  1. No. I have the source, and I will work on it as soon as I'm able, but you understand it's the first week of our holidays *and* I'm doing a show all week, so things are pretty manic...
  2. You do not register a .sch.uk, your LA deals with it. Once allocated, you can apply to Nominet to change it (if, like ours, your LA has a really stupid naming scheme).
  3. Every design ever launched by an established site is always "nasty", "horrible", "unuseable" or some other adjective. In a month's time, you won't even notice any more. Although you may have a point, the complete lack of any divider between horizontal articles makes them a bit awkward to read.
  4. Never catch an exception you're not expecting to handle yourself. Always catch a specific exception and deal with it; if it's one you don't know how to handle, let it go up the chain to be dealt with properly by the operating system. Assess the methods you are 'try'ing and what exceptions might be thrown by them, and catch those. Example: your call to DirectoryInfo.DirectoryInfo() can throw any of ArgumentNullException, SecurityException, ArgumentException, and PathTooLongException. Though in the latter case, you've read the documentation to find the upper limit and checked your argument before passing it to DirectoryInfo.DirectoryInfo(), right? Do not just catch an exception of type Exception, except (heh) right at the top of your application where you are handling generic "something exceptional happened, deal with it gracefully and terminate" errors.
  5. On the contrary, if it's a new question please start a new topic. It makes searching so much easier. I've never tried with 64 bit counters, however.
  6. Please at least have the decency to acknowledge your sources.
  7. I didn't suggest they might do anything about it, but that doesn't mean they can't be unhappy about it... Unfortunately, the law says that to keep a trademark registered, you must be seen to be protecting it.
  8. Yes, and it reinforces my point.
  9. It happened to me not here, but on another site, where I released IE8 alongside some other updates. The combination of them seems to have caused some upset, rather than the updates themselves.
  10. Are you after a quotable phrase? Virtualisation is the consolidation of multiple physical machines (of whatever purpose) into one which maintains segregation but divides resources up based on time and demand.
  11. Ubuntu is a registered trademark of Canonical Ltd. I'm fairly sure they'd be unhappy about it being used to sell cola...
  12. MRBS is *truly* free (in the FSF sense).
  13. I'd just forward it to the company asking if it is from them and if they'd like the opportunity to withdraw the request.
  14. and it was unrelated to the problem in this thread.
  15. I've got a similar problem (also after an update cycle) elsewhere, haven't had time to investigate it yet though.
  16. Network Manager is more desktop-targeted, especially notebooks. That's what Joey's etckeeper is for.
  17. Conventional wisdom is that DHCP does require a CAL, but as usual: don't rely on EduHearsay, ask a reseller (preferably one you trust).
  18. If your outbound line is only 10Mb/s, a 100Mb/s copper to it doesn't make any difference at all...
  19. In my experience, they don't know this because they don't actually know what you do do. Ask for a formal appraisal and at it, discuss your day-to-day activities, long-term past projects and planned projects.
  20. Does Paul Pearson really hold the site copyrights??
  21. In that case, investigate a Joomla file-based cache to avoid database hits on every request, and consider modifying your template to allow local caching too.
  22. Yes. You'll probably have to talk to your host about it.
