I have a laptop that is used by a member of staff at home, it's not on the network. Only ever brings it in when there is a problem with it. She's brought a printer for home and wants me to install the driver as UAC blocks her running it at home, however I can't install it without the printer connected so I was wondering if anyone had a script that could remove a local user from the local administrators group if I was to add her in and then tell her that the script had got to be run after the printer installation. This would then remove her from the local admin group. So I was hoping if I add her in to local admins, she runs the printers installation tool, when that's completed tell her to run a script that's on her desktop that then removes her from the local admins groups, removing her local admin access. Is this achievable? Thanks

As I said, from our experience it's a great tool. We don't use it to quite the extent your looking to use it for, however, I can't see why it wouldn't work to alert staff to evacuate. Let us know how you get on trailing, don't hesitate to PM if you have any questions, I'll do my best to answer.

NetSupport Notify - Multi platform alerting solution Great little tool, we use it for alerting staff to internet outages etc. It is intrusive and they have to acknowledge the notification before having their screen back. You can see who has acknowledged it from the sending PC too i.e one of your servers.

Haven't done that with mine yet and I can still push apps, but worth a try.

Seems to be waiting for some kind of authentication maybe?? I've not used AC before, so don't know the ins and outs of it but have you attempted to bake your apple ID into the config or something similar? I'm currently waiting for our DEP application to go through so I can mange them 'over the air' as we don't have a Mac/Server. I have an iPad in MDM which I've been playing with that allows me to push apps out fine. However it's not been touched by AC or DEP yet, only turned on and had Meraki push the profile, settings and apps down.

Any news on this? Literally opened one of the primary schools new iPads, having a play with Meraki MDM Profiles and like you mentioned settings within the profile aren't actually sticking. Rather annoying!!

Hi all, I'm having an issue with one of my laptops - trying to update licensing information fails. When I say fails it doesn't report a failure it just doesn't find anything product information. At first I thought it maybe because the laptop isn't on the domain, so connected it up to see if it made a difference but unfortunately it didn't. Before connecting it back to the domain both Windows and Office were unlicensed, after restarting from the domain join the laptop called in to KMS and activated windows, VAMT doesn't pickup on this however. Office is still inactivated. VAMT will scan and update the other PCs fine so I know it's working as expected. It just attempts to update this one laptop and falls over, it doesn't say that it failed or passed, I've attached a few screen grabs below to try and help what I'm explaining. This is the first time I've ran into an issue with VAMT normally it's fool proof. I've tried restarting the laptop, restarting the WMI service on the laptop also doesn't help, checking the error logs on the VAMT server shows nothing out of the ordinary. I haven't restarted the VAMT server yet though. Anything else I could try? Thanks Liam

Hi all, I'm new to using to FreeNAS and was looking for some advice - I've setup it up, connected it to our AD and setup my first share and set the relevant permissions through FreeNAS so I can create and modify things within the share. All going well, however I was wondering if there is a way to set a quota size on the shares to stop them going beyond say 50GB? I'm setting this up as an Archive for our departments to store video/media work on when they're finished with it but don't want to delete it. I was hoping to give each department a 50GB share except our really heavy users who will be getting 100GB each. I don't want them expanding past the 50/100GB limits so I'd like to know if and how I can set the limits on the individual shares. Thanks for any responses in advance. Liam

Hi all, Had my custom rig for nearly two years without having to touch it, however I have had to RMA the MOBO with the company that built my PC due to faulty USB ports. So as I'm going to be having the board out when the replacement comes I thought I'd make the step to water cooling my CPU. I'm a bit of newbie when it comes to cooling, water coolers, positive/negative pressures etc. I've read it's better for gaming rigs to have negative pressure (more exhausts then intakes). Currently have one exhaust, intake and a fan attached to the CPU cooler.. So I have the possibility of two spare if I go for a 120mm water cooled unit. Any suggestions how to set those spare fans up? Use both as exhausts, one as exhausts and one intake etc?? I'm looking at getting a Corsair H80i GT. Anyone got any suggestions when it comes to water coolers? Dos or donts? Cooler recommendations etc. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Liam

Just to let you know the BIOS update appears to have fixed it for now. Lets see if it comes back in this time next week!! Thanks guys

The affected laptop here is an older one too. The only thing I haven't tried and I'm reluctant to try as it will take hours is a total decrypt and re-encrypt. I also tried messing with the boot devices, removing everything other than the main drive like yourself nothing has offered a solid solution. I'm hoping the BIOS update I'm applying now will fix it!

I'm updating to the latest version as we speak - I don't appear to be a massively behind looking at the revision numbers - but lets hope it fixes it as I'm all out of ideas now!

Hi all, Having an issue with some laptops we have enabled BitLocker for. At first everything is honkeydorey - then a week or so passes and the end user will come back to us saying their startup key no longer works. Just out and out ignores the key. Now we have a 'master key' in the IT office that we keep a copy of all the keys on in-case someone psychically loses their key so we can still get into the system. The laptop ignores this key too. You can obviously get in if we enter the Recovery key that can be pulled from the computer account in AD - but that's no good as we need the end user to be able to use it and we can't be handing that out. If I go in to the BIOS and reset it to defaults - reboot, the keys are then accepted and will work for a week or two without fail. the laptop has been brought back to me this with the same issue, end user and master key being ignored by the system... It can't be the sticks as it ignores both the end users and my master and they are different sizes and makes and the master is fine with other laptops. Checked the BIOS for things like USB power wake/sleep options to make sure the USBs aren't asleep etc. Boot order is booting to OS drive as 1st priority Anyone come across this before?? I'm struggling on what to try next!! Thanks Liam

I've been playing for about 4 days. I've not touched a DD yet. I kept getting ruined by St.Louis in the Chester so decided to make a beeline for that ship, after getting it I do agree its a bit OP but so good to use! Just got myself the Wyoming BB. Enjoying the BB's a lot. I do feel the same as you though, I always get left alone with no cruisers or DDs backing me up. If you have Steam DM your name I'll add you and we can division up if you like? Actually work together instead of treading alone!!

I've just surpassed the South Carolina and moved into the Wyoming T4 BB. Only played one battle with it so far, certainly seemed to be upgrade, 20k more health, two more 305mm gun turrets and more range!! So looking forward to using it just need someone to escort me in a cruiser or destroyer as I find myself alone most of time as the higher tier BB's just sit around 14/15km away and I need to be closer than that. Do you have Steam, if so DM me your name and I'll add you, maybe we can have a game or two soon? @Arreks that's a shame. I've not played WoT but I have played War Thunder which I enjoyed. Have you tried playing with someone? I find it's easier to get XP if your with someone who you can have some sort of strategy with?

Hi all, Is anyone familiar with editing/setting what appears globally on the O365 Nav bar for students/staff. We want to remove the tiles for things like Yammer, Video etc. After a quick Google it says you can hide Yammer/Sites by checking a radio button in the Sharepoint settings. After doing this it's cleared the Sites tile but the Yammer tile is still present! Ideally we'd like it to just show Mail, Calendar, People, OneDrive and the online Office apps! Surely there must be a way of managing what appears and what doesn't? Thanks Liam
