I see you can, if motivated, let copilot index traditional file shares and even an sql database (e.g. sims) anyone done this? File shares is pitched as allow copilot to look at local network files that you haven't yet migrated (gotta map ntfs perms to azure). The SQL one is rather interesting but as a school the only sql database we run is SIMS or 4 matrix. but asking which pupil has best attendance in copilot seem cool but not that valuable. (I assume everything is secure and credential mapping has to be setup)

fyi I freed up ram by uninstalling the windows recall feature (even though it was not in use) now 8 instead of 12

SIMS is a pig, I found that my ESET AV was dogging it, even though it knows to leave SQL stuff alone. I found that running simple SQL queries would yield 1000ms delays.. According to the chat bot the way SIMS it queries things is super duper inefficient. Still all above anything I can do. The sims database is so small it could fit into system ram so goodness knows why it is so slow.

you can create a GPP and have it delete the local accounts. I did this for a flub many years ago

Almost everything I try has just works, a few games don't but they can have video driver and security checks. (also no directx12 ultimate support) remote desktop and web stuff is all fine, office has arm native versions (not used myself) I used the new Affinity 3 on ARM and it works well enough. (the AI stuff is not so great)

I'll be keeping mine as it was an ebay purchase for £300 so is pretty great for the price. The 100% sRGB is making me hate my other screens though (I bet the oled is even betterer)

oh the Wi-Fi, I can get it to connect to my 6e Wi-Fi 6Ghz at home but only at 1200mbps I have the full 160Mhz bandwidth and the card says it supports 160Mhz but seems to only use 80Mhz.. My Quest3 and Pro have no issues at 2400Mbps.

I have a Lenovo snapdragon x plus (feebler version) the USB input wants to have PD3.0 protocols even if a PD2.0 output has 65watts, it'll complain, my intel 8thgen dells do this all the time and randomly shutdown without warning using PD2.0 usbc.. My Lenovo E14 Gen6 Ryzen laptops also sometimes fail to come out of standby, you have to hold the power button powercycle to get it going again.. copilot gobbles up all the ram, and this is a copilot plus laptop excessive ram consumption is plaguing my laptop. it'll use 12gb ram to a clean desktop! is guess I get the scraps of RAM. Also there is an ARM compatibility option and you can try to enable the advanced CPU features for programs. (disabled by default) on a personal note.. live caption translate is a mixed bag but often worse than the not NPU accelerated captioning. The 45tops NPU is a swizz, don't waste your money.. I was using it on a LLM made for NPUs and it performs the same as the CPU?! I will says the 4 day battery is nice, still no ipad... but to have a windows laptop, pick it up 2 days later, insta boot and still hours of battery is sweet. EDIT: Gaming: I was able to get tombraider 2013 to run at native 1200p at 60fps normal, amazing! I also got Dispatch to load just fine with the odd hitch. Wisper from the stars is a mess though.

I'm not sure what the copilot licence has gotten me other than not having to copy paste back and forth from the chat window A lot of PCs here only have 8gb RAM, this would be a problem... Lucky I can't spend £300+ per user, per year for it. EDIT: I have only one window open not 8, I think they are all required for one window....

Hi, Sally, if we select a class group of 30 pupils it'll process a few but then error with the message "error in exporting reports to this location" it'll then open word with one of the reports. (selecting 1 or 2 pupils works) We have tried different destinations (network and local) and the PCs memory is not fully used. (16gb) We do have macros to prompt before run, in office. (as we have always done)

We've moved to Office 2024 from 2019 and now exporting more than 2 reports will fail in SIMS. We are told it is an issue with our office? OK, now what.. The chatbot states that SIMS is using legacy com things and not releasing it properly.. All I know is that people are stuck.. We can however export to word xml so we'll manually convert if need be. Bad showing from my support however...

oh man, triple displays are impossible... We tried docking monitors, so laptop screen, docking monitor screen and the monitor has a displayport output to 3rd display (tv or projector)... Pretty slick looking setup... No...Hell no. Powerpoint is the worst bwgger for this. The behaviour is just too erratic and new staff just fail.

