Not spotted any particular patterns. Saying that, I've just typed this response in the quick reply box without any problem - until I went back to fix a spelling mistake.

There seems to be a bit of a common 'Jesus' thing between us techie lot. I used to get it regularly; not from kids from school - just a group of teenagers in the park when I was walking my dog. They thought I was cool, though, when my response was to raise my hand and say 'Bless you, child'. Now that I've shaved my head, grown a big beard and moved house, I get called 'Alan' (from The Hangover - apparently), to which I also respond with a smile and a wave, so these guys think I'm pretty cool too. As for kids from school, they usually offer one of two responses: they are either pleased to see me and get all excited, or they just ignore me. There was one kid, who lives just around the corner, who spotted me out in the street as everyone was seeing in the New Year. She shouted me, then ran down the street, jumped into my arms and gave me a big hug, closely followed by her mum (who, thankfully, didn't do the jumping bit!).

I often have to stop and refresh a page to get it to load completely. Sometimes I just end up closing the browser and coming back later. I also have difficulty using the Quick Reply, which doesn't always recognise keystrokes.

I was in a similar position with CS4 earlier in the year and I was given this link by @Nixon77 - Download Adobe CS4 and CS3 Free Trials Here (incl. After Effects) | ProDesignTools. Worked for me, although mine wasn't VL (or Mac for that matter). You need to read the instructions and be logged in with a free Adobe account, otherwise it won't work. Hope it helps.

We have an account on the BT Business Direct (dabs.com) web-shop, which I use for small purchases like USB hubs, drives, SD cards, etc. Prompt delivery and reasonable prices, but I wouldn't use them for major purchases. I've been introduced to @VeryPC through this forum and find them to provide very good products and excellent, friendly customer service. AVPartsmaster has always been our port of call for projector spares in the past. Although I've never actually bought anything from them (yet), I can also say: I had a really helpful conversation with Kate from @Millgate this morning, regarding Microsoft licensing, that saved me from wasting money. Likewise, I've received some great bargain offers from @ICTDirect_Dave and heard good reports from other forum users (keep 'em comin' Dave. One of these days...)

I set up class folders on the shared drive and set the permissions so that teachers can create new subfolders to which students can save files directly. Students can also read/modify/delete their own files but not those belonging to other students. Teachers have full access to all files in the class folders. It took me ages to figure it out, but it works fine now. I've got the permissions saved as a .doc, which I can send you if you like. Teachers also have access to the students home drives.

In that case, it's a good job I've got a whole forum full of proof-readers and re-drafters.

Last year, I took out a 3-year OVS-ES for Windows and Office with a particular reseller. However, I've not been particularly impressed with their service. Does anyone know if it is possible to swap my provider, or will I have to wait until the end of the three years?

I'm term-time only +2 weeks, which I can do as and when. I tend to go in at least one day during each holiday and sometimes more. I'll be in and out over the summer, and also updating our school website at home. I've experienced many of the summer disruptions the OP mentions, but I still make sure I take time to enjoy my holiday.

I get on pretty well with most of the kids in school, although there are always a few that get right through to Year 6 and I think 'What was their name?' On the other hand, there are some that are just fabulous and I think, 'No!! You can't EVER leave!'...but they always do.

Hahaha! The comment was intended as witty rhetoric, but I'm glad it got people thinking. Edit: By the way 'series' is both singular and plural, a bit like 'sheep'. I'm going to have to watch every episode of Futurama (again!) over the summer now. This thread has reminded me just how brilliant it is.
