here you go: https://www.broadcom.com/support/license.php?file=570x/linux-3.124c.zip You'll need to build it in the same development environment and probably need to recompile on each kernel update.
-
Its definitely possible because there are kernel drivers in RHEL6 and (as you say) 12.04. I suspect that you would need to either find the source and compile driver for that kernel or find a backport for it.

It was only theoretical :-) Not really going to try anything...yet.

Actually finding myself agreeing with Gove. *shudder*

Google Chrome GPO settings
CyberNerd replied to IT_Man_Dan's topic in Internet Related/Filtering/Firewall
These are the configurable settings in GAPPS. Policy Refresh Rate Locally applied Policy Refresh Rate The number of minutes between client policy refreshes. 30 - 1440 minutes Google Sync Locally applied Google Sync Administrators can no longer use this policy to disable Google Sync. Instead, the Google Chrome Sync service should be turned on or off on the service list page. In addition, this policy will be removed entirely after March 1st, 2013, so please ensure that your Google Chrome Sync service is correctly enabled or disabled for each organization unit by that date, as that service will then become the only mechanism to enable or disable Google Chrome Sync for your users. Does this extend to Chromebooks? That would be good to deploy apps to. -
We use Google sites as departmental websites which are affiliated to our main school website (drupal) and for students to create their online eportfolios. To host work for students we use Moodle as it is designed as a course management system and has integration with Google Drive (it can use Drive as a repository for files). You are right that Google sites are limited in what can be done cosmetically, but they are very good for displaying data such as PE results from a live spreadsheet, giving students an online place to showcase work and for integration with calendars etc.

Not many people in the 1990's and 2000's took the attitude that the only way to secure windows was to uninstall it...
-
Isn't it GOOD that they are starting to take security more seriously and releasing regular updates - like windows does nowdays. ?
-
Different ZDNet authors have countering opinions as to whether anyone can save windows at all: Microsoft's Windows 8 Plan B(lue): Bring back the Start button, boot to desktop | ZDNet Windows: It's over | ZDNet

This is from the Redhat support portal: https://access.redhat.com/site/solutions/21601 Resolution It looks like the well known max filedescriptors limit has reached. This can be changed with the fs.file-max sysctl tunable. Increasing the numbers in the following control files should resolve the issue. /proc/sys/fs/inotify/max_user_instances /proc/sys/fs/inotify/max_user_watches *man inotify* ===== /proc/sys/fs/inotify/max_user_instances This specifies an upper limit on the number of inotify instances that can be created per real user ID. /proc/sys/fs/inotify/max_user_watches This specifies an upper limit on the number of watches that can be created per real user ID. ===== Add the following line to /etc/sysctl.conf. fs.inotify.max_user_instances = Run the command below. # sysctl -p In one of the case, increasing fs.file-max tunable with syctl does not resolved the issue. Root Cause One of the following limits has been reached: /proc/sys/fs/inotify/max_user_instances /proc/sys/fs/inotify/max_user_watches

I'd go for the Samsung personally.

^ this is pretty much exactly the route we have taken. Sounds like you have thought it through. I think the biggest hurdle isn't going to be a technical one at all - that with staff acceptance as "that's the way they have always done it". I totally agree that the days of native windows only apps days are limited and it is good that you are seeing the bigger picture.

Ours came with 5yr onsite warranty. I don't think 3yr is enough for a £3k outlay.
-
Actually - scrap that. I seem to be missing half of it.

I have an old Compaq one not in use. Its PS2. Make me an offer.

It is only on a redundant ADSL line - it's not a 2nd fibre connection. We may upgrade it to EFM now those costs are down significantly.

Some FOSS, some cloud, Some propriety. It's a mixed bag.

Not sure about that!. but yes it does seem the best starting point to improve the service! It may be that they are unaware of the issue. Do you get graphing details of your endpoint router. The first place to look is if it is under too much load. Our LA steadily provided more bandwidth to schools, but forgot to upgrade the router from an old Cisco that wouldn't exceed more than 40Mb/s

Put in a change request to open a port to the internet from your TMG and see if it helps. If it does then problem solved, if it doesn't or they deny the request then change provider. It's a free market.
