We have had a Clervertouch 55" in the school since last summer on a movable stand so that the young children and staff can use it. I haven't had any problems with it and no issues have been reported by the staff that use it. I am not sure if they have used the speakers a great deal so I can't comment on that. The main teacher has just continued to use her old version of SMART as all her slides were already in it. We will be looking at getting a couple of larger models for 2 new classrooms being constructed this summer so any recommendations would be appreciated before then. We are going to have to think about what to do software wise soon due to the SMART licensing changes. What kind of price ball park have people found 60-70inch models to be in (budget setting hat on)?

@Phildw we have a social media guidelines document which covers all usage of Twitter / Facebook but nothing that specifically covers our Facebook page. This might be added when the document is reviewed next year. The text that we have at the top of our page is: A warm welcome to our school! We tried to keep it as simple as possible.

We set up our FB group about a year ago and it is going from strength to strength. We have a small comment at the top of the group highlighting the proper methods of communication if you have a complaint etc. We have had no negative comments since it has been set up which is brilliant. As already mentioned photos get a lot better reponse than just text. I use the FB to mention when I upload new content to the web site so that I can drag people back to the website where they might find other useful information.

What did you think of the ending @BKGarry (without spoliers)? Yesterday I managed to get through the medical section with relative ease and then through a few more. Looks like I will need to get some game time during the week to try and ensure it is almost finished before AC lands on the door step.

I have been playing this game for a week now to fill the gap until Assassins Creed comes out and reading about it on this forum. It is has been very enjoyable / terrifying with my headphones on. My partner didn't believe me that it could be tense so I played the game while she was wearing the headphones for about 5 minutes and she has now changed her mind. I do find the save points a bit frustrating when you have nearly finished a large section and then the alien gets you and you have start again. This is getting me at the moment while in the Medical centre trying to get the trauma kit and get out.

Deny users="?" allows the unauthorised page to open but then it just reloads repeatedly.

Hi NickBro, thank you very much for all your help. When I add the following to my web.config the unauthorised.aspx file loads but then it reloads continually. If I add under the allow users line then I get the following configuration error from IIS on that line Configuration Error Description: An error occurred during the processing of a configuration file required to service this request. Please review the specific error details below and modify your configuration file appropriately. Parser Error Message: Authorization rule names cannot contain the '?' character. Not sure what I am doing wrong here.

Thank you for the quick reply that has worked perfectly. My unauthorised.aspx file has now got a redirect loop in it but I will have a look at that on Monday.

Hello All I have started working with HAP on a test server with the aim of initially using it for just our staff to access files offsite. I have managed to get it up and running with one of the YouTube videos and now got all of the shares to be showing correctly for staff. However any student account can also log into the HAP system. They do not see any options when they are logged in but I would rather they couldn't log in at all at the moment. Is there any way to limit the login to a particular AD Group / OU? I have had a read around of the website's documentation and quite a few posts on edugeek but I can't seem to find the answer. Regards

This is something that I am trying to do with our children as well but so far struggling to get decent numbers. We were looking at starting with using some hour of code website tasks. * Light Bot - Lightbot * Maze Games - Code.org - The Maze #1 * Flappy Bird Game Design -http://learn.code.org/s/6/level/158 We have done the maze games with the children last year and they enjoyed it pretty quickly. Probably going to aim the club at KS2.

Bruises from sports massage is quite common. I have had quite a few sports massages and they are definitely never a pleasurable experience. My old sports masseuse used to look into my eyes just as he used to dig into any knots as well. I think he liked to see the pain he was inflicting!

We have gone a step further than this at the moment and removed the store and bing health / fitness apps completely from the machine using a powershell script I found (and have now lost). If you want a copy of this script to have a look at then pm me.

Server 2012 does indeed have the options in GP for Win 8 settings or I used a win 8.1 VM to set the GP as not got a 2012 server just yet. The children here like using metro but it does have its limitations e.g. it wont display a tile if the programs aren't installed on the machine so they also use the all programs list that can be got at by swiping up on the screen. I populate the all programs list with a startup script syncing to a redirected start menu. MSI can be pushed out to the tablets using the normal method.

Have deployed 35 Asus Win8.1 tablets as full fat domain clients. Created image of master computer and then had to spread using USB y cable and pen drive. You can managed the Metro screen by creating your ideal screen and then taking the XML file using Powershell. The xml file can then be added to a GPO to be forced upon the clients. Not had to play with trying to deploy Metro apps yet though.

We have been using the Asus Smart ME400C for about 8 months here with our Year 3 pupils. I upgraded them to Win 8.1 using a USB Y connector and hub. After working through the GPO differences with Win 8.1 they have fitted into our network without too many issues. The pupils enjoy using them and the only problems we have had with them are due to our wireless network which will be replaced this summer. I know that the Smart comes with a keyboard but we haven't used it. The purchase of these tablets was largely down to their lower cost than most other windows tablets. So if you have a tight budget then I would recommend them so far.

Did you purchase any cameras after this discussion and have any positive / negative experiences? It is something that I am now looking at for our children doing interviews with authors for the Guardian website. At the moment we will have to use our class cameras which aren't great for picking up sound.

Just about to implement a scheme similar to @CyberDrac. We have been running Papercut for a year so we know what each class print (primary school) so I can sit down with SLT and create an allowance based on these figures. Sure we will create allowances for SLT or SEN groups and the user's will be able to choose which account to charge it against. This will be enforced and any printing over this will come from department budgets. I am then intending to drop these allowances by a percentage each year to encourage lower and lower printing.

Had to install Win 8.1 on our new Asus tablets but other than that staying win 7 on all the computers that I can for as long as I can. As a previous poster said I imported the policy definitions on the domain controller and have managed to get all of the Group Policy settings applied from a 2003 server which is due to be replaced this summer. Configured all of the polices using a Win 8.1 virtual machine on my desktop. Win 8.1 wasn't too hard to setup but I only finished the Win 7 upgrade last year. I don't want to jump another OS on the staff quite that quickly.

When I am not commuting and racing on the road I sometimes get to ride my Full Suss Stumpjumper around the woods near Bodmin. Got it second hand about 5 years ago and still going strong with a few component changes and the occasional service. I found mine by word of mouth but sometimes see semi deceent 2nd hand bikes in papers, local bike shops or on internet groups. Wish I could be further north so it wasn't quite so far to pop back into Wales to places like Afan and Cwm Carn.

Shouldn't be an issue with different Linux OSes as many run using the GRUB bootloader. We had windows 7 and 2 different Fedora distributions (1 fully configured and 1 that the students had to configure as part of a exercise) installed on the same hard drive without any issues across a suite of 30 or so machines. The main problem we had is if you reinstall Windows you have to rebuild the bootloader as it gets overwritten.

Is this not something that the inbuilt GRUB bootloader in Ubuntu will do. I remember doing this a long time ago. You have to install Windows first as it prefers to be the first partition on the hard drive and then install Ubuntu on what is left. Once this is done configure GRUB in Ubuntu so that it contains both options. I know that we managed to get this automated for remote installations but I can't not remember the details of how this was done.
