  1. Download and extract the Autumn 2020 full update from SOLUS to a folder and then on the exam officers pc install these exe's in this order:- SIMSAPPLICATIONSSETUP SIMSMANUALSETUP SIMSAMPARTSETUP That will update a workstation without SOLUS BTW the SIMS client is totally portable so you can always just copy the working sims.net folder from a working pc over the top of a broken pc
  2. Finally something else the back of Tesco can be famous for* They were spotted earlier in the year in a similar spot, so nice to see them back fit and healthy but gutted I missed them in real life as I walked past that spot yesterday morning. *For those who don’t know Salisbury, that video was shot from almost the exact spot the Skripal’s were found on the bench that is no longer there
  3. We did our first School Cloud last night, just a small by invitation with 30 y13 students and staff spread far and wide, some 1:1 and some shared 2:1 meetings. On the whole, went without a hitch, one parent had bad Internet and one of our teachers didn't read the instructions but everything else went like clockwork. Only feedback I've had so far is only the primary teacher in shared appointments has the hang up button if a meeting finished early but that's just a get used to it thing rather than a bug. Setting up the whole y10 one this morning, that should test it...
  4. Astronaut - Sky Movies The lowest budget space movie you will ever watch but still an enjoyable story about a 70 something man who enters a lottery to win a ticket on the first space tourism flight
  5. I have nothing but good to say about Unifi, my site is 100% (switches, AP's and CCTV) and it's install and forget. The only issue is Unifi has yet to implement Layer 3 so you need one capable device in your LAN to implement the VLAN stuff, I for example have an Aruba 2930F doing that job setup for me by another lovely EduGeek member over the summer
  6. I'm still holding on 5.12.35 for the controller at the mo until I feel 6 is (mostly) issue free although I do have firmware 4.3.21.11325 on over 100 devices without any issues
  7. Here you go, this is an example of what is sent out each week in the early hours of each Sunday Andrew
  8. Sky: The Good Liar Sir Ian McKellen is a conman who targets Helen Mirren. Trundles along nicely and then takes a very dark turn.... Netflix: Rebecca Adaptation of the 1930's book, a very good film about the second Mrs de Winter Yes, we've watched a lot of films this weekend, but it's payback as I've also watched a lot of golf this weekend
  9. Three utter turkeys in one wet Saturday... BloodShot - Vin Diesel shoots everyone and blows up everything else The Lighthouse - two 19th century lighthouse keepers pick a fight with mermaids and a one eyed crow The Invisible Man - starts off a fairly good sci-fi before getting silly(er) at the end
  10. We do this every day with a semi decent webcam and teams meetings. The mic in the webcam is more than capable to hear a student on the other side of the room.
  11. Tim Peake’s autobiography, Limitless?
  12. Underwater A deep sea mining operation is hit by an earthquake, lots of water, monsters, a terrible plot, formalistic ending and even worse acting. Feel free to skip.....
  13. We did 7 students today, all went OK apart from them trying to take pictures of their passports, you've never seen anything like it, all angles and retakes trying to get it focused and not shiny because of the laminate.... Another 7 to do tomorrow morning
  14. There also appears to be a 50mb file size limit on WEBDAV with the OneDrive mappers, tried everything to change it but it appears to ignore the reg key that controlled it. In the end we gave up and went to known folder redirection
  15. We took the decision to take out the land line about 18 months ago, we are on an internet only account with SSE which works fine. We only use our mobiles for communication, both are iPhones with TrueCaller installed and that cuts out the majority of junk calls. Not perfect but the add caller to junk function is handy after we google an unknown number...
  16. Good luck everyone, just setup a lab for 6 candidates for the morning, all we need now is for the live links to come through to the candidates and they can access the email they are sent to. I must say, the CAAT helpdesk emails this afternoon make bleak reading, lots of concerned exams officers out there...
  17. If you are unaware of who he was and what he did. One of the greatest who right up to the end was always consulted by Penn and Teller who would critique for them any new trick before they used it in public
  18. Even cruder method, I download the latest .exe version of the offline teams installer to a network share and have that as the staff shortcut. If the version matches it just skips and runs teams from appdata as usual, if the installer exe is newer then the appdata version gets updated and then runs. I keep an eye on this thread, 26064 has been the latest version for a while Crude, cludgy but works...
  19. It's a bit of a mess isn't it. As of this morning we still haven't been told about the MSB so we are assuming Chrome Plug-in is the way forwards. Saying that, the test choked on my pc as I have two screens, won't proceed until I turn one of them off.... We have 7 students taking it so as you say, a lot of faff for not a lot when usually it's just a paper based exam.
  20. Fiver a month? Pugh quoted me £21.45 per account per year..... Microsoft Office 365 EDU A3 Open Faculty OVS-ES ShrdSvr ALNG SubsVL OLV F 12mth Acdmc AP AddOn toOpp
  21. It's still working with A1 but no-one knows for how much longer. Just bought 3 x A3's yesterday which I'll add one to our Producer account just to be sure. I did email M$ direct to ask but all I got back was a cut and paste saying A3/5 for live events
  22. Have you got a link to the workstation test you can PM me? Haven't even been able to get that from anyone yet... Ta
  23. Is anyone else administering the BMAT online exams at the start of November? We are going round in circles with the instructions and Cambridge aren't exactly helping clarify things.... One minute the school will get the links, the next only candidates will get them sent to their registered email address etc Anyone else made any more progress as to what is actually going to happen?
  24. One of our students won the "Youth Portfolio Category of Young Landscape Photographer of the Year" the other night. I'll link his work here when it's published
