The iMacs could easily go for another 3 years! Personally I am not a fan of brands such as novatech as they tend to die quite quickly. I am much more a fan of the Dell with 3 year onsite warranty. All about the total cost of ownership .

Oddly I have gone back to my PC gaming ways! The PS3 sits alone in the corner while I play CIV 5, bless it.

Also, I have seen some issues if they are trying to mount 2 drives at login.

You need to have a good sit down with the SLT. If you start messing about too much you might start to compromise sensitive data just to get an iPad working. Should direct them this way, see what all of us have said about what you're trying to do

What is your wireless solution? If its anything like Ruckus, make the Apple TV's be tagged from the ruckus box for the guest/staff iPad VLAN, then plug it into the network via its ethernet for the rest of the access you might want. Also, not thinking of making a third VLAN for BYOD? Get DHCP to dish out appropriate proxy settings so they go through at a certain level of filtering (no auth, wouldn't be able to look at a suer level but at least they would be filtered) or rely on smoothies SSL bypass.

I think we had 15 in the end. Did your install costs much? We had to have some paths dug up which was a bit of a farse.

One thing to always remember with these is that they do not turn up ready for your school. After we had smoothie installed I was tinkering for weeks getting it working just how I wanted it....which in turn might be miles off how you want it. Regardless of solution you go with, be patient with it. The smoothwall box is awesome, but I must say their support is slipping. They take forever to get back to you, however, they are awesome when they do.

The link posted earlier shows how to do it in exchange 2010, I would assume there is an equivalent for 2013. HOWEVER THIS IS WORST PRACTICE. Like others have said, Exchange is designed to eat all the RAM. Personally I would only start limiting in a lab and never in a lab environment. When you do go live, give it it's own physical box, it doesn't like sharing.

If you are unhappy with how much it is eating, limit it, just like you can with SQL.

That confirms that it is smoothwall playing silly buggers. I'd ring smoothwall back and insist on speaking with someone, you know EXACTLY what you are trying to achieve and for them its a 5 min job. Download their teamviewer client and be good to go. Either take your IP out of the exception or have another machine to hand for testing .

Yea smoothwall blocks it unless you have it setup right. To do a very quick test, use a machine with a static IP (yours?). Add the IP into the exception list (you will need to change to port 801 on LAN settings) and see if it works then. With these settings it allows the machine with that IP to bore a hole straight through smoothwall. This will at least confirm it is smoothwall as the guilty party.

I think you might need to restart the proxy (not the entire box) to make it work. If not, ring 08701 999500. It's what they are there for! Edit: I see that Alex actually put that anyway.

What filtering system do you use? If its smoothie they have an entire content category just for itunes, they have many many urls.

We did this, but we already had an onsite exchange server. We actually clustered 2 smoothie boxes and purchased the firewall and filtering as well as the email filter. The change was incredible, never looking back.

I have just moved house so I am building a new 2012 domain .

I had issues with MDT 2010 on a VM, however I am willing to blame that on the cluster being configured by people who didn't have a clue.
