Anyone used the SPMT (Office 365 Migration Manager) to migrate staff mydocs and pictures for seeding the move using KFM in onedrive. We are using known folder move for staff desktops now as they were always local. Now I'd like to move their documents off the local servers. Chat bot wants me to use robocopy but that feels rather manual!

Just an FYI, I'm 1 year into owning these laptops and 3 so far have loose case screws AND loose hinge screws. Not wobbly loose but feather tight. No external symptoms yet, I am changing Wi-Fi modules as Realtek suck.

we use donated iphones. You can setup an iphone without a cloud account, you get no apps but the camera is available and even an old iphone is really rather good.

Interesting note: I assumed that Windows 11 would NOT install without the correct TPM module. This is not the case, I've now run an inventory of all my hardware and I found 5 more PCs that don't even have their TPM enabled! (they should have 2.0 TPM but must be BIOS disabled) I'm going BIOS hunting later today...

Sooo, looking at the AV and nothing amiss here.... Wait.. what? I have heard you can "get" Windows 11 to install on unsupported devices but I've never tried, I just bought compliant hardware... No one here knows 1. How this PC was missed, 2. How Windows 11 is on it, (as no one knows how to skip checks) 3. how a PC with 11 and only 4 gigs of ram is running ok, 4. wtf

The two rivets sticking out the back is shame enough you would think. The teacher who got this laptop back did not care at all and was just happy to get it back the same day. This laptop was recently recycled but not because the hinge broke, it was 6 years old. I first did this to a compaq armada e700 (my first laptop) I had to use washers on the back as the lid was plastic. ((I still have it))

took ages to get approval but did work in the end... Affinity3 and now Cavalry Studio for free.

So I added a 10Gbps NIC to my Prodesk and was puzzled to see that the memory was now only 8GB. Welp after reseating and fiddling I discovered that the 2nd dimm slot wouldn't work with the nic installed. Welp Co-pilot answered, the chipset in the PC can't allow the x16 pcie slot AND the 2nd dimm slot at the same time! The BIOS disables the 2nd dimm slot when the x16 slot is in use! The PCIE x16 can't be restricted to x8 or x4 as the bios doesn't exposed this. (to make both work with bifurcation.)

I've stuck them on our guest 6th form Wi-Fi. The teacher uses their laptop and domain Wi-Fi to send jobs via the cloud. Live webcam won't work without firewall changes on the domain but isn't needed. Using the cloud enabled me to isolate them from the domain and the considerations of that.

I know it is now steep enough that management are holding off "sims next Gen" to look at migrating. This is whilst we still control our data locally.

Sorry for late reply, yes after changing Wonde to end of day all the timeout issues have gone and stayed gone.

Every classroom we have (50ish) uses a teacher laptop with a tv or projector. (usbc dock, direct hdmi & wireless,) it is rather hands off. it feels like 1 day and is usually a sound issue. So acceptable for us. The teachers much prefer using their own device and we save on total PC count. Wireless is the most involved with troubleshooting but we use very few.

Yes, I'd say that newer TVs that have native USB-C direct (like our benq above) seem to be very reliable.. I've found that introducing HDMI and 4K screens is where reliability has issue, adding a dock furthers the issue. We have in one room reverted to VGA (via DP) as we cannot fathom why the reliability was so poor. (older clevertouch)

We use one almost daily without issue

Just wanted to FYI everyone in case you are a lemon like me... Somehow 3-4 weeks ago I must have set my home computer to "mono audio" in the accessibility settings.. The impact is subtle, gaming was not going well for me, especially in PC VR! I was thinking tidal was not as great! Just thinking how my steam deck sounded really good and like extra stereo! (lol really thought this) anyhow a number of tiny oddities that were not large enough to trigger a conscious thought... ((I was actually grumbling in TAVR that they should fix the sound as I couldn't tell where things were coming from))

Passive usbc has a limit of around 4m, The longest cables I have are 4.5m and they work well (charge and picture). The no.1 upset of usbc for me is dirt, contact cleaner works well. (No.2 is AMD laptops) Not all usbc cables are equal either, so low quality ones may bite. IMHO 4k screens over HDMI are rather more unreliable and I've had less issue with USBC.

I map the drive but hide it. Didn't realize it was no longer required though.
