  1. Im trying to work out as it stands how this will effect us so i can brief SLT as spring is not exactly far away. We have only recently allowed KS4 pupils access to Youtube in school - I am asuming this will need to now be removed? Pupil focused content on SM platforms will need to be stopped from Spring 2027 We have a few instagram profiles for departments to comunicate with pupils all these will need to close. Probably have to look to shift focus from our SM platforms to the school website as the main online communication channel for pupils.
  2. In the process of ordering one and a cloud key now as a proof of concept.
  3. We have had a lot of success with 10m active HDMI leads 4k30Hz (https://cpc.farnell.com/av-star/hhswa-10/4k-hdmi-lead-slim-aluminium-10m/dp/AV27759) TV to wall box then 2m HDMI cable then to a HDMI Splitter
  4. The hunt for Red October by Tom Clancy One of my favorite films so thought i better read the book. Every time i read a passage of Ramius talking i imagine Sean Connery dodgy Russian accent
  5. Seems to be fixed now
  6. Yes, started yesterday. Something about migrating licences types.
  7. Another one for applocker here.
  8. We have used standard consumer tvs in most of our offices and a few classrooms. Never had issues with damage or faults - They are not "designed" for the environment but if you are happy with the risks they can be an cost effective option. Most of our classrooms have Interactive TVs
  9. Image Resizer tool in Microsoft PowerToys - Right click menu option for it. Use it all the time in work and at home.
  10. https://www.comms-express.com/products/geist-watchdog-15-p-un-environment-monitor-c-w-temp-humid-dew-point-sensors-poe/ I have one of these in the server room. About the cheapest off the shelf product i could find at the time.
  11. Refurb HP Elitebooks i recommend to anyone that asks me. Make sure its Intel 8th Gen or Ryzen 8GB ram 256SSD. Laptops direct. Used them to get my dad a refurb.
  12. We are sticking with desktops in the classrooms. All teachers have laptops as well. Tried a laptop/Dock set up with one teacher and there were to many small issues for it to be manageable across the school. Admittedly it was a small test. Although we may look at it again for teachers. We are replacing all the office based staff desktops with laptops and docks and this is working quite well. We tend to buy refurbished kit so the cost is not too much of a problem.
  13. I cant see any reason to split them up these days. If you had ssds and hard drives maybe you would put the host os on the hard drives so the vms have the faster storage. Possibly for some specific workload but in general one RAID 10 is fine for most workloads.
  14. For local storage all drives in RAID 10. A partition for the host OS and a different partition for the Host Data (VMs) What advantage are you getting from having the Host OS on a different RAID array? If you have different Drive sizes or types then maybe?
  15. Had the same problem yesterday with windows 11 deployment to "older laptops" Added the check to the task sequence and now working well.
  16. From my experience and reading best practice is for hosts to be on the domain. Microsoft also recommends domain joined.
  17. Both my hosts on the school domain. We do have off site DC (LEA hosted) and a DC on the one of the hosts
  18. We have a Geist watchdog 15 - https://www.comms-express.com/products/geist-watchdog-15-p-un-environment-monitor-c-w-temp-humid-dew-point-sensors-poe/ The software is a bit clunky but it works well. No sim tho all alerts by email.
  19. We have dual screens for all staff. We are a small school with about 60 dual monitor setups for staff. We have a few different setups in different rooms. Would love to standardize to the same setup in every room, have done where possible but its not always possible. Main thing is to teach staff how to use the windows display settings and how to arrange the screens in the correct order. That solved the majority of issues, other issue we see is the interactive tvs only work interactively on the primary monitor so something to keep an eye out for.
  20. I set up windows event forwarding for applocker logs to be sent to my log server - worked well untill deploying windows 11, the gpo caused explorer to hang, never got to the bottom of it.
  21. Would anyone have a copy of the installer files for trust-e software? Need to replace the desktop its on. Moving to new cashless system in Sep so not willing to pay Civica for the install. I have follow the instructions above and can open the software and access the accounts section but the reporting is failing Error in application RGen9 I am assuming installing the software from the installer may fix it. Thanks
  22. 11 trolleys here and just me. Departments are given ownership of the trolleys and devices. Any issues are recorded on the ticketing system.
  23. Yeah thats one way to do it. From memory i think its only a 300w heater element probably enough to take the chill off the air? Me and my dad installed it in 2018 i think. My dad got one the same time. Apart from the temperature shut off its run 24/7 since then. I do have the remote for it but forgot to pair it when we installed it and its to high to reach without a ladder. I also tried washing the filter in the washing machine on a delicate wash, it worked quite well. maybe get away with doing in one more time before buying replacements.
  24. I have the heated version(had a very good discount) i have never used it. Running costs are too high to run the heater all day every day.
  25. We recently had a Salto system installed, works really well. Was expensive tho. Have to agree with other comments regarding unifi. Fab for switching / wifi but access control on a large scale i would stick to the specialists.
