What will happen is your LA will installed as AD server there end and you will need to hook up your ad server to it. This will allow LA wide provisioning of usernames for SIMS learning Gateway, ie a parent has a username but can access all their children's detail even if they are at more than on school. One feature that would be great for lesson monitor is a Single Click Fire Register, this would automatically print the latest attendance information of a tutor group with an extra column for teacher to check against. This will quickly allow staff to check who was missing without the need to compare to a absence report. This was a very good feature of CMIS.

If the project is Open Source, Capita's API costs are unreasonable in commercial terms as there are no funds avaliable to pay for it.

They are in vbscript, you can once i have attached a GPL licence to it. I also need to remove one manual exception i had to put in. is it possible to know the format of your username and how you ad OU are laid out? As the script is quick strict in the structure they it can work with.

I looked at the information about salamander but i think this is a scheduled update process with an ldap link. Our process is real time.

one issue i found with sp3 is that if you wrote a vb script that got the date it returned it in American format and not how the regional/locale state it should be.

We currently have moodle running in our school, we pull course memberships information from SIMS.net and populate moodle. Teacher can then create resources to help in the teaching of their lesssons. We authenticate moodle against active directory to make sure when know which student is logging in.

VLE is more of a concept than an physical thing. A VLE in theory can do anything you want it to do, but the consensus is that it a place for learning resources, to enable learning anywhere any time.

Moodle can handle this already.
