mrforgetful is right...ntbackup wont do SQL. Veritas Backup Exec will though if you buy the SQL client thing.

Might I ask why you want to do this? What's the cam for?

It could be some algorithm based on the time and/or date that then has another user-centric algorithm applied to it. That way it's all hard-coded onto the device. Natwest have a similar thing for their online banking.

Have a look in the yellow pages and contact your local paper merchents and see if they can give you a hand with this maybe?

Fwink will generate an image and ftp it up to a web server. It's not streaming but it does allow you to add a message. I cant remember but there /might/ be some kind of live stream function. Get it and have a look. It's free.

We had two separate Intel ProSet NICS in our DCs that were teamed using their software in failover mode.

"You can never totally eradicate the single-point of failure, even if you had some fail-over on the switches, the server still only has one Ethernet cable in it after all!" *cough* Ours had dual gigabit with failover *cough* Anyway, yes, we had a big procurve chassis switch in the server room which handled the core switching with fibre links to all the other cabinates in the school which were then in turn 100mbit to the desktop. In the server room there was gigabit copper between all the switches for the ICT department (there were 6 or 7 of those i seem to remember) and the chassis switch (in the same cab). All the fibre terminated in the server room also. We didn't have a fail over core switch in place in case of failures. There just wouldn't have been the room for it for a start! But there were lots of replacements for other switches hanging around and GBic modules aswell i think.

We used the school photos. The photography company (tempest IIRC) gave us scaled down photos on DVDs I think. I can't remember because I didn't have much to do with CMIS personally.

Oh yh forgot to mention...anything i played on a CPC was on that lovely green screen.

I remember doom, duke nukem, paperboy and boulderdash on the amstrad CPC. Although, my most recent reason for not doing any work is battlefield 2 @Webman...i remember pretending to play hopscotch at school when i was really little. No one told us how to do it properly

My "first PC" was one that my dad had bought when i was very young (possibly before i was born, i don't quite know) it was an amstrad CPC. Green monitor and completely controlled from the keyboard like most PCs of the time...all the circuitry was underneath your fingers . Had a 2.something inch floppy disk drive...no hard drives obviously. I can't remember the specs but i do know it had a lovely IBM dot matrix printer and some old serial joystick Paperboy was such an awesome game.

For things like CMIS we didn't ask for consent becuase it's closed data and not available to joe bloggs. Website was an opt-out as opposed to an opt-in. It was printed in the newsletter once every year and the students had to return the reply slip to say that parents had read each newsletter.

As has been previously said by CyberNerd (scroll up dude) ... port 3389. It does sound a lot like a DNS issue. Trying with the IP address of the server would be of help to see whether it /is/ a dns issue. If trying with the IP address works have a look to see whether the DNS servers are the same on the box that it works from and the box that it doesnt. Also check to see whether the box it works from is getting it's settings via DHCP and the box it doesnt isnt. It could be that it's not picking up the right DNS settings from the DHCP server. (possibly....)

The last guy that stole from me got a letter sent to him requesting the money for the item he paid for and then paypal, in their infinate wisdom, reversed. He didnt respond so i sent one to his parents (me knowing that he's only 16/17). They didn't respond either. Shows a lot about the character of the family and what the parents are teaching their kids!

I've had a kid snap his/her USB key in a USB port before (actually a number of times) then said to the teacher "hmm usb's b0rked." It's then been brought to me in the IT services office and i've gotten out a soldering iron...fixed it and watched the kid stand there bricking it trying to think up excuses why he/she/it STILL hasn't done their GCSE coursework on the third or fourth chance. Most amusing.

Does it do it when you shutdown from when you're actually logged on?