I've used 4.5m cables with the benq 83" TV (about max for display port alt-mode) as long as the cable has the correct e-marker chip all good. (I have a usbc tester)

yes: I use these.. HP USB-C Dock G5 the cable can be replaced if broken. power, network, picture sound and interactive... nice. £129 each it has full size displayport as well as hdmi so you can even use a dp to vga converter on it to retrofit anywhere.

(when management demand a tablet because it HAD to have a rear camera) I can't believe anyone from Microsoft ever gave a few of these to normal people and asked them to set one up and watch the rage and frustration of this over priced, slow as 5hits, thing as it strips joy from their lives and go "yeah, great, ship it like that!"

The Surface GO4 with 128GB storage and the keyboard... (a £90 option) This tablet took almost a full hour to just to configure Windows (not install) and to join the domain... I've got 10 more of these! FML.. What dog poop. a 5 year old apple ipad would smoke this thing. Here it is barely eeking a win from a mobile dual core released in 2012....

I have 6e (6ghz) at home for VR, you can block it with a sheet of paper. I can't see a practical use for it in the school, so this is why I didn't care at all! (but it is fast) Also the In-wall IW Wi-Fi 7s are really useful for quick neat install.. I made a video on the quick install!

The science block is sub optimal has limited ethernet and is remote to the rest of the school (separate building) I've had 2 areas with weak and basically no internet... I've swapped the Unifi HD NANO's (Wi-Fi5) with the new Wi-Fi 7 Long Range APs, I was sceptical but they've improved the coverage to good and mediocre! Which doesn't sound like an endorsement but it really is! The prep room is filled with crap miles from any ethernet and had a certain spot the laptops had too be.. Now they can bench 40mbps anywhere on speed test (not great but stable and usable!) So as they are only £120 each AND they can use the HD Nano fittings this was a quick, cheap and better upgrade. I only recently learned that Wi-Fi 5 is a 5Ghz only technology so the 2.4Ghz is uses the older Wi-Fi4 standard (the n standard! you know the 30 pin connector of wi-fi) and the poor areas were on of course 2.4Ghz...

It would seem a nice benefit in moving to SDSv2 is the auto archiving, I was stumped for a while there wondering why I wasn't being made to run group reports and editing a csv by hand this year... yay!

Basically, I had a failed install for Office 2024.... and nothing would make it go. Also the install log is massive and not human understandable. The AI says the log states it installed successfully, but as it is click to run this doesn't mean anything... Yay, 35 minutes in, I've just got to decide if I continue to waste my time or choose another 20+ minutes re-installing Windows 11 and trying the install again... I'm installing Windows 11 again... This sucks. I did try the office remove tool, (but it seems to not exisit) Also tried the office troubleshooter and after d/l it says use the built in troubleshooter.... fml I want 10 minutes back... it would seem if a click to run product has issues then good fing luck.

Hi, I understand you want to use MDT but there is a better way to deploy office. I install using a PS script at boot via GPO. I don't have to sysprep Office, (the windows image is also now simpler) it'll install asynchronously (so no slow logins) and always install the latest version from the internet.. (no new images periodically) I have 2 office xml's for student and staff (and two boot scripts). I guess you have a use case for MDT with office that I can't see.

I guess this means Proplus A1 Students and Faculty. I don't know how I missed this announcement in 2023 but here it is in full force in September 2025. As I correctly deployed LTSC Office 2024 at school, I'll see no issues. So I guess only teachers and pupils using the full office suite on personal devices will be affected. Anyone got a PS script to swap the licences? cheers

welp, I've spend 5 hours and 36 attempts with co-pilot to try and get WDS to get a working unattend xml to work and I'm super duper frustrated and have of course failed... I have windows 10 clients I want to install a fresh windows 11... wipe the disk setup for uefi, join the domain unsecured , all english, skip all the questions and the auto login. Seems like it should be easy but every time it'll fail or seem like nothing is working. I'm unsure if I should add the unattend twice once in client (for the boot wim and windows PC) and again on the install image or just the install image.. (I've tried both but the copilot says just the install image, so that is what I mostly tried) the immediate issue is that it still shows the partition list even though the disk config is set for no ui...
