Have a look at adsum4, they have an application that can handle wrap around services that attract fees. It also plugs into payment gateways to parents can pay online. It can integrate with sims.net as well.

If I am reading this right if you are not currently on the framework you have no chance of being added to the list?? If this is correct it sound very protectionist and anti competitive. Any new entrant in the MIS market would not be able to join the framework and so be at a disadvantage.

Scholarpack are on the list as Histon House as i recall. They ditched the free in exchange for ads model due to the number of ads blockers people were using.

The only supplier that this would be affect is capita as its the only one to charge for writing data back. As SIF would allow multiple suppliers to write back but capita could only charge a fee once. AS part of the framework suppliers had to agree to supporting the ISB standards even though they have not been released. SIF is working with the ISB about the practical application of these standards. In an upcoming release of SIF specification it will allow for multiple data models to be transferred between systems. SIF could adopted the ISB data model and use its transport layer to move it between systems.

The DfE framework allows schools to have free access to data but didn't cover updating information. This is still where the monopoly lies in the cost a supplier charges to write data back.

Schools should be asking there supplier to support SIF. There is a cost involved whether connecting to a MIS directly or by SIF. SIF is cheaper to suppliers by reducing the number of APIs they need to support and better for schools by allowing better choice and avoiding vendor lock in. SIF support should be bundled with the application not offered as an add on.

It was a massive amount of data, its the most amount of behaviour events i have seen. You can see rack them up when doing positive behaviour and merit point schemes.

A SIF agent currently exists for Softlink Oliver 5. It can currently create/update records in Oliver and will match exiting users if they have use the any unique it that you have is in the MIS ie UPN or admission number. SIF agent also exist for AD and Moodle. And external siytem with a decent api is straight forward to sif enable.

The biggest misconception is the MIS holds all the data about a student when in fact it is stored in multiple systems. If schools wanted to change MIS by having custom scripts you are adding to vendor lock in. SIF can reduce the issues of changing MIS and any system that consumes student data.

SIF's major benefit is when you are connecting to multiple data stores together or different type of data stores. From a schools view you have your one SIS, from a suppliers SIS you have to support multiple SIS and SIF allow you to develop against one interface for all SIS. As for cost the answer is shop arround, here in the uk we include a complete SIF infrastructure with our integration products and we are still a lot cheap than our competitors who link to the SIS but dont use SIF.

Your currently using Uniservity, will you be migrating to Life or going with Moodle or Frog as the East Sussex contract is up for renewal?

Its possible to do what your asking for if the SIMS link is in place. If you went down the DIY there will be a lot of time required in creating the timetable block. I would look into the cost of the solutions out there compared to the length of time it would take for you to create it.

Chancery and PowerSchool are from Pearson, you also have InfinateCampus, Skyward. All these MIS are SIF enabled to the US data model.

Are you giving out pupil logins to parents or parent logins to parents? If you are giving pupil login to parents this is not a good idea as you are giving parents to much access. The security, data protection and safe guarding implication are huge.

We have existing installations of ZiLink which are linked to a hosted SIMS.net installation. ZiLink doesn't currently offer write back of assessment or behaviour data but the functionality is on our roadmap along with writing back attendance. I would be happy to talk about any other requirements you would be looking for in MIS and Moodle integration.

This has been a discussion point on a spurs website, some of what has been spouted on some of the liverpool fan forums has been even worse than the original incident and well over the line of freedom of speech going into racial abuse and bigotry. There are SIF based applications that can do this and integrating with office365 and Google Apps.
