Students - £5 a half-term Sixth Form - £6 a half-term Staff - £25 a half-term Admin/SLT - Unrestricted 5p per sheet, 7p in IT rooms, 4p for the Mono Photocopier, 7p for the Colour Photocopiers If anyone needs anymore though, they just ask. But we have found that introducing a balance has DRAMATICALLY reduced printing as people are like "hmm do i have enough to print these 100 pages of the word 'noob'?!"

This was all fixed in iOS 7 when Apple introduced silent app push for 3rd Party MDMs...

You are using this for W7 Logon Backgrounds. W7 supports multiple sizes: Your backgroundDefault.jpg file must be for the highest resolution you have, if the system resolution is smaller, it will automatically look for backgroundRESOLUTION.jpg in the same Folder (System32\oobe\info\backgrounds) Saves you fiddling around with scripts, you can just make a few images, name them appropriately and use them on every machine. (Sorry if this answer has already been suggested)

iPad apps for a network manager

Fing is good for port scanning -
MDM can only do so much, on device restrictions are even more powerful as shown above ^ In response to your Apple ID query, just make one Apple ID and don't have one per device. To utilize the full area of Apple Restrictions you really need to supervise them, and this means buying a Mac with Configurator.

Hi all, This is just a thread to communicate and discuss ideas regarding School Intranets. I am sure some of you around EduGeek will have seen ours but we are always looking to improve it with more features etc. What sort of thing does everyone else have on their intranets? Provide screenshots if you wish. Discuss!

Mixture of apps from Personal and School Apple IDs
SovietRussia replied to tmoon-mint's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
You can use one Apple ID per unlimited devices. Any Apple ID can redeem a VPP code/token. -
Profile Manager App Push does not require a user-end password as long as the device is supervised and enrolled successfully. iOS 7 brought with it new silent MDM features for 3rd parties like Meraki, but your devices MUST be supervised. The only way to supervise a device is you guessed it, using Apple Configurator. I would not setup each iPad with its own account, use one single Apple ID (Works for us here, but everyones deployment scenario is different). We have around 54 iPads here and before doing anything, I sat down with all the guides from Apple, Meraki etc and read about it. I learned how it worked, I learned how to tweak and fiddle until we have a perfect setup. It is a lengthy setup time but once you get them enrolled and out there, its easy. Configurator to Supervise them, Profile Manager to manage them - and with the new VPP features from Apple, VPP purchases now automatically show up in my Profile Manager Apps menu ready to push to what group, device or user I wish. (And you have to get your head around the fact that - yes, most features are not supported by Apple and manual work is required)

Mixture of apps from Personal and School Apple IDs
SovietRussia replied to tmoon-mint's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
We lock accounts down for this, so no Apple IDs can be added or removed. App Licensing is some what of a black art to understand -
If you are using Profile Manager, I am here to warn you in advance. Do not update to 3.1 - It will destroy your DB I found this the hard way

You can actually Apple Configurate these little bundles of joy. Plug em into a Mac with Apple Configurator running

[ipad] Multiple Site iPad Managment
SovietRussia replied to madurham's topic in Mobile Devices & Tablets
You are correct, iOS 7 brought super-silent MDM push to supervised and trusted MDMs (Meaning the Trust Certificate MUST be installed) where as before iOS 7, you had to use OS X Profile Manager to push silently. Also in response to someone above who said give each iPad an Apple ID - Don't do this! Create 3 Apple IDs for your 3 sites and sign in all the iPads on the site with the site specific Apple ID. You can have an unlimited amount of devices on one Apple ID but I would make one per site to make your life easier. As you are using VPP, you will need to create an extra 2 VPP accounts (one per site - If the site names are different). -- EDIT As you are using Meraki, you can setup some different profile tags to get you going so create 3 tags with your site names, then tag the devices at each site meaning you can push an entire App only to the one site not to all three - Might make it easier for granularity control (You can even tag them further such as Subject) -
Theres a little piece of javascript that changes the text after 3 seconds on the pop up of the box that changes it to "Sorry, I can't hear you..."

Intranet Changed banners to Nyan Cat Typing in "mirror" in the Google Search field, flips the website horizontally so everything is backwards. Typing in "do a flip" in the Google Search field, flips the web page around and does a little dance in CSS. Added a "Voice Activation" for students I did have the following planned but due to be, actually doing some work these didn't happen: Adding a DNS forwarding zone for facebook.com, then routing that to an internal webserver with a Facebook Login page which when the kids tried to hover over the login button, it would jump around the page. And if they did login, it just displayed a nice child safety internet warning.

Hey we all know Android had "Pull down the notification screen" before iOS did.

We had the same issue, Primary School had Caching turned on, took everyone's down - I wish they would change the caching scope to only include that range, or give us the input to enter a range.
