I've only ever been once (over 10 years ago now) and I got absolutely nothing from it. Personally, I've never understood the point of it: I fully accept that I may be missing said point, though. I'd much rather just, y'know, look at websites.

I decided to convert my code from Google Apps Script to PowerShell. What took in total well over 10mins in GAS (which has a 6min max execution time) took all of about, oooh, 2s on a MacBook Air M2! Yeah, GAS is a lovely thing to have, but it's slow, especially when reading/writing files in Drive.

Isn't there some recommendation about cycling DKIM keys periodically (like, ev 6mo or something)? Perhaps that might making it more than just an onboarding task.

If you had a GPO setting the 'Select the target Feature Update version' option to 24H2 and linked that GPO to the Art OU, that would win over the 'Select the target Feature Update version' option of 22H2 in the 'W10 Student PC - WUFB' GPO linked to the OU higher up. Other options in the 'W10 Student PC - WUFB' GPO would still get applied, provided those options aren't set in GPOs linked closer to the computers in AD. If you've got competing option in GPOs linked at the same level, you need to ensure that the inheritance order of those linked GPOs is shuffled to your needs (I can never remember if a lower number in th inheritance order wins over higher numbers, or the other way around).

I would have said no, but when I took a look just now I had an army list on there from 9th. It's still quite Battlescribey to look at, though, imho. I'm not wanting to try and tackle army building. I was just wondering how nice and fluid an experience Obsidian might be for having a bunch of different datasheets and suchlike open in different tabs, whilst not looking like a mangled Word table. Turns out it's really nice!

Whilst not being able to get any actual painting done, I've been having a bit of fun with a little pet project. I've recently started to make use of the wonderful Obsidian app, which is a markdown-based wiki-like note taking app. After transferring all of my 40k painting recipies from Google keep into Obsidian, I had a thought that it'd be an ideal app for 40k rules, datasheets, etc. I found a GitHub repo that's got all of the datasheets maintained as JSON files, so I knocked something up to pull all of that and turn it into a big pile of markdown files for use in Obsidian. Add a little bit of CSS to give it the 40k look and this is the result. It's much nicer/faster than scrolling through and zooming in and out of PDFs. Works just as well in the mobile app, too. Since it's a collection of markdown files, you can add your own pages to list units for an army, quickly reference enemy units, keep scrore, etc. I may never actually get to use it in a game, but it's been fun to make. Just the rules, stratagems, enhancements and detachments left to do before 11th edition comes out

You could also pipe that to "Select -First 10" for an exciting top 10! I'm not aware of any PowerShell cmdlet that plays the Top of the Pops theme tune, though, so this solution is not a complete one.

I think in LastPass's case, they'd sellotaped their bike to a lamp post, so you can't be sure that 'better' in their case doesn't just mean duct tape.

Letting it sleep might help to avoid bandwidth issues, no?

I'm working on the assumption the removing the provisioned AppX packages will have a benefit in reducing login times when a local profile needs to be created.

IDK. We tend to reimage rather than push out feature updates. Good point though, I hadn't considered it.

I have a similar script but I don't run it in the TS. I instead run it against the vanilla ISO to strip them out of that. Something like this to mount the image. Hmm. I really don't understand MS licensing. We don't have a Premium license for Entra ID, we have Office 365 A1, but we've been able to use the application proxy since whenever.

You also don't need any extra licensing (or need to be using Conditional Access) for Azure App Proxy.

I once spent about 6 months with a typo in my own name in my email signature. If anybody noticed, they didn't tell me. I only noticed when composing an email to all staff with instructions for setting themselves an email signature, which included a quip about making sure to proofread their own name. Doh. Yeah, I've since automated them!

My child's school uses ParentMail and as well as receiving messages in the app, we also receive copies via email (from [email protected]). I can't remember if we as parents needed to opt in to receive those or not. Our school here is, in the words of a colleague, very "sender-focussed" with regards to the parent comms we send out. i.e. we have no dedicated comms role and it's a bit of a free-for-all with teaching staff able to send whatever bulk emails they feel like sending this morning/lunchtime/evening/Sunday without necessarily considering the context in which it is received or other comms parents may be in receipt of. No holistic approach. We use EduLink and so it's all sent as messages via that (predominantly this will mean parents are receiving comms as emails).

Here's the bit of my code that deals with the pagination. This is written for Apps Script. The bit at the end of the "do" block is where the url of the next page is extracted from each response (from the "meta" property of each page), so that another API call can then be made to that next url, with the response from that appended to the "pages" array. Each page received from the Wonde API is an object with both "data" and "meta" properties. It's the values in the "meta" bit that allow you to work through the pagination, with the "data" bit containing the actual student details or whatever that you're after.
