HP 'Lifetime warranty', only from authorised reseller?
MrKJLS replied to toffee_paul's topic in Wired Networks
I brought a HP switch off eBay for my homelab. It developed an issue with one of the fans after I got it, made a ticket on the HPE website, after providing the serial number and the logs. Got an new switch the next day. -
Got this one of the dog today

A guy on the smb team at Microsoft recommended disabling SMB1 https://blogs.technet.microsoft.com/filecab/2016/09/16/stop-using-smb1/ I like proactive maintenance
-
-
That is the guide we used to disable SMB1. Removing SMB1 though Powershell was nice and easy.
-
We deploy SOLUS usually after we rebuilt a computer. SMB1 gets disabled automatically through Group Policy, but it refused point blank to deploy though our SOLUS3 console. We did it though PDQ Deploy in the end as I created a package on there to deploy it with. Ours comes up blank as well.
-
We don't install SIMS upgrades straight away. But I'd rather take the risk installing a patch or disabling a protocol to remove a secuirty hole.
-
We uninstalled the Solus 3 Agent off my office computer (I have SMB1 disabled and Windows 10 installed) and we tried to reinstalled and it refused point blank to install it. The message in the SOLUS3 Console is "Access Denied to the remote machine". We also rebuilt somebody PC and SOLUS3 gives us the same access denied error message.
-
We disabled SMB1 across our network and now our SOLUS3 doesn't work either. We have nearly 800 PC's and that will be a massive PITA. Can someone at Capita confirm this for us? @PhilNeal

Impero Version 6 Build 6.0.42 [Available Now]
MrKJLS replied to 6Foot2's topic in Network and Classroom Management
We detached (or support did) the older logs and it was still slow. Our log files usually sit around 2GB and it chugged while it was on the SAN. We are a big site with around 780 PCs and around 1400 kids. -
Impero Version 6 Build 6.0.42 [Available Now]
MrKJLS replied to 6Foot2's topic in Network and Classroom Management
We were told by Impero not to use it on our SAN (as they recommend that was slowing it down for us) and were recommended to run it on a local server with its own hard drives. The log viewer seems to be a bit nippier than it was before. Even though our SAN is currently being underutilised and there is nothing wrong with it. -
I have firstnamelastname.co.uk so it looks like www.kieransaul.co.uk I use it for a personal website and emails.

Microsoft EDU event - Tuesday 2nd May 2:30pm
MrKJLS replied to timbo343's topic in Courses and Training
They should of lol. I'm a bit disappointed that it doesn't support on-site active directory. Otherwise, it would have been perfect for laptops. -

I went down to Hatfield Forest this yesterday and I got this one of a swan: I also got one of a duck eating some food. Full album available here: https://photos.kieransaul.co.uk/2017/04/30/

I backup mine to my NAS, then during the night that backs it self up to crashplan.

You can disable the store using group policy if your using Enterprise/Education. We lock the rest down with Applocker. All other bits are done with either powershell or group policy.

Does UEV work with 10 Education or just 10 Enterprise?
MrKJLS replied to Oaktech's topic in Windows 10
Have you tried running the Powershell Commands (if you're running Windows 10 1607)? Enable-UEV Then you can run get-uevstatus to see the status of UE-V. You might have a reboot pending before the service starts. -

You seen this thread? http://www.edugeek.net/forums/windows-10/181024-windows-10-profiles.html -
You can capture application settings using the UE-V Template Generator. https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/itpro/mdop/uev-v1/installing-the-ue-v-generator We prefer to use Group Policy if we can to pre-customize apps before the end user using them.
-
We don't currently have any customization for third party apps like Adobe CC. This is something we are planning to look at a later stage. We just wanted to get the base bits working first with Windows 10 and staff Windows settings roaming.
