I’ve had Tado tor the best part of 8 years. Also an early adopter so no sub costs and I wanted it for the geolocation stuff too. Tbh it’s been flawless. I don’t touch it, save a replacing batteries now and again - I can’t remember when I last needed to. I suppose I have kept a close eye on the app in recent times with the cost of living. But mainly I’ve just lowered our minimum viable temperature ! I hate the subscription model for this kind of thing. If I was purchasing now I’d run home assistant and build a system myself. Other than that, 5 stars.

I’ve seen 80k for a small primary school. It’s a great spec but massively overkill. Could do 4 schools to a great standard with that.

I usually leave the printers installed an the print server and set the deploying GPP to delete. You could also set the gpp to just delete all shared printers - but it depends how you deploy them (shared / tcp-ip etc) I’d think the GPP would be able to remove GPO deployed printers - but I don’t use that method so couldn’t say 100%

I’ve never used shared iPads a mainly as they’re are, imo, designed as one to one devices. Shared also needs a minimum spec, which at the time I looked most of ours didn’t meet (was a while ago).

I’ve used a cheap powered usb hub to do this before. From a 2011 MacBook Pro. I got a max of about 8. iPads connected. I think with a better quality hub and certainly better quality cables 10 iPads at a time would have been achievable. Appreciate that’s still a long way when doing 500!

Really struggling for a lot of unifi stuff - although 24 and 48 port switches are coming through. I need a few 8 ports. They just don’t have em.

It’s fair to say saver rates are increasing - although still dwarfed by mortgage rates. I wasn’t particularly moving to nationwide for a remortgage - but I had a look while there. To me it’s a positive if 10 year fixed are lower than 5 years - to me it signifies that, at least, they aren’t confident they’ll stay high. But if I could predict 10 year mortgage rates, I wouldn’t have to worry about my finances [emoji2]

The cynic in me would say it allows them to say they’re wonderful human beings and have dropped their rates. I mean, what’s 1.5% when the rates are gonna be 10% + anyway ?! I’m just switching current accounts to nationwide (free £200 - why not?). I notice then 10 year fixes are relatively good - and better than their 2 or 5 year rates. Because rates are high and they’d love everyone locking them in for 10 years.

I have a eufy one. Prefer it to ring etc for local storage. I have the wireless model - but it allows you to wire to a ‘standard’ doorbell wiring for power.

I’ve had this and it’s usually disappeared after 24 hours. Always gets me tho - that heart drop when you think it’s all gone wrong lol

I thought about this recently. We’ve taken an old host of line. I was thinking about hyper-v core with an iscsi service. Use the server as a target with veeam. Hyper-v 2022 is no longer free. 2019 is and still supported.

My advisor said do nothing now and pray lol. He wasn’t really wrong tbh.

I’m currently moving from ‘saving’ for a car (when I paid of mine I kept paying the same I to a savings account) to over paying my mortgage I hope when our five year fixed ends next year things will be better. Not convinced. Think we’ll try and extend the length to try and keep paying a similar amount as now as the above poster.

My work laptop is a 2020 XPS 13”. I really like it after moving from a (upgraded) MacBook Pro 15” But I couldn’t resist getting myself a MacBook Air M1 - it’s lovely. Great battery, Quick and super light. I use that when I’m downstairs and take it out with me when not working. Love it.

I kissed this yesterday. But it installed lightning quick for me - on a couple of vms too

I generally prefer a clean install - but would an in place upgrade not work here ?

I haven’t read all this thread - but I did want to say I’ve been running hue bulbs for 8 years without issue. I’ve changed one early bulb (white) and just got an issue with an 8 year old colour one. The system has been flawless tbh and really helped with early smart home automation. We mainly run white ambiance lamps which can be picked up for ~£12 each or less at the right times. Or could before cost of living crises and the Uk going mad. I’m now running home assistant and trying to move to a more ‘home based’ system rather than rely on commercial clouds services. But hue (and Ikea) etc integrate with that well.

I’m not doubling the house temperature!
