Link2ICT email issues ?? No external mail?
jamin100 replied to jamin100's topic in Birmingham Grid for Learning (BGfL)
Not using zimbra but our on site exchange is working ok now. So it could just be a zimbra issue -
On the other side of that were a big ish site and cover the whole school with 16 unifi AP's There was 32 ruckus ap's in just before Christmas and coverage a problem due to the age of the kit We get around 150-180 on the wireless typically most pulling VDi sessions through

Link2ICT email issues ?? No external mail?
jamin100 replied to jamin100's topic in Birmingham Grid for Learning (BGfL)
Our email came back to life around 9pm last night. All the test emails that were queued up in exchange came through to an external account at once I think this will make is seriously consider moving our internet away from them for September -

Link2ICT email issues ?? No external mail?
jamin100 replied to jamin100's topic in Birmingham Grid for Learning (BGfL)
Have had info from Link2ICT the mail servers are trying to deal with a massive influx of spam at the moment, most of it going to quarantine. This is making the mail servers un-responsive and sluggish. -
Yeh we just ripped out our old ruckus network and replaced it with unifi I'm very impressed with it and it's giving us much better coverage and throughput than the network it's replacing
-
Not got it live (yet) but we are going live in 2 weeks. The data manager seems happy with it in terms of both speed and features. Although we are only in transition at the moment..

I had to use this for the first time on an Interview. Managed to fumble my way through it though

VDI / Terminal services
jamin100 replied to richbrowncardiff's topic in Thin Client and Virtual Machines
We use VDI here. We spent 40k on 3 servers, 1 broker and 2 hyper-v hosts. Each host has 196GB RAM and 800GB of hard drive space on 4 x 200GB server grade SSD's We use Dell's vWorkspace as the management interface and hyper-v on server 2008R2 for the VM's We have around 100 desktops (very old,7 years +) and around 90 laptops connecting to it wirelessly. It works well for us -
Facility Software Release January 2014
jamin100 replied to andy_b's topic in Birmingham Grid for Learning (BGfL)
Do we need this? We're moving to progresso in half term and I'm wondering if I need the hassle of installing this when it's all changing in half term anyway? -
Just ordered 3 pros and another 3 normal. This will take us up to 18 APs covering the whole school which is great considering it's replacing 32 ruckus AP's
-
Just to update we now have 12 normal AP's and we are getting decent coverage across the whole site i have a few problem areas where I'm thinking about purchasing the pro AP's With the pro's do they come with POE injectors like the normal AP's or do you have to use proper POE?

SSL Error -Sharepoint / Exchange
jamin100 replied to jamin100's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Yes TMG We have spent the last hour just trying to get onto the TMG server. What do I need to do in TMG? -
So, over the holiday our SSL certificate on the exchange and sharepoint server expired. I renewed the certificate from our CA on the domain. This renewed it for 2 years and allowed access back to sharepoint and exchange (externally) Info here http://www.edugeek.net/forums/internet-related-filtering-firewall/129422-urgent-help-needed-exchange-ssl-certificate.html Now, fast forward to today and were getting lots of certificate errors. When trying to log onto the VLE or OWA (in school) we get the "There is a problem with this websites security certificate..." You can click Continue and it goes through to the VLE. Lookin at the certificate and its still using the old one which expired at the end of December. This is also preventing users downloading documents from the VLE due to the certificate errors. How do I force the clients to use the new certificate? I stupidly assumed that they would just see that there was a new certificate and use that one.... UPDATE: Ok, looks like I may have done something wrong as digicert is showing that the SSL is expired still. IIS 6 shows that the certificate is ok until 2015.. any ideas?

I used mine as a backup / download server and also used it to host 3 vm's when I was doing. 70-680 Good little boxes

Urgent: Help needed with Exchange SSL certificate
jamin100 replied to jamin100's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
Solved this last night. Didn't need the ssl brought from go daddy as the There is a CA server on the domain capable of issuing certificates. Played with this and eventually got both the VLE and external access to email fixed -
Urgent: Help needed with Exchange SSL certificate
jamin100 replied to jamin100's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
No doesn't work. It says New-ExchangeCertificate : Cannot bind parameter 'DomainName'. Cannot convert value "-PrivateKeyExportable:" to type "Microsoft.Exchange.Data.SmtpDomainWithSub domains". Error: "Invalid SMTP domain" If I take out -domainname then it creates the certreq file fine I should add that im trying to generate this from the exchange management shell in 2007 No idea if they were brought seperatly as I only started in September -
Urgent: Help needed with Exchange SSL certificate
jamin100 replied to jamin100's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
lol, I have no idea. So, if I add it in -domainname I get the certificate generated and then import it into exchange and then IIS on the sharepoint server?
