them struggle for periods. I missed Japan so watched the last 4 minutes on YouTube... incredible!
  10. There are, of course, several other providers of such parental engagement technology...
  11. Realistically your school should already have some sort of data sharing agreement in place between the school and parents. This should layout what information you collect for what purposes and what third party organisations have access to it. The only exception is the statutory collections for the DfE (although you should still tell your parents this). If you have a data sharing agreement in place, check the wording to see if this new venture covers this, if not you should reissue and inform parents of this. Many DSAs simply cover broad data areas and uses as a catch all. If you do not have a data sharing agreement in place and you are collecting and sharing data about students/parents... suggest you get one as a first port of call, lest the LA or ICO decide to pay a visit! You should also read up on the Data Protection Act to ensure your venture falls within this remit - and above all ensure parents know about it too. Out of interest what is it you are trying to do?
  12. Indeed. It was me mucking about, skin cancer is not in the least bit funny.
  13. Yer... irony there that Brits get more cancer from WiFi radiation and not the sun...
  14. So many parameters to take it account. Not least proximity, frequently... we would have had some signs by now... it would develop not just reach 30 years and boff... cancer!
  15. According to published material, the machine ID or UDID (if this is your meaning) is no longer accessible to non-Apple software. This is/was due to privacy concerns (mostly in the US). Most now use the IDFV (ID For Vendors).
  16. Happy to talk on this. PM me. Interested to know your requirement as, as Vik says, if you want to connect to a third party, you pay for it through them as part of your purchase. It is not something that needs to be purchased separately. Unless you want to be doing something ah hoc. I work for Groupcall incase that wasn't obvious already!!
  17. To which ID are you referring? UDID that is no longer usable by one third party, or the IDFV which changes very rarely?
  18. Somehow sciency it must end with his brain being microwaved
  19. Maybe "my child says he doesn't feel well when he goes to school"
  20. GREED

    water problem

Strike's off. Playing devils advocate, tube strike will affect more than 300,000 people Plus... where are all the newspaper offices!
  21. All said above is spot on. The only thing I would say, and have said for years now, is an MIS should be a jack of all trades, master of none especially when it comes to the specialisms such as assessment management and analysis (Phils comments notwithstanding), communication and parental engagement, business intelligence... things like that. Not saying these suppliers above do or do not do these well, but just don't go in thinking yiur MIS should and must do everything itself to the level you need. Let's be fair, if they did there would not be the eco system of 3rd party suppliers out there! Assessment is the big one, as is any interaction with hardware (cashless catering, payments etc).
  22. So many jokes abound there... rubbing pussies and all that...
  23. Would love that as a fatality... the character just rubs a balloon on their head and touches the opponent as he bursts into flames
  24. Actually (and not trying to burst your bubble because I think this too!) I have twice. Killed 2 sticks of memory in short order with a static shock... one burned the silicone bit where I touched it! It was AWESOME!
  25. Brilliant I have a million of my daughters bracelets at home I could market as ASWBs £ £ £ here I come!
