  1. Hi Ben, Your more than welcome to visit Hamble College to see my SIMS and Moodle Integration. We're based in Southampton. PM me if you would like to visit.
  2. There are a few providers offering moodle and sims integration, i have a version that meeting the March 2010 guideline and one in development to meet the September 2010. Webanywhere is another provider.
  3. Here is one place Becta Emerging Technologies - Online reporting briefings
  4. it might be your hitting the maximum number of allowed concurrent connections to the database.
  5. There have been many changes to the becta requirements for 2010, the main one being the use of real-time reporting being dropped and a move to parental engagement through online reporting The requirements are currently Is it up to schools on how to implement it and in what context. As if you uploaded a pdf of a pupils paper report and make it available to parents through a secure login you would have met the 2010 requirement. I am looking to add features to moodle to allow the above information to be displayed in a context so it is easier for parents to understand.
  6. Recording APP in SIMS would be very straight forward but for one technical issue. If you created a an aspect what with a custom grade set the grade set could allow a teacher to enter 4.1 or 5.3 etc these would correspond to app statement held in the grade set description for each value the current draw back is the description is only 100 characters and the APP statement are anywhere from 70 to 150/200. You could then include the grade description in an individual report instead of the grade 6.1 etc.
  7. I would recommend having integration with your MIS. This will allow you to automate the management of classes and courses. What MIS do you use?
  8. why not add you base dn to the context and see if staff can then login?
  9. Hi Matt, They are august setups.
  10. Hi Chris, Currently there are 9 servers running, this will double as we are looking to increase redundancy and increase further with a test suite. the schools is opening a 6th centre next September and im looking to put a flexible system in place. there will be a physical box in addition to the blade centre in the unlikely event of the chassis goes down where we can run critial systems from.
  11. Hi Dan, thanks for the offer but hp and ibm are 6k more expensive from all suppliers.
  12. The are a number or reasons to move to blades mainly we are moving to a visualised environment and blades are better suited. i would prefer same supplier as there can be integrated management.
  13. Hi All, I am looking about for a Blade System and SAN and currently fujitsu are the only one coming in on budget. I have never used Fujitsu equipment, only heard of issue like the mass HDD drive failures. Does any one here use there kit and what do they think?
  14. i am having issues with installing SIMS.net client on windows 2008 64bit everything works except for system manager. it throws and error netui2.dll is missing I have copied over the netuiX.dll from the windows 2003 server this got rid of netui1.dll error but i just can't shift the second one. any ideas?
  15. You can integrate moodle and zimbra with this free block i created. Moodle: Zimbra Single Sign On
  16. At my last school (secondary) uniservity was sold to the head the head bought it and it was never fully implemented as it was rubbish and we stayed using moodle. uniservity is great for primary schools but it just not up to it for the needs of secondary schools.
  17. The supported version is open source but isn't free.
  18. If your using the version that connects directly to the SIMS.net database the development of those plug-ins has stopped. If you required any greater functionality you would need to move to the supported version.
  19. Course Creation, Enrolment and Timetabling is completed. Parental Email System is currently beta testing due for release before December The 2010 requirement im looking at trying to coincide the release with Moodle 2.0
  20. This is currently in development the goal is to allow schools to meet the September 2010 parental Reporting deadline.
  21. should have been not but fat fingers to blame
  22. There isn't much difference the main one is direct database access is not supported by capita so it shouldn't be used. I have developed an alternative for which a support contract is available.
  23. nope just a bloke that does read all the posts
  24. You can use the staff contract end date.
  25. It is possible to duplicate the ldap plugin so you can authenticate against two domains. there is some information on the moodle forums.
