  1. Barrettine Methylated Spirit 500ml: Amazon.co.uk: Grocery Check out the reviews
  2. The Amiga was clearly the best... (runs and hides)
  3. You're correct. Infact you previously directed me to VAMT and we are using it to do exactly what the OP asks. We upload the OEM key (it is a single key for each vendor) and chuck that out to the machines.
  4. no Wireless ariels tend not to transmit directly above, or directly below. They tend to follow a donut pattern.
  5. I don't think we were able to do it over the internet through a proxy. IIRC we tied it to a specific IP Address and allowed it unfiltered access.
  6. You must be linking to the wrong article. That one says Nokia sold 4.4M Lumina devices yet an android article from the summer claims there were 1.3M android activations per day.
  7. Ouch. I prefer my one liner !
  8. A script isn't needed for something this simple - you can do it all on the command line in a single line find . -type d -maxdepth 1 -exec zip -r {} /path/you/want/the/files/to/go/in \;
  9. That's half the story. The PS3 has one main CPU core and 6 sub-cores whilst the XBox 360 has a triple-core CPU - both are PowerPC based and Windows is of course X86 based. friend (At Sony) tells me that porting from PS3 to XBox 360is done by 2-4 coders depending on size of project (out of a total of 25 coders) and big game port could take a 2-3 months to port to XBOX -mostly due to the architecture change. With Piston the architecture is the same as windows/Mac/Linux so they only have to worry about the operating systems and DX to OpenGL and not an entire architecture change when porting windows games. There are a lot of Mac games on Steam these days, so it's likely they will be very quickly available on that Piston.
  10. WTF? It stands to reason it isn't going to support DX - how the hell do I back that up. It also stands to reason that everything that is released for multiplatform PS3/Xbox/wii has been written for portability and doesn't need to rely on DX, it just requires another port.
  11. Well we can pretty much guarantee that's not going to happen. But the majority are written with portability for PSGL/OpenGL anyway.
  12. We have a sixth form of 350 ish students. Every student who qualifies for a bursary gets a 'free' netbook (about 15 have them) All other students are expected to bring in a device. This is compulsory - like bringing in calculators, pencils etc. There is a bank of 11 thin clients and 20 laptops (linux) to use if they forget. The IT requirement is next to nothing for support given that only 40/350 machines are actually belong to the school. We provide wireless, help getting connected and broadband. Email (25GB per student) and filespace (unlimited for google docs, or 5GB for other files) is all provided online for free by google and works with everything the students chuck at us.
  13. Collaboration vs Google Docs
  14. I got mine just before Christmas. @Rawns - I hope you do the right thing and join the resistance !
  15. RT is becoming a bit more usable, provided you compile the apps yourself: Windows RT jailbroken to run third-party Desktop apps | ExtremeTech
  16. The problem with not using sharepoint and using Office 365 is that you get all of the disadvantages of office 365 - yet none of the advantages of sharepoint. All of your documents are in MS cloud and you end up needing to pay for the A3 plan to get the full advantage of being able to use any of the advanced features which MS inconveniently left out of the Office 365 web application. We costed that at £40,000 per year . Compare to Google Docs you get automatic sync of MSOffice files, Google drive to sync mapped homedrives plus the collaborative tools - so you can still have EES AND Google docs and have both benefits, plus you get Android and chromebook devices at a fraction of the cost.
  17. You have to have a full sharepoint setup and Office licenses everywhere for that to be effective. That's extraordinarily expensive for schools to do.
  18. You probably spend more than that on SIMS alone! Definitely worth doing.
  19. Android/ChromeBooks with Google Apps already has filled that niche.
  20. a bluetooth KB for a tablet does me fine
  21. I had thought that manufacturers had stopped making netbooks now and that their sales had plummeted. (except the chromebooks of course). I think the perennial problem for MS is that most of the PC's that are sold are "throwaway plastic crap" and it gives users a really poor view of Microsofts products. Moreover, as soon as a PC gets slow they need to get a new computer as most people don't know you can change an operating system (or even what an operating system is).It gives MS a really bad name and people look at alternatives like chromebooks and apple. Ultimately I'm sure there are loads of reasons Win8 has bombed. It'll probably pick up eventually; by SP1.
  22. pi has an RJ45. Use the wireless or get a bluetooth dongle.
  23. Google apps has some built-in management tools for Android,IOS for free http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtDYpU4V4UQ Google Apps Mobile Management: Overview - Google Apps Help
  24. The ingress of water between the compressed connections is also a likely cause - it can drag in dirt with it in a capillary action. Take a look at a connector under the microscope at a connector that hasn't been cleaned for a couple of years.
  25. School taught me locoscript on cp/m because that is what corporate business was using. Back to that old "transferable skills" argument.
